Good morning!!!!

Good morning to all! Low of 54 after finally getting a t-storm. We got 3/4 " of rain in about 15 minutes if that. Came down hard and fast. You wouldn't be able to tell that it rained this morning. Maybe another today.

Got all of the r/c stuff out of the attic in the old house and moved over to the garage for sorting. There was a lot more saved than I remembered. :eek:Quite a few had previous damage, but minor, so I am sure that is why they were saved. Only the best will go out To the hobby shack, the remainder will have a new home in the garage.... somewhere.... that will have to be another endeavor...

Ron, great pics as usual. Sorry to hear that you need help to paint the barn and they can't get to you for so long. I am still stubborn enough that i will go up an extension ladder.... once up there, my brain says "you dumb a§§"! I am definitely shaky, and i think in the near future, that I won't be doing that anymore. Not worth the risk...

Drew, glad you are still thinking ahead, knowing your determination, you will find that next house. Stay the course.

Did a rotisserie chicken on the grill last night, with some baked potatoes. Turned out excellent. I am glad I spent the $30 for the rotisserie attachment. I want to try a beef roast, but previous attempts over the years have not turned out so well...

RNG, glad you are making some headway with the van. When it comes to anything electronic, I try to avoid it... had to do these days. I was just reading through the instructions for a new RC battery charger last night.... with the very bad CHenglish translation, and my new found difficulties with technology, I have basically resolved to just plug in the batteries and see what it tells me to do!

I am kinda at a crossroad with with the hobby shack.... do I put up some shelves that wifey wants, move more stuff out there first, start thinning the r/c herd / supplies, or just do some sorting of what is out there already.... decisions, decisions... :indifferent::prescription:

I was helping the neighbor mount some tie down loops on his trailer yesterday. Ended up spinning the base plate with the drill, taking out a chunk of forefinger skin about a 1/2" long... not a cut, just missing a chunk... have to be careful not to touch anything there... still hurting a bit this morning.

Well, that sums up my past two days.... it's great hearing about what everyone does daily.

Ya'all have a great day!

Oh, forgot to mention the fireworks.... since they cancelled all the big shows, a bunch of people went out and bought a bunch. They were going off all around. We have a neighbor about 1/2 mile away who is a champion MMA fighter and has a ranch here. I will say, he had to have spent thousands of $ on his display. Went on for about 2 hours and would rival any professional display. It was nice.

83F and partly cloudy @ 11:30. Dewpoint 62F. Overnight low was 63F.

No shortage of fireworks around here yesterday. At 10:01 yesterday morning (probably the time when the noise ordinance restrictions abate) the shooting started a couple of lots over. That continued for at least an hour. (This is the "new" neighbor that came in and clear cut the property a couple of years ago and is apparently a "firearms instructor" of some sort ...) After that there was the occasional firework throughout the day and once it got towards evening the pace really picked up - to the point that all the cats went and hid ... I was outside at dusk and heard a rocket as it fell onto the roof of the pole barn.

Was a pretty busy day ... but greasing the loader was not near the top of the list.

Did get the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th coats of BLO applied to the Flicker nest box ... the wood mostly just seems to drink it in, with no sign of an end ... only place it's slowing down is on the knots. Will probably throw a couple more coats on there today. Got the lid corrected as well ... but it still needs a little more sanding before BLO.

Got two tops and two bottoms cut for the mealworm feeders. The tops got a couple of coats of BLO, one bottom got several coats of blue paint and the other bottom had a slight crack/split ... so it got glued and clamped.

About midday The Woman made some of her macaroni salad using her Mom's recipe and then ran out to pick up a rack of ribs. Had her pick me up a Cold Cut Combo from Subway for lunch while she was out. She came back with only a 6" ... :( She spent some time chatting and catching up with various relatives.

Got all the wood cut for another Gliwood Slot nest box ... but didn't get it put together. I did get the roof coated with BLO though. Think I'm going to paint all the parts before I put it together. Saves having to mask it.

Thinned out some Gray Professional Rust-Oleum paint and painted one side on the back board for the "Private Drive" sign and one side of the baseboard mount for the DRST.

Around an hour and half before dark in the cool of the evening we started working on the blueberry bed, pulling weeds and giving the last plant a severe pruning and working the remainder of the peat moss into the soil around it. She actually just came in from doing some more weeding on it a moment ago and is complaining that she "needs equipment" ... so I guess that loader is gonna get greased here shortly.

Got one last order placed last night with Menards before the 11% rebated ended - peat moss and composted cow manure mainly. Might run out at some point later this afternoon and pick that up as it's ready.

Hope everyone had an enjoyable 4th.

Have a good/safe day today.

71°F and 1.66 inches rain. Garden will be very happy. But of course so will the grass LOL

My 2nd round of corn seedlings are ready for transplant. That will be first task after coffee.

Really enjoyed dinner out with wife last night. She did too. A bit on pricey side, but she is so worth it. A very very different 4th for us. 1st time since 2007 we didn’t have a houseful for celebratory potluck.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

11% has been extended another week. I would no be surprised if it continued until end of July.
I get Menards AD for next week on Thursday.

Good morning all. 7/4 weather 74F for the start, mostly clear, light breeze. Light wind day, some popup thunderstorms .05 inch rain in gauge. High temp was 95F. Opening Ceremony with flag raising, pledge of Allegiance and VFW guy gave a recruiting speech. Golf cart parade went well, no judging this year. No food trucks mini kid's rides this year. Fireworks at night watched from boat. Someone did a nice job of choreography, very nice use of mixing height and types.
yesterday's Covid update: Cooke 61 confirmed cases, 36 active cases , Montague unchanged, Grayson 630 confirmed cases, 45 active cases
Rest of 7/3 postings:
RNG sounds like WeatherUnderground is faking the data, not unusual :)
Drew glad you were able to score some groceries!
Rand I don't know of anyone that looks forward to 100F temps
Jay what time was dinner?
Mike nice pool pic. I got the same lecture on my bike ride :)
David to the water rescue
Thomas please don't start with the age thing, thought you just got new tractor.
PJ this time of year it is going to be a sweat fest on the bike, especially with high humidity. Yes I liked more days off nearing retirement, but had a lot to get done before the retirement
Don it is going to be a while around here to get below 20 active cases, more cases last 2 weeks than previous 3 months.
Dennis nice pics
RS nice looking nest box
Kyle sorry to hear about daughter, wonder if Covid and having autistic sister mare contribute to depression. Used a neck cooler (ice in small towel) last hour
RNG great story. Growing up we did good to score M-80
7/4 postings:
Hop all of you had a good 4th of July
David key to bump-head working: care and neat winding, overlaps will cause string to weld to itself.
Drew you always have been very thorough with your research. Hope you had a happy 4th
Billy much agreed !
Phil good no weather damage, and thanks for retirement update.
Roy not many people get 15 to 20 years from a front loader, yes appliances are expensive and don't last as long :(
Thomas nothing special for the 4th?
RNG after the hat hit 95F had to to slow down and ice neck. If no video I write down the sequences for each feature I wish to program, then tape my instructions to steering wheel, then just program that feature
Ron neat pic. enjoy your painting
Don sorry about potatoes, glad tomatoes were better, hope you can see wife's great aunt.
Rich good plan
RS happy greasing
Kyle is that a work compressor of someone's personal one.
David hope your town run went ok with the holiday. I have seen that dog somewhere before :)
Jay glad you got some good eats nice to know pepper spray worked, will tell stepdaughter. Got a chuckle from your recount of the overgrown squirrel

Thomas have fun fishing, hope you catch some fish.

Ted- When I first read your post (a little too quickly) I thought that you had circumsized yourself. On re-read I am sorry to read about your lost chunk of finger. I hope it heals quickly.

There’s a roadsign on I80 in PA with a Scot Run exit. It may be reflective of my sick thinking, but I always read Scrotum.

David- Thanks for the weather station link. I really should have researched a little more about personal weather stations. I am happy to read that you and Sophie had a decent meal out. Only outdoor dining is allowed in MA until this Monday when MA enters Phase 3 = indoor dining will be allowed (at reduced capacity). Honestly our MA governor has done a really decent job trying to manage C-19. Peg and I are not “there” yet, but I would like to take a bite of the smoked ribeye steak done rare-medium rare at that restaurant where we got the recent takeout sometime soon.

Bruce- I am happy that you had decent 4th of July fireworks and able to watch from your boat. I tried that once in my sailboat. I never saw so many party barges with obviously impaired skippers at the helm with their crews in worse shape .…. Never again. I agree about those bump head trimmer heads. I've been soaking my older, more brittle, trimmer string in water prior to winding on the head. It seems to help with the line unwinding in use.

Kinda along the lines of "Big Bone Lick State Park", if I remember rightly is in Ohio off I75. I am sure someone will correct me if I am infact misteaken.
