Lose a day here and it takes almost forever to get caught up; miss a month and one is lost.

In a nutshell:

Ongoing activities outside.

Curbside pickups are a way of life and other shoppers continue to exhibit social avoidant behaviors in the supermarket.

Our bear problem got out of control and We are no longer feeding and counting birds.<snip>
Good to see you back.

Why did you mount bear feeders on poles?

Ted- Thanks

Don- Thanks.

Newbury- The bears do not like the red and grey tree rats eating their food.

This may be the same bear as a yearling. He is probably getting some decent dood from the dumpster at the D&A treatment center the next hill over. That pole is so bent now that I'll need to torch it to rebend it back to almost straight again.

Good morning to all! Low of 58, humidity levels rose to a whopping 30%! Another chance of a t-storm this afternoon, not likely going to happen.

Jay, welcome back! It is sometimes hard to juggle all that life throws at us, only thing to do is let all the pieces fall, then pick them back up again.

Drew, sounds like the facility tries to lift everyone's spirits.

RNG, glad you're making a little progress with the van.

I am off to the grocery store this morning.... got delayed getting out first thing... then back home to do a few post holes, which i wanted to do first thing....
The schedule is not cooperating with the plan.... I can see how today is going to play out....

Everyone have a great day and start to the weekend!

Good morning everyone! 82 and cloudy.

Started in the shop at 4 this morning taking advantage of a day off. Working on my Kioti dash replacement and just waiting on some welds to cool. Been a little challenging but we will get there.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful morning!

That's an awful lot to deal with, Jay, but I'm still very happy to hear from you, even though, aside from your wife's improved health, your news is not good. Sometimes being able to vent to people that care is helpful, if that works for you, I'm all ears.

Look on the bright side, though. At least you don't have a Vanagon project...

88F and sunny here @ 12:30, although WB claims it is "mostly cloudy" ... dew point currently is 59F, humidity 38%, and predicted high for the day 90F - which I suspect we'll easily beat. Just heard the attic fan kick on a bit ago. The predicted high for this coming Monday is 96F and it will no doubt be a scorcher.

Slow to get rolling today ... blueberries no longer in shade at this point, so it looks like I'll be "sun-ning it" to get that peat moss worked in ... unless those clouds actually make an appearance.

Managed to remember to locate and grab the pack of new 1/4" brass ferrules when I was up in the shop yesterday, so compressor repair will likely be on the menu.

Hope to get the remainder of the holes drilled on the first northern flicker nest box, get it screwed together, the outside sanded, and coated with boiled linseed oil. Still need to locate some hinges for the lid, which I know we have ... just a matter of finding them down in the utility room.

Also get mealworm feeder done ... but with the finishes for the wood needing to dry/cure, it will likely not be usable today ... so I might just take an old cat food can and zip tie it to a tree as a temporary feeding station.

Found an extra plastic trash can lid in the garage, essentially in like new condition ... will clean that off and set it up for my fine feathered friends as a bird bath.

If I need some inside/cool off time, I'm guessing the worms are due to be fed again, plus setting up the container for the red worms, and searching for the hinges would put me downstairs in the basement for a while. When I was down there yesterday it felt like an ice box ... and that was with all the registers closed off ...

Beyond that, I have one unpleasant task I have to handle: yesterday as I was drawing water for the blueberries out back I got a whiff of a rather nasty smell. Looked over into the frog pond and discovered we have a floater. Looks to be a groundhog ... but kinda hard to tell, given its present condition. First time that's happened as far as I know.

Glad I still have the Cummings landing net with the extensible handle ...

The Woman will be working tomorrow, so likely more of the same here: trying to get a variety of things done around the homestead.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

Jay,

Glad to see you back and sorry for what you and the wife went through on meds/infection ... but very glad to hear it has apparently passed at this point.

Hope you get a handle on the bear issues and feel better soon.

68°F and .12 inches rain

Today was to give the new trimmer a workout and switch out the rotary mower for the flail to cut my middle areas. BUT after an interesting text exchange with my friend Keith I now have to go over this morning and help get his catchment tank plumbing functional. a very bright electrical engineer but maybe a bit short in the plumbing department. Hopefully what he has is fixable without starting from scratch.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
