70 and rain going to 84.

I was up most of the night, too. Rain and wind kept me thinking. Was impressed when I turned on TV at 3AM that all 3 of the local network affiliates had their top weather crews calling the play by play on the storm. At that time we had a lot to tornadoes touching down, one near where I hunt in southern Virginia...then the eye passed right over the happy hunting grounds. Randy, glad your tornado missed you and hope no one was hurt. The local weather guys had some new tech that could pinpoint debris blowing up from the ground to confirm the tornado...hadn't heard them do that before.

Just came in from checking the rain gauge...by the time I came in was over 4 inches...I stayed out to do some hydraulic engineering...found where some vegetation growth and dirt had built up and diverted water into the barn instead of over to the French drain I built a few years ago. I should have noticed and done some light trenching...even Thomas' good prep didn't get me thinking ahead...so outside this morning in the blowing rain with a shovel for 20 minutes...at least I learned that my rain jacket is 100% waterproof...but also that it stops just high enough to allow all the runoff to soak into my cotton shorts. I also got Coco out for her morning walk.

Moved my dentist appointment to Thursday...glad I don't have to go driving in this.

wasted trip to Walmart this morning.
Had to turn around on local road and go other way since power pole down over the road. Not driving over wires.
Then get to Walmart, door would not open, finally someone came out and said they were opening two hours late due to storm damage.
Bet they had a bad leak some place...

I'll try again later this morning. Clouds clearing to sun and very breezy.

Good Morning!!!! 74F @ 4:30AM. Sunny. High 98F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Hope the wind and rain doesn't get any worse for you that are dealing with Isaias. Glad to hear of no problems with the MH, Drew, and that the power is still on.

That's good news about your daughter, too, Kyle. Hope she continues the good path she''s on.

That bench came out really nice, Ted. It's especially great you were able to resurrect such beautiful ironwork. They don't make 'em like that anymore!

Ordered the propane kit from Nash Fuel yesterday. Turns out Honda put three different air intake systems on my model, so I had to send him a photo to be sure of getting the right one. Should be here next week. One less gas tank and carb to worry about. The 6.5 kW Honda is a little bit on the big side to take camping, but it rides real nice in the side-by-side and is strong enough to run the MIG welder. It'll get a workout when I start building the shed around the generator.

Spent a lot of time on the phone trying to line up a suction line for the firetruck. Still not sure that the ends will have the correct National Hose threads on them, so still more jabbering to do.

The tank on the truck has a level sensor, works like a toilet float with a pointer arm that sticks out the side of the truck. But the bearing/pass through was dirty, so the float didn't. Got it freed up, then some sealer got on there and I broke the float off trying to free it up. :duh: Drained the water out, and now I'm seeing new rust spots on the tank where the sealer didn't cover. And also a lot of mud on the bottom. So today I'll pull the bung out again, hose things out, and then figure out how to fix the float. I have some POR-15 left over, and will use that to patch up the rusty spots once things dry out. Two steps forward, one step back.

We have had three tornados in the last hour, two confirmed touchdowns, one confirmed by debris on radar. One house destroyed near Mardela. The sky was almost a gray green color and clouds were moving in opposite directions. A little over an inch of rain This got nasty in a hurry.

Eye of storm heading your way. Probably no basements around you, but hope you have a shelter place.

Rain still here, but has slowed, and windier...biggest rain report I've seen as of 7am in Virginia is 6.8 inches in Williamsburg.

Kyle, glad you daughter is doing well...tell her if we get two more big storms, they will name it after you.

Good morning. It's 76° here it's 93% humidity and our high is forecast to get to 94° this afternoon.

I spent all day yesterday cleaning up from storm damage Sunday evening. Indications are that we had a tornado come by to visit. A good sized heathy post oak was twisted and snapped off about 10' above the ground. Some 12" limbs were taken from the top of another post about 20' away from the first.

I focused on cleaning up the broken limbs in the yard around the house first then down around the shop and now have two more burn piles.

I had to quit and head to Apparatus Check, at our VFD at 6 p.m. but .. will be back at it this morning.

First order, this morning, will be using the big tractor / grapple to pull the downed oak tree into a nearby clearing, to cut it up. My concern, where it's at, is other broken limbs still up in overhead trees.

Glad to hear everyone in Isaias' path fared well. We're waiting to hear from friends in Myrtle Beach.

RNG .. glad you're making progress with your pumper. Two steps forward .. one step back .. is a "dance step" many of us are familiar with.

Hope everyone has a safe productive day.

Prayers to all.

58°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 73° today. May get as low as 53° tonight, which would break a record. Voice on the radio this morning suggested we are stuck between the storm out east and another front, which is causing our unseasonably cool weather this week. We'll take it.

Hope you guys out east continue to dodge the nasty stuff.

Good morning to all! Another passing storm last evening, nothing in the rain gauge, but about 10 miles south, it became severe with golfball sized hail. I am glad we didn't get that!

Glad to hear that you guys on the coast made it through the storm. Those rain totals for just a couple of hours are the same for our total annual rainfall!
I just hope there aren't any casualties caused by the storm.

This morning I have an appointment to take 4 mattresses to a charity called "Beds4Kids", run by a local pastor. They provided over 50k beds over the years to impoverished kids that didn't have any bed to sleep on. They have been "behind" due to the COVID restrictions.

I need to go get them loaded and down to the facility about an hour away, so gotta run.....

Everyone have a great day and stay safe.

Good morning 70 going to 79 and tropical stormy out - 1" rain so far.

LS- Bench looks fantastic! I can do a lot of things, but make I don't make them look anywhere as nice as that.
BEF-you need to do something with that shoulder-no sleep will make anyone stir crazy after a while
Wngsprd- I dug a 50 foot trench 2 years ago when we had 4" in an hour and water had completely washed over my pool-one of the reasons why I have a tractor and 150' swale now- be careful digging in the rain, easy to do a slide, don't ask how I know.....
RNG- anti-float? Maybe look at the external float switch for a sump pump?
Randy - getting queit by you now? Tornadoes will hopefully stay far away from your area
Rick- good luck with the cleanup-glad was not by your house

Lights were starting to blink and now is all queit. Looks like the very large eye is here now...calling for another inch of rain, looks like the big stuff is missing us by a bit.
Went from Tornado warning to tornado watch-

Stay safe and be well.

Good morning All.

66 and torrential rain right now. At dawn we had a light drizzle and 74.

Tornado warning expired at 10am. Was pretty gloomy earlier with that gray-green sky that portends twisters in our region.

Forecast is for Isiais to have left us later today and for breezy sunshine by 4pm.

I hope everyone in the track of this storm further up the line is as fortunate as we’ve been so far.

Stay safe and healthy!

Frank
