Good Morning!!!! 73F @ 3:45AM. Sunny. High 99F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.
No gravel yesterday. Again. This is the same outfit that cancelled three times the last time I tried them. Now they say between 8 and 9 this morning. I'm not holding my breath. He had no problem switching to the recycled concrete, though, even though he said Friday he'd have a special batch of roadbase prepared at the quarry. Something tells me he never made that arrangement, either...
Good luck finding that leak, Ken. Hope you had some shade for the excavation.
All this talk of medical bills brings back bad memories. Can we change the subject?
You'd think with all the technological miracles out there these days, they'd have figured out a way to keep air inside bicycle tires, eh Bruce?:confused3:
The Governor here rolled back in-restaurant dining and closed a lot of other businesses starting at noon yesterday. This after most had spent thousands erecting barriers, retraining staff, and restocking their supplies. All with no clear tie to the resurgence of CV. The only good thing to come out of it is that public protests are now also banned. There were 33 new cases in this county discovered over the weekend, so it doesn't seem to be slowing down here, either.
Your wife is demonstrating the latest fashion in mask attire, Eric. You'd be surprised how some people out here wear them, but an alarming number think having them down under their chin constitutes "wear". But I think she's just camera shy...
Glad you dodged that CV bullet, Buppies. You too, Kyle! Scary!:irked:
Drew, you're worth every penny. Just make sure your insurance company knows it!
Two fires south of here yesterday, both requiring evacuations. They were kept to small sizes, and people were let back in by sunset. I could see the smoke from one of them, too close for comfort.
Climbed up on top of the firetruck with the shop vac yesterday morning before it got hot. Had a headlamp on and was able to see pretty well down into the tank for the first time. There's a pipe bisecting the opening close enough to the top that there's no room to get by it, so I'm save from asphyxiation for now. I also found badly rusted baffle plates that greatly limited access with the vacuum cleaner nozzle. It sucked up maybe ten pounds of rust flakes, with the hose jamming frequently with their weight and volume. Hate to think how much rust has accumulated in the parts behind the baffles, as all of them are lower than the parts I had access to. It may come down to cutting an access window or two into the tank, then weld repairing it. But I sure hope not.
Finally heard back from the solar contractor on where the placards should be placed, and got them all installed. I was confused because he sent spares, and I could find no extra uses for them. Building inspector should be out sometime today.
Rolled a motorcycle out of the garage into a shady spot on the driveway just big enough for both of us, and gave it a bath. It was "only" 95F out, but the water was cold and neither of us minded getting wet. So much so I washed two more before dinner, and swept the garage floor to boot. And this time covered two of them when I tucked them in for their summertime sleep.
I noticed fuel inside the inline fuel filter on one of them, even though the petcock had been closed. That's not a good sign, and sure enough, it wouldn't start. Float needles are probably stuck shut, so I'll have to take a look at that today and probably end up draining the tank and bowls. As well as installing a battery in the one I hope to be riding this weekend.:dance1:
