Drew, when you buy a TV make sure it has a tuner if you want OTA channels. Not much available for 4K yet. I bought a 1080P.

I have a whole house weboost, but they have changed the indoor amp in the one they sell now. I installed the indoor antenna upstairs, so pretty far from my family room. I might buy their splitter and 2nd indoor antenna to run to basement under the FR.

This is the amp on mine, each green light indicates which band. I do notice the amp gets real hot on the outdoor antenna connection.

How does the tv listen in on telephone conversations, I assume tracking data?
Granted Comcast provides it all, including my home phone number which I assume
is VOIP.
I know that even with a "private window" cable company tracks every website I visit, but never knew my phone
was at risk. How does that work? Is this an issue also for Zoom?

Apparently the microphone in the "smart" TV, the same one that listens for voice commands, is actually listening all the time. It has nothing to do with your phone, unless you're talking on your phone within earshot of the TV.

The same can be said with the Google/Amazon/Apple "smart" devices that are also voice activated. Google and Amazon have both had security issues with their approach, but so far, Apple has not.

In order to get any sense of confidence in the Amazon reviews, you'll need to read through enough of them to get an overall impression of what's in them. The fake reviews are pretty easy to spot. They're usually short, one or two liners, usually 5-star, designed to swamp out the negative one and two-star reviews. On the other hand, the negative reviews usually revolve around one or more problems with the device, and some reviewers go into excruciating details in a truth-is-stranger-than-fiction manner that shows their validity. Amazon has also started flagging reviews written by people that actually purchased the product, a further clue that the review is genuine.

One more shopping tip. B&H Photo Video has a payment program through Synchrony Bank called PayBoo. You sign up with the bank through B&H for the card, and use it for payment. When you do, they wave the sales tax. For big ticket items like TVs, you end up saving a substantial sum of money. As nice as that is, unlike some other east coast discount vendors I could name, B&H indicates right on their website if the item you're interested in is in stock, and most of their items ship via free expedited shipping. At least both the laptops, and now the new computer monitor I've purchased through them, did.

As far as tracking your web use goes, if you're worried about that kind of thing, you could use Tor Browser, a modified version of Firefox that uses the Tor network to defeat tracking attempts. Sort of like a VPN, but without the fuss or extra expense.

Got a 20 dB improvement on my cell signal in my house, at least near the indoor antenna where my LTE internet modem is. Phone went from 1 bar to 4 bars.

Took the truck to son’s apartment to bring back a dresser. As I’m pulling into parking space I asked, you got your key? No.
So on way back home I called an ace hardware and asked about pellet prices. $259 for lignetics till end of the month. Said I’ll be right there. Pulled in, fork lift guy had just loaded a ton, I said I’m getting one, paid, loaded, in less than 5 min. Got them in the barn. Now have almost 3 tons.

Chores all done...all curtains are up, chipper and the other spring/ summer implements are stowed in the shed and the flail mower is also stored for the winter.
Didn't rig the snow blower to the Deere...maybe next weekend

I got the tractor disassembled, partially anyway. I had to detach the dash /cowl to be able to lift the fenders / floorboard high enough to get access to the trans. I am glad I decided to change the fluid.... it was all 'yucky' looking, a little foamy too. The tractor is 14 years old and the trans has never been serviced (supposed to be "non-serviceable" according to Tuff Torq and the owners manual).

After BEF was rebuilding his, I started looking into doing mine. That's when I found out the K66 is a heavy duty and used in a lot of commercial mowers. They recommend changing the fluid at 50 hours then every 200! SOOOO,.... we'll just let the homeowner ones just burn up so they have to buy another mower.....

Anyway, I gained access and cleaned everything up, no leaks noticed, even all the original stickers were still on. When I was ready to refill the oil, Thankfully I noticed I bought the wrong oil for it.... should be 5w50.... I got 20w50.... none to be had locally, so ordered online through NAPA. I can pick it up in the big city tomorrow. I will be going in to the city anyway for a Dr's appointment, so I will pick it up on the way home.

So, cleaned the mower deck and sharpened the blades instead. Finished up and called it an earlier day. Here's a few pics of the 'pile' of tractor parts.

My beautiful wifey said to say Thank you to all you kind gentlemen for the birthday wishes.

We had a great day at church. I got to be usher and help the pastor with communion, which means a lot to me. We got there early to teach Sunday school, and I'm guilty of not reading my email.....the council has postponed it until later. So, the wifey and I did gave our kids a lesson until service started.

Some friends came over after church, and brought some gourmet pizza which was awesome. Wifey made a hybrid yellow cake with added pumpkin spice. It was delicious. She made a pot of coffee and brought out the cream and sugar, (and stevia and Mootopia fat free). I did not partake in coffee, to limit my caffeine.....but it sure smelled good. She makes her coffee strong enough to float a horse shoe on....our friends will be up all night.

Afterwards, I was going to take my son and the neighbor boy, both 10, to the driving range to hit some golf balls. I hadn't hit a ball on a course in about 5 years. Wouldn't you know it, it started raining just before we got there. I hope Rick gets a share. Can't say if it will get up to Don's place or not. Well, it has stopped here, just long enough to spoil our driving range attempt.

3 Tons, will that last you the winter? I wonder what the comparison of pellets to firewood is, how many cords equals x amount of pellets. I know it takes less energy to stack pellets, but lifting 6000 lbs to fill hopper is still a bit, and spread out over the winter.

It has been cooler here, comparatively speaking, low humidity in the low '80's.

Had a manual pellet stove up till 2008. Then got the Harman stove. I have burned over 3 tons a winter, currently I have 145 bags (5 under 3 tons)

No clue how it equates to firewood. Had a wood stove in the last house. Buying firewood was over $200 a cord in the 90s. Filling a hopper is much easier and cleaner. Much less work.
I burn pellets to supplement heat in my family room and I like to see the flame burning. Last winter was really mild.

Not so much Kyle. Better than nothing but .. just hard enough to make mowing on the ZT .. not fun. It was too dark for sunglasses but the NE wind was blowing rain in my eyes depending which direction I was going. It did cut the dust though. I didn't check the rain gauges yet but .. I'd guess maybe 1/4" at best. It was very welcome.

Sorry about the driving range. I need to go do that myself.

Yes, I empty the pellet ash pan once per half ton. Last yr bought a ton of super premium really low ash pellets. Only burned 5 bags of those so far.

A coworker bought a house with a harman pellet stove he doesn’t want. I’m thinking of putting one in the basement to use while we are down there, not run it all the time. He wants me to give him an offer on his. My stove cost $3500 10 yrs ago, it runs $4k now. Haven’t decided what to offer him.

Good evening all. 55F for the start, clear sky, light breeze. Sky stayed clear, wind was light and high temp was 78F. Rain in forecast tomorrow afternoon, and end Wednesday morning about 3/4 in currently forecast, amount changes by the hour . Chapel this morning, make wife's breakfast, then we went for walk early afternoon, then my nap watched some you tube videos.

Good morning all. Two more days of dry weather to come with a high of 21C/70F, after that the rain will be here to give me a break from brick work :dance1:

Catching up on here, I read a few posts about large European churches. We live on the outskirts of a small town - Whitchurch, Shropshire - and with a name like that, it is not surprising that the skyline is dominated by a church tower. St Alkmunds is not as big as some, but is still a very impressive building. This "latest" Whitchurch church one was built way back in 1712, after the earlier one had collapsed. That does not imply any shoddy workmanship, as the original had been giving service since the year 912.

I regularly use the church as an aiming mark, though not for shooting! The route of the footpath that crosses several of our fields is not obvious where it passes over the undulating landscape, so if I am out topping, I will cut a path to guide new walkers, the very top of the church tower showing me which way to steer the Iseki. Of course this is no coincidence, as the original purpose of many footpaths is as a direct route to church.
