Good morning, quite a chilly damp start to the day, could be time to burn a few more sticks come this evening.

 Puts our wabbit problem into perspective !

The government has just announced that wearing face masks while in shops becomes mandatory for us from next week. Lots of childhood experience wearing a mask, though my "Lone Ranger" black one never did much to protect my identify, let alone a virus :)

My wife has been making masks, maybe a little more practice needed at wearing one

Now that’s funny!

So you deduct the entire Assisted living bill? You don't have to separate the health care from the non-health care activities/expenses?

The assisted living bills split the medical and prescription apart from the room and board. Some or all may be deductible based on circumstances.

Here's one of the best explanations I read on the subject, from website Elderlaw:

" In order for assisted living expenses to be tax deductible, the resident must be considered "chronically ill." This means a doctor or nurse has certified that the resident either:
- cannot perform at least two activities of daily living, such as eating, toileting, transferring, bath, dressing, or continence;
or
- requires supervision due to a cognitive impairment (such as Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia)."

"Generally, only the medical component of assisted living costs is deductible and ordinary living costs like room and board are not. However, if the resident is chronically ill and in the facility primarily for medical care and the care is being performed according to a certified care plan, then the room and board may be considered part of the medical care and the cost may be deductible, just as it would be in a hospital. If the resident is in the assisted living facility for custodial and not medical care, the costs are deductible only to a limited extent. In any case, the expenses are not deductible if they are reimbursed by insurance or any other programs."

"Residents who are not chronically ill may still deduct the portion of their expenses that are attributable to medical care, including entrance or initiation fees. The assisted living facility is responsible for providing residents with information as to what portion of fees is attributable to medical costs."

Poured first cup of coffee. 54° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 84° with mostly sunny skies. Got all yard trimming done. Son came over and finished barn painting. Looks good. Dr. appointment this morning. Stop at Menards on way home. Then work on clearing area under power and cable lines in small woods in front of house.
Got a good laugh yesterday. Rumor from neighbors across street is I have a girlfriend. My 91 year old aunt puts on a very good show.
As of yesterday all business have been ordered by governor to require everyone entering store wear mask. Sure hope that works to stop spread of CV.

Eric, where is your selfie wearing a mask.

Buppies, good employee tested negative.

Don, hope it cools down so you can get some seat time.

Drew, they must do something different in Michigan. All the bills from my wife and me only show up on my Medicare and Insurance statement. Occasionally I get a bill for a office visit that was miscoded. A call fixes it. It always amazes me how much they want. Then how much they get.
Eric's Wabbit.

RNG, they sell limestone with a mix of crushed concrete in MI.. Stuff works great for drives here.

David, do you use Facebook? Their Marketplace works very well.

Mostly, you going to ride your bike with a flat tire?

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

67 outside this AM. Heading to 90's. I'll just repeat that forecast for the next month, cause that is what the longer term outlook is projecting.

I need to hose down some stuff. I get nervous around these "extended" heat waves with lack of rain. Being on well water, I just don't know what is available.

Hope all have a good day. Be safe.

On hospitals and insurance, over my lifetime, I have had three significant events, all three ended up with serious dollars being owed by my. Even with insurance, which in one circumstance was "the best" a long time ago. We have attempted to keep "the best" insurance through our lives to this point.
The first event, air fare, weeks in ICU, recovery, ended with the Doctor forgiving my debt. And my employer dropping that insurance company from their plan the next go around.
The second event, covered all but deductibles and some out-of-network charges. Unfortunate when your in six figures for care, your responsible payments are still significant.
The third event, covered all but deductibles and what we thought were to be in-network charges. We thought we had the proper sign-offs on billing and services before undertaking the surgery. That turned out to not be correct on my part, fine print and such...so once again we reverted back to debt forgiveness and paying the outstanding debt.

With these care providers billing in the millions, and the dealings with insurances, one can see how people just cannot make ends meet.

Good Morning!!!! 73F @ 3:45AM. Sunny. High 99F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

No gravel yesterday. Again. This is the same outfit that cancelled three times the last time I tried them. Now they say between 8 and 9 this morning. I'm not holding my breath. He had no problem switching to the recycled concrete, though, even though he said Friday he'd have a special batch of roadbase prepared at the quarry. Something tells me he never made that arrangement, either...

Good luck finding that leak, Ken. Hope you had some shade for the excavation.

All this talk of medical bills brings back bad memories. Can we change the subject?

You'd think with all the technological miracles out there these days, they'd have figured out a way to keep air inside bicycle tires, eh Bruce?:confused3:

The Governor here rolled back in-restaurant dining and closed a lot of other businesses starting at noon yesterday. This after most had spent thousands erecting barriers, retraining staff, and restocking their supplies. All with no clear tie to the resurgence of CV. The only good thing to come out of it is that public protests are now also banned. There were 33 new cases in this county discovered over the weekend, so it doesn't seem to be slowing down here, either.

Your wife is demonstrating the latest fashion in mask attire, Eric. You'd be surprised how some people out here wear them, but an alarming number think having them down under their chin constitutes "wear". But I think she's just camera shy...

Glad you dodged that CV bullet, Buppies. You too, Kyle! Scary!:irked:

Drew, you're worth every penny. Just make sure your insurance company knows it!

Two fires south of here yesterday, both requiring evacuations. They were kept to small sizes, and people were let back in by sunset. I could see the smoke from one of them, too close for comfort.

Climbed up on top of the firetruck with the shop vac yesterday morning before it got hot. Had a headlamp on and was able to see pretty well down into the tank for the first time. There's a pipe bisecting the opening close enough to the top that there's no room to get by it, so I'm save from asphyxiation for now. I also found badly rusted baffle plates that greatly limited access with the vacuum cleaner nozzle. It sucked up maybe ten pounds of rust flakes, with the hose jamming frequently with their weight and volume. Hate to think how much rust has accumulated in the parts behind the baffles, as all of them are lower than the parts I had access to. It may come down to cutting an access window or two into the tank, then weld repairing it. But I sure hope not.

Finally heard back from the solar contractor on where the placards should be placed, and got them all installed. I was confused because he sent spares, and I could find no extra uses for them. Building inspector should be out sometime today.

Rolled a motorcycle out of the garage into a shady spot on the driveway just big enough for both of us, and gave it a bath. It was "only" 95F out, but the water was cold and neither of us minded getting wet. So much so I washed two more before dinner, and swept the garage floor to boot. And this time covered two of them when I tucked them in for their summertime sleep.

I noticed fuel inside the inline fuel filter on one of them, even though the petcock had been closed. That's not a good sign, and sure enough, it wouldn't start. Float needles are probably stuck shut, so I'll have to take a look at that today and probably end up draining the tank and bowls. As well as installing a battery in the one I hope to be riding this weekend.:dance1:

Good morning. A very comfortable 56 now. Supposed to get to 83 later. Yesterday was quite pleasant.

We both were off yesterday, was a pretty laid back day. Had company for a while. Moved the battery box for the break away brakes on my cargo trailer. It was mounted tight under the floor and had to be removed to check or charge the battery. Now easily accessible just behind the jack. Still need to get an outdoor rated junction box for all of the trailer wiring. It currently has an indoor box mounted on it. :duh: You can稚 make this stuff up. And the winning color codes are awesome....orange to black, blue to black, orange to red, etc. did a lot of labeling.

Did Kanye bobs on the grill last night. Came out quite good. Used cherry tomatoes and a zucchini from the garden. We are getting overwhelmed with cukes!

Making my first overnight business trip since February to. Need to do training for a new dealer for railroad products.

The local newspaper reports the county I live in has the lowest unemployment rate in the state. Which is unusual. Local officials are pointing to the diversity of the local economy.

Everyone stay safe out there
