RNG, now you did it.... Iwas talking with my son today about getting a couple trucks of gravel... he agreed. Now it is your fault... I cannot let you get all the fun! AND, having grilled pizza! AND, playing with a fire truck.... man you got it it all!

We all have our cross to bear, Ted.:)

I was talking with my big auger neighbor this afternoon, who has stopped using roadbase for his projects and has switched to recycled concrete. It gets ground up, and apparently the resulting dust reactivates when it gets wet, and it compacts very, very well. And since the Camp Fire, there is a LOT of it around here recovered from all the destroyed home foundations, tinted a sort of redish color by the flames. So I'll see tomorrow if the trucker can get that instead...

Good morning all. Like Drew's sister's place, it is sweater weather here too. Showers look to be coming over from Wales for most of the day.

LS, so many planes ! Never mind a hobby shack, you need an aircraft hanger.

Our chihuahua is a professional beggar. She'll even do a preemptive "roll over" to get some table scraps.
 Hard to resist that trick.

Sad times in the garden, my wife has just announced that fresh strawberries and raspberries have come to an end for this year. I know that plenty went into the freezer, so strawberry pie is always a possibility if I play my cards right. Best of all is strawberry crumble with lashings of custard, although she rarely makes that - perhaps I should I try a pre-emptive roll over :)

Morning all! First day of vacation. 65 going to 81 with high humidity. Sink repair I started Saturday did not go well, once again the previous owner improperly installed the drain piping. 3/4 inch to short on the stub out so they jury rigged all kinds of fittings and sealers instead of replacing the pipe!! I'm to arthritic to hang upside down backwards so gave up and called a plumber friend. Will be moving some dirt around the yard today and starting a project at my sisters house. Will take it slow and drink plenty of water. First up is an early morning walk with my wife. On our way now while it is still a little cooler.
Stay safe and healthy all!

good morning all. Rainy day today, half an inch predicted, raining out now. 75 going up to 90.
wish I could send this rain to some of you that need it.
Final tally for my friends in Delaware on last storm was over 5 inches of rain, but they said it was sucked up pretty well by dry ground.

Phil, that sounds frustrating, shows how doing it right the first time would have saved much aggravation.
Roy, good luck with audit.
Strawberry pie, strawberry crumble, Eric sounds like you are a lucky guy

all of you walking and bike riding in this heat, be careful out there.

64 outside this AM. Overcast and just, dare I say - cool. Had some thunderstorms overhead last night, but no rain. Very odd. I am going to have to get the hose out for the garden and flowers. The phlox are wilted and don't look good at all, and they appear to be in peak bloom.

Heading to 92 today, we shall see, if it makes it, we have a great chance at breaking the record for longest streak of 90+ days in the region by Thursday.

On the porch front, got the front of the house all sealed up with new insulation and OSB. Took some of the siding off on the outside to get the inside done. Had to work through the two side-walls, only removing one 2X6 support on each wall. Cut them with a jig-saw, no weight bearing involved, and will recycle them for something. Looks like all the wood used on the inside porch was pressure treated.

Now I just need to scrape down the ceiling, getting the glue strips off from the drywall work that was up there.

On the siding issue, the manufacturer is still in business and still makes the same color. Yippie! I took a pic of the material some 15 years ago when we rebuilt the place. An added plus, was the imprinted label on a j channel I took off. So happy about that. It alleviates fears of style and color matches.

Anyone recommend a good eco-human friendly stripper for construction adhesive removal? That stuff is probably around 50 years old and there is a lot of it. It won't chip/scrape off easily. And since it is overhead work, I am all ears for suggestions. I might run a hand sander with some serious grit to it. We shall see.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.

Good Morning!!!! 75F @ 4:45AM. Sunny. High 101F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Using a stripper overhead sounds like a royal mess, Mike. I'd be tempted to put a coarse cup shaped wire brush on the little 4 1/2" angle grinder and go after it that way. Safety glasses, particle mask, and ear muffs a must.

Didn't have much luck getting the bung out of the firetruck water tank yesterday. Not much room to swing a wrench, or put much pressure on it. Didn't have the correct size socket to get on it either, so that's on order. I did get the little bleeder fitting in the middle of it to open, though. It was pushing 95F by that time, so that was it for the day on that job.

Housekeeping and homework for the rest of the day, fed the lizards and soaked under the outdoor shower up to dinner time. Screened the first episode of a series called "The Sixties", that first came out in the seventies. Lots of familiar faces, at least to me, had me wondering how many people would recognize them now?

Gonna try to get an earlier start on the firetruck today...

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

Coffee is done brewing. 52° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 79° with mostly sunny skies. Pond maintenance done, lawn mowed, re cut spots in back field with flail mower. Where tractor tires knocked down tall grass on first cut. Long day but weather was perfect. Need to do some trimming today.

I have been watching my Gas and Electric Bills to see how much savings there has been since doing duct sealing. So far savings are just shy of 20%. That adds up to $460 savings for the year. Next 2 months will not be accurate because my wife needing a oxygen concentrator. The saving for gas electric are not the only consideration. I have better flow of heating and cooling. Which has improved comfort

Wild daisy in field.

Mostly, send it EAST. Yellow Birds. LOL. There is a Bluebird behind them.

Kyle, a rollover would get Sassy lots of treats. But she is not addicted to food or treats. But do not neglect her when she want to play.

David, glad it was not more serious than a sneeze. This is common with Shih Tzu's with their short nose. Still gets my attention when they do it.

Phil, plumbing not my thing either. Enjoy your vacation.

Eric, rollover. We all want some strawberry crumble. :dance1:

Drew, good luck with 2 weeks notice today.

Buppies, hope test are negative. GD in Yakima was exposed at a family gathering. Person and GD came back with false negative test. :confused3: Back to work today for both of them.

Roy, good luck with audit and project.

Wngsprd, hope Coco get better.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.
