Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #121,261
36 outside this AM. Nice wind. Lots of branches and sticks to pick up today. Was relaxed last night with the wind, no big trees anymore by the house to worry about.

On the porch front, I need a redo on the vinyl plans. I set the starter strip only to find the house is tilted on the 38 foot run by 2 inches. I will have to regroup today. The 2 inch gap will be noticed between the decking and vinyl as I move from one end to the other. I may have to cheat and just hang the vinyl going with the deck. But that would mean a lot more cutting around the windows and door. I guess I should have noted the tilt on the sheeting and foam board. I thought it was just the original siding having an issue. Wife says don't fret, since it is a 100 years old. Just disappointed as I was just excited to do something easy.

Nice that the sun is up this early. LOL.

Hope all have a good day. Be safe.

I can relate. My container has been sitting 15 years, plumb, level, and square no more. Sure makes for a challenge or two. Not bad in that probably not noticeable unless playing marbles on the floor, but I notice especially at various transitions. Sophie and your wife similar, she just tells me it adds character. But it’s still a challenge to me.

Drew, thinking about your propane tanks. Do you have a sheltered place for them, keep out of wind? What about building a box for them. If too cold add a small heat source, like a water tape. Years ago a small incandescent light bulb would have been sufficient.

Something of a Catch-22 there, David, if the heat source is electrical. Unless the genny gets started before the heat source gets cold, the propane won't vaporize enough to run the genny.:confused2:

Will you have your generator set to auto start when the power goes off, Drew?

Found this map up at the RealGas website, Drew. Had this place on it with E0 Sunoco:

Self Heating & Cooling
219 Keith Valley Rd, Horsham, PA; 267-803-4840; ethanol-free SUNOCO 95 98 112

Looks to be about 30 miles away from you, but call first to make sure they're still there.

Then there's this place in New Jersey, a little closer to you, but only have 100 octane av gas:
Raritan Valley Flying Service
41 Airpark Rd, Princeton, NJ; 609-921-3100; ethanol-free UNBRANDED 100

Good Luck!
thanks RNG, I had seen those before.
I called the first place...they sell Sunoco in prepacked 5 gallon containers, $75 per container or $15 per gallon. The 98 octane they keep in a tank on the property and sell mostly
to landscape guys for $11 a gallon. I told him I was used to paying $2.75 a gallon for 93 octane EO and he said yeah that's down South.
Just makes no sense at all...
So, tomorrow I buy 93 octane unleaded and hopefully leave it in the cans, treat it with marine stabil and every six months dump it in my car gas tank. I am not paying 11 bucks a gallon for gasoline...

came home to find one of my downspouts off the house, wind must have rattled it loose. And my wayward shopvac finally showed up, yeah.

this is totally manual RNG. Have to throw breakers in basement, however gen does come with remote control start, though not sure I'd use it, want to see
what's going on. I've had fully automatic systems in last two homes but not spending that kind of money on a rental house.

did get my 30# propane tanks filled today at local gas station which was convenient. The teed tanks will sit behind the house hooked up to the gen, which I got a weatherproof cover for, so it can run
while covered.

am wondering if I want to leave the propane tank valves open while just sitting there, might be some leakage through gen carb. Think once I test everything, will leave the valves closed and just open them when I need to run the gen.

Just did the math on the propane buy, wow that place is expensive, 7 gallons per tank, 14 gallons total, 60 bucks.

Our ethanol free 93 octane is $2.99 here just got 20 gallons for company use

Got estimate to fix wifes deer damage just north of $8000 I am surprised shocked more like it

Son goes down to our place in SC, AC on but putting out heat 116 degrees candles melted wow another Bill, solenoid though under parts warranty have to pay labor at least some savings. Will not fuss though still healthy or so I think

I’m not surprised at the cost, my stepdaughter bumped a post at the gas station and damage the bumper cover and lower headlight surround panel, doesn’t look too bad but it’s $3500 worth. That’s on a KIA Sorrento. Then on Halloween her hatch glass got shattered, not sure if it’s random failure or mischief at play.

My thermostat sometimes won’t switch from a/c to heat automatically, usually the first time, switches back to cool no problem.

Should have got some E0 on your VA trip.
TSC has good propane prices.

I miss Red Foreman. I had to call someone a dumba$$ on my way home, they pulled out of side street as I was driving by, I swerved, honked, missed them. It was dark, can’t miss seeing my headlights.

My weather station is somewhat protected, only shows 19 mph wind for today. Already 39°.

My recycling blew all over the yard. Wife and son picked it up.

I buy some things from B&H photo, but usually sound gear.

Glad I voted last week.

Wow... that's pricey! I get 2 - 40# cylinders filled for $18 each. A 100# costs $45. A truck stop about 12 miles away sells E0 93 for $2.59/gal. I guess prices aren't too bad out here....

Well, I did get out to the shop today... to open it up and pull the tractor out. Didn't do anything else... I really can't remember where all my time went or what I did that used it all up. Then it was getting dark, so put the tractor back in... tomorrow is another day.

39F and fair @ 20:00, heading down to an overnight low of 34F. Ten day still looking good with two days with a high or 70F or better.

Refilled two nyjer feeders and three sunflower seed feeders first thing, the Nat Geo sunflower feeder got a mix of cracked corn and sunflower and I tossed some cracked corn on the ground ... which the tree rats and others immediately took advantage of.

Helped do some clean up in the kitchen.

Salt delivery guy came by and I had him stick 6 bags in the loader bucket and I hauled it around back and he and I humped it in to the utility room.

Hauled trash and recycle bin up to the road.

Got the first squirrel feeder all put together, only thing left is to finish coating it with BLO ... which I'll do here in a little bit.

Modified nugget feeder so bottom should stop coming off.

The Woman is making beef stew (with both potatoes AND noodles) for the week ... and oatmeal raisin cookies ... :licking:

Hope everyone had a great day ...

Naaaaa, $5/g is normal here you only paid 4.29.
But our E0 unleaded plus was 3.8 last Thu.

wind was blowing like mad out and then power went off, UPS on computer started beeping. About a minute later power came back on.
Logged back into computer and there was email confirming my 10k portable generator was on its way and would be delivered some time on Wednesday.
Timely for sure...

Reminds me I have to get my two 30 pound propane tanks filled and my two five gallon gas tanks filled, have been putting it off since I still haven't found any E0 around,
but guess I'll just get some premium gas and every six months pour it into my car and refill the tanks. Really don't want to put gasoline in the dual fuel gen if I can avoid it, which
I likely can't since those two small propane tanks, even teed together, aren't likely to be large enough to power the gen properly in cold weather.

I have always used Avgas in seasonal equipment, it has an unlimited shelf life. It’s around $5 a gallon now. There is no road tax on it, so they won’t pump it into a car, but most, but not all airports will fill cans. It does contain lead, so it can’t be run in an engine with a catalytic converter, like the Honda 7kw inverter generator, but other than that there are no drawbacks that I have discovered.

Good evening all. 35F for the start, clear, calm wind. Sky stayed clear, wind was light, and high temp was 69F. Putter in morning, bike ride and nap in afternoon. Getting close on the Garmin set up.
Covid update: Cooke unchanged, Montague unchanged, Grayson unchanged.
Kyle good to hear son's finger is better, love to see video if his first ride.
Drew, always work to get a place livable.
Eric hope you can make progress on bricks today. Faster processor means more accurate calculations on non location items like gradients.
Ron must be nice feeling with nothing on list today :) great moon shot.
Bill sounds like winter is there.
Thomas good luck with leaf blower.
Mike sorry about the rude shock on siding.
Chris I get a lot of sunshine on the bike :)
Randy, sorry about the voting lines
Drew timely indeed.
Billy sorry about about wind, glad coffee roaster and stove are working
RNG good to hear rain is coming, nice progress.
Bird fun to wonder what happens to the critters.
RS hope you day is as well.
PJ guitar must have been playing well. I suspect most of us are ready for the political adds to be over. memory management in a lot of computer devices is lacking
Ken hope they get the hunters sorted out.
David glad to hear Makini doing well good luck with project.
Ted glad you got the Ipad running again. Glad the dust collector is working
Drew, hope you get the fuel worked out.
Bubbies sorry about the deer bill. Also sorry about the A/C bill, sounds like it was in heat pump mode.
Dennis thanks for W/S update, never saw 70's show, however Jeff Dunham's character Walter must have :)
Ted have a lot of days like that.
RS progress as always
Paul avgas does not get it's vapor pressure adjusted for the weather like car gas, so hard starting in winter is common.
prayers for all, especially Jay/Peg, Kyle's daughter, RNG/fire, Ron's son. and Country/election.
stay safe and healthy you all.

31 right now...high isn't going to be much higher at 33. Looks like about an inch of snow out there on the walks...not worth clearing

Good morning,
the temp is 20°F and the high will be 34. Wind NNW 21 gusting to 26 mph. 60% chance of flurries.

The long range forecast for the next 5 days is temps in the 50's, overnights in the mid 40's. IF it happens then indian summer will be upon us.

The Dodge is fixed...4 rotors+4 calipers+4 sets of pads+1 tie rod end+alignment=$1618.02 cdn.

According to map-quest, the little junket I am taking to get the meat today is only 2.5 hours one way. We'll see.

Have a safe and healthy day all

Good morning. Yesterday was one of those days when the weather was constantly monitoring my activities. Each time I got out the 230 Volt extension lead and drill, rain clouds would rush over the horizon and do their best to get me electrocuted. After the 3rd time I admitted defeat, will try again today. Bups, you got a bigger shock than me, $8,000 repair !

I know we try and keep politics out of this thread, I would just like to say thankyou to my friends in America for this presidential election. Now I appreciate it may not be quite as entertaining when you are the one having to make the choice of the least-worst candidate, but for an outsider like me it has helped preserve my sanity by cutting down the Brexit content on our news and comedy programs :D

   / Good morning!!!! #121,280
Seems I am now on a 4:45 bathroom break.
Forgot to mention we had very light snow flurries yesterday morning.

Wind still blowing. 11 mph peak, but I suspect it’s stronger. Think maybe I need to move weather station sooner rather than later.

Wish it would stay DST all year. Light early does nothing for me, I prefer light later.
