Good morning!!!!

Good Morning!!!! 68F @ 4:30AM. Plenty of sunshine. High 97F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Only one chick, Ron? Hens around here seem to have three to six in their clutches. One's better than none, though. I don't go looking for these projects, but they don't seem to have any trouble finding me...:confused3:

Given the choice of chipping rust or shoveling muck, Eric, I think I'll stick to the rust. It sure likes to stick to me, as I wore a strong resemblance to Tin Man, before Dorothy oiled him, when I climbed out of the tank yesterday. One thing is sure: We'll both be very happy when these projects are in the rear view mirror!

We need pics of your excavator, Mike, preferably with the arrow straight trenches you're surely going to dig with it.

I've given some thought to some kind of curb along the driveway, Billy. Especially since the donor van has no brakes, not even an emergency brake. I spent a lot of time planning how to move both vans when the drive train was out of the other one, too. But I suspect the size of curb, or guard rail, needed to actually stop a vehicle if it ever got away would be beyond my DIY skills, so for now, caution is the word of the day. Besides, I still mow, moving up and down the hill, those driveway edges.

Bad news on the CV19 front here yesterday. Over 100 new cases were reported for over the weekend, bringing the total to over 500. Also one additional death, an eighty something with pre-existing conditions. The Governor has instituted a "Watch List" of counties that are experiencing rapid CV19 spread, which entails a long list of business closings and stricter rules for social distancing and mask wearing. This county is not on it yet, but if the current rate of spread continues, we soon will be.

Amazon's packaging procedures haven't been the best since the CV19 panic, Drew. If they do use packing, it's those blow up bags, and most of them pop in transit leaving whatever is in there to bounce around and break. I ordered a dozen cans of tomato puree a while back, and every can arrived dented. The 6' pry bar I ordered came with the end of the box busted out and re-taped, and paint worn off in several places. At least now with returns, you don't even need a box to put them in. Just take it to the UPS Store with a paper copy of the return instructions and they take it from there.

Beautiful orchids, David. I envy Sophie's green thumb! And thanks for the recipe; it looks perfect for the recycled rotisserie chicken meat from Costco, but I'll have to make do with a pineapple from the produce department.

Hope you don't have to go too deep or too far to find that leak, Ken.

With temps hovering around the century mark lately, and humidity plunging to single digits, I've seen as much as seven degrees of difference between measured and "feels like" temperatures here. And the "Feels Like" is the lower of the two.

Looking forward to your RC restart, Ted.

Ospho was going to take too long to get here, Don, so I ended up with something "just like Ospho" called Oxy-Gone. I just hope a gallon will be enough!

The solar power controller was flashing yesterday morning when I went out into the garage, complaining that the firmware versions differed between the two inverters, and it was shutting one of them off. Left messages for the contractor and didn't hear back, so I tried to apply an update. It seemed to take on one of them, but not the other. Still hadn't heard back from the contractor by the end of the day, so tried him again and got through. He'd passed the ball to the owner of the company, who did nothing. Finally heard from him, and he walked me through connecting the controller directly to the inverters to apply the update, which is not how it is supposed to work but is sometimes necessary. Starting to get the idea that even though this equipment has been in production for several years, all the bugs still haven't been worked out. I also learned during the call that I'd finally been given full administrative privileges for the online management tool, something I'd been asking for since the beginning. I used them this morning to create a daily email report of various error and warning conditions that I'll use as a heartbeat, especially while I'm traveling.

Walking around in the bottom of the tank yesterday told me that it's still structurally sound, but the metal is thin enough to flex under my weight. So whatever coating I end up with has to flex as well. That leaves me a little anxious about the various undercoating products out there, as most of them are quite stiff. Another google search turned up products from a farm and ranch oriented company that sells a urethane based coating that is very flexible and weather proof. The recommend it for use on thin steel tanks. I plan to call them today and see what they have to say. I just hope it doesn't cost an arm and a leg; I need enough to cover 170 sq. ft.

RNG, that is some nasty rust, almost wonder if you might want to add in inline filter of some kind to protect your pump. Agree you don't need baffles for stationary use or super low speed. Plus the water isn't going to be potable so whatever you seal it with can be chemically nasty as long as it works.
I learned about Ospho when I had my big boat, used it on rust in engine room,
highly recommended for marine applications. Not cheap, made in Cleveland Ohio but works very well

Have you heard that many younger boys think heat index has had it's day ? When a single number is wanted to represent how potentially stressful the heat is, they now have little hand held instruments that measure temperature, humidity, wind and solar irradiation combined together to give something called " wet-bulb globe temperature" (WBGT).
This video shows WBGT being used to protect school kids during sporting events in Carolina.
Wet-bulb globe temperature - Bing video
Wet-bulb globe temperature - Wikipedia

Good morning! Temp 78˚F, Heat index 78˚F The WBGT is 75˚F. Yes! my new weather station displays the temp the heat index and the newer Wet-Bulb Globe Temperature, thanks Eric for telling me what that was, I was wondering . . . I now have the backyard weather station installed in all phones and pads. Buckeye you are right, 2.4.
Now I have to figure out what Delta-T temp is it's 3˚F now.

RNG a gallon should be plenty, it goes on like water not paint. OSPHO can be found around here at Ace hardware and tractor supply.

Ron, good pic! I was wondering also about the lack of siblings the chick has. The turkey that was going across my back yard during the Spring had six chicks.

Good morning 73 going to 95 , again sunny and humid
Spent yesterday putting second coat of paint on front steps. Wife doesn't like the color again but I will keep it for now and get some more so all the stairs are at least the same color.
RNG - that's a lot of rust. I had a 1969 MB 280SL and used some Ospho when I cleaned up the trunk (at one time it had a cb antenna going through the trunk lid and leaking)
Worked really well. clean and prep was a chore, but was only a few square feet.

Haven't seen turkeys here is a month. all hiding somewhere. Hear them now and then.

Back to day job.

Stay safe and be well

72°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 91° today with a chance of some storms after noon. We seems to have gone from a Summer dry spell to a Summer wet spell, and it doesn't look to be changing anytime soon.

Lots of catching up to do here after missing the last four days.

Picked up the fourth new cabinet for the garage Friday morning at Lowe's. Wife wanted one more for her dog training stuff. Too hot and humid to do much after that. Saturday was kind of a loss as well, at least for outdoors stuff. We got the cabinet assembled Sunday morning, and got everything rearranged. She's happy. Still one more item, a pully lift system for the pull-behind bike stroller, that needs to be installed, then that side of the garage is done.

Got out Sunday afternoon to mow the "new ground" where the back side of the pond was filled. Definitely glad I used the tractor and not the zeroturn or rider. There were some large chunks of stuff in there that would have destroyed a blade shaft. One chunk of concrete was bigger than my head, and that was after I hit and broke it. Also found an old rusted paint can that still had some paint in it. The ground was kind of scary uneven in some places near the pond and the ditch. Pucker factor got fairly high a couple times. But, it's pretty much all mowed now. Some of it was nearly four feet tall in places. Still stunned at how fast that grew in there.

Boss asked me yesterday morning if I'd mind taking some new sample parts to a customer in what he called "Southern" Illinois. No problem. Of course, when I found out it was near Decatur ... that is decidedly NOT Southern Illinois. More like East Central. I laughed at his sense of location. He did that to me once before when he told me a customer was in Warrenton MO, which is just down I-70 from us, but they were actually in Warrensburg, which is on the other side of the state near Kansas City. So, I had a little field trip yesterday. Lots of road construction along the way turned a 250-ish mile round trip into six hours. No weather issues, though, so it was easy driving.

Delta-T - It is defined as the dry bulb temperature minus the wet bulb temperature, and provides an indication of water evaporation rate. Higher Delta T means faster water evaporation. ... Delta T is being reported on an increasing number of weather stations.

My weather station is reporting the Air Density this morning as 1.15kg/m3.
Now I have to find some info on Air Density.

91, heat index 107, dew point 73, (10:45) no idea about wet bulbs and such. Not much on my agenda today, I’ll see if the a/c in the bigger garage will keep up, if so I might go do a couple of little jobs. Have a prosperous day.

73F, cloudy, and wet @ 10:45 ... it appears that we have gotten a little rain ...

Turning partly cloudy later and heading up to a high of 86F, with a chance of a passing shower or thunderstorm.

Moved one hose and hose reel over from pole barn yesterday, need to clean that off and check it to make sure it's operational.

Need to start rounding up carpentry tools today, so I can do any repairs before I start staining the siding.

Pallets of block successfully unloaded from the van. Appears that my guess on weight was right on the money ... 1200 lbs was about all the loader could do safely.

Tore out the rotted landscape timbers and a 10' sapling out of one planting box behind the garage yesterday afternoon. Have about 1/2 dozen hostas there that will need to be replanted before I start laying block. Trimming done with brush cutter along sidewalk over on that side. More weeding and clean up done in the area by the AC unit.

Got two Trac Vac loads worth of grass incorporated into compost pile, probably another 5 or 6 still to go.

Speaking of stinky, I noticed that the dead coon I tossed on the burn pile the other day is starting to get a little ripe ... now that it's rained, probably going to go ahead and light off the burn pile.

Checked nest box no. 4 last evening, appears all five bluebirds have fledged at this point ...

Hopefully get haircut and ears plucked today.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day.
