Well, after dreading changing the starter on my Triumph.....gotta say, the dread was worse than actually doing it. First project in a long time that went smooth and easy. Never dropped a tool, never dropped a screw or bolt, everything came apart, everything went back together. It was time consuming, and I definitely took my time.

Seemed at one point, half the bike was laid out in pieces.

New starter works awesome, especially when the engine is up to temperature. Old one was getting weak. Gonna take it apart to see if the brushes or bearings were failing. Both are known weak point in that starter. The new starter is an upgrade and was slightly larger that the original.

Took the bike for a test ride. Realized during the ride, I brought that bike home 8 years ago today.

Leading a charmed life no doubt 🤙

So much going on here (as usual)
Even great news, especially Drew. (Didn’t expect you to share any info on Jay). Appears Google may cough up a #.

Forgot to add, I did get the Ryobi 40v Brushless motor trimmer. Was a hard choice between it and the EGO. Wife concerned about EGO weight/balance. Had to give extra points for Ryobi Expandit and I have additional shafts. Also liked the 3 in 1 head. Likely never use the bump mode though.
Decision was reinforced by a great deal. Cashier honored the Ryobi site price of $179 and then applied my 10% military discount. 🤙🤙

good morning all.
going to be a scorcher today, 94 predicted, that plus humidity makes it plain unbearable
first cup of coffee going down nicely. Then a small bowl of granola and fresh blueberries to start my day.
Probably a lot of food shopping going on today for tomorrow's festivities.
Facility here did a special hamburger and hot dog dinner last night as early July 4th party,
had us all sit in doorway so at least we could see/meet our next door neighbor. Mine was older fellow in wheelchair who
clearly had been through a bad stroke, but he really enjoyed talking to someone. He was a tobacco farmer and we talked about that.
lot of staff going home today for long weekend.

Kyle, your machining talents are impressive. I hope that business for all small shops picks up, otherwise lot of talent being laid off. Unemployment is trending
down but if that's all restaurant employees, maybe not that much of a help. Still at 11 percent which is super high. So many small businesses only maintain one to three month's cash reserves, what is going on now is crippling to many. Likely that bankruptcies are on the rise. Read that largest Pizza Hut franchise just declared BK, though a workout variety, meaning debtors take the hit while business tries to continue without paying much if anything on loans. Must not have been enough take out pizza being ordered. Even if business still did 60 percent of volume, could be their break even was at 80%. Close friend with coffee business was running at 60 percent, had to lay off half of staff, and rely mostly on family. They say business is slowly recovering but no vacations for them this year.

hope you all have a great Friday.

Good morning all. Not so pleasant outside today, wet and windy. An inside day and a bit of a rest is just what I need, had a slight overdose of fun yesterday digging a channel by hand back from the railway boundary, beneath the willow trees and back to the wetland outflow drainage channel.

Good work on the wheel spaces Ken, every bit of pucker reduction for slopes is worth it. Did you cut freehand or make a jig ?

PJ, sorry to hear of those laid off at your workplace. An extra day to do what you want in exchange for a slight pay cut would be many peoples dream, when work picks up again you may find yourself reluctant to ever go back to a full week.

Kyle, your friend is lucky to have someone like you to help out with all that machining. Can't be too bad a place you work at either if they don't mind you using the machinery after hours on big jobs like that.
