Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 4:00AM. Sunny. High 79F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.
AQI 20 and 87, inside and out. For the first time in a long time, there are no red hot spots anywhere in the North Complex Fire area this morning. And yesterday, CA70 through the Feather River Canyon opened for two way traffic all the way to US395 near Reno, though there are a still a few stops along the way for road construction. But the cold front that was supposed to bring us the first real rain since June is falling apart, and at best we'll see maybe a few hundredths of an inch, if that. And now PG&E is warning that another round of power shutoffs will start on Sunday.:irked:
Good luck getting your biological clock reset, Phil. But it sounds like your last week at work went well.
That's some good news, Rich, as long as the new manager walks the talk.
Don't need any cranes pecking at the weather station, right Ron?
Mike, sounds like you and Bruce put some nasty jobs behind you. Hope there aren't too many more of those left.
I use one of those HF torches too, Rick, but the one I have has a piezo sparker on it. The insulation on the wires went bad and now I use a hand held sparker from the oxy/acetylene outfit to get it going. And I got a little two gallon tank to run it. It's a lot easier on the arms and back. Put a magnet on the top to keep the sparker handy, too. Gonna get a lot of use once it starts raining. Neighbor lady showed me how to soak rags in #2 Diesel and use a stick to push them deep into the burn pile to help get a fire started. And her husband suggested that used motor oil would help if the wood was wet. He also suggested tarping the middle of the pile to keep it dry until it was time to burn.
Starting your next big adventure, Drew. Congratulations!
Got the replacement top'n'tilt valve put back on the tractor yesterday, and only had one leak. Not bad considering there were nine hoses going to/from that cluster, and all it took was to tighten one of the fittings.:confused2: Cut the broken eye off the top cylinder and welded a new one on, then hit it with some paint so it wouldn't rust. The moment of truth comes today when I put the box blade back on and see if the new valve holds its adjustment under pressure.
The new tooth bar showed up yesterday, so I'll see how well it fits today. :crossfingers: on that one, too, as the location of the mounting holes is based on my measurements.
With a chance of rain in the forecast, I need to get up on the ladder again and put plastic bags over the Unifi access points I installed outside. Turns out they're only weather resistant, not waterproof as the advertising seems to indicate. :grumpy: They're UAP-AC-PRO models, David. I'm curious what you're up to as well.
TGIF folks!:drink:
