Good evening all. 36F for the start, partly cloudy, calm wind. Wind increased to 17-25, Sky clouded up, and high temp was 64F. Bike ride to start, nap and that's it. Knee is fine, abrasion almost healed, no other damage from fall.
There was someone who had peacocks lived next to Katy trail in MO about 53-55 mile marker. Took a while to figure out what was making the strange noises, some sounded like baby crying :confused2:
Billy I had cornbread last night too, wife says use stone ground cornmeal, makes all the difference.
Ron hope roads were good enough to get your milk.
Drew, really sad that such a good friend died like that. Wife says she gets enough hugging without outside encouragement. :drink:
RNG, nice bird pic, nice score on generator, good luck with amazon credit and AT&T. I now have verizon and have called once in over a year.
Buckeye, good luck with FIL visit and taxes. My commuter car was typically a beater, van was reasonable to tow boat and take vacations.
David(moss) good luck with tires
prayers for all.

Good morning. I must try and work out a better alarm clock sound. Since I changed from Samsung to an iPhone, a duck has been quacking each day to wake me up and so far, I have failed to find a way to gently ramp up the volume. My wife is non too pleased by the abrupt change from sweet dreams to having a mallard in the bedroom, an "or else" ultimatum is imminent :confused2:

Sorry for the loss of your good friend Drew. At least he never had the sadness of hearing that you hope to leave the area.

Good morning all. Thanks Eric and many others.
spent an hour last night talking with lifelong friend up in Delaware, and we came to an
understanding...they really want me to move near there from here. Much colder winters but
closer to family and church in PA. Probably will rent for a year or two to be sure.
And I'll be pretty close to Toppop too. We shall see.
I intend to rv snowbird half the year, one year to Florida, one year to Texas, and ? so not worried too much about cold.

Also decided to put off the trip out west by a year. Want to be able to make that possibly once in a lifetime trip without any rush getting home or worrying about this high maintenance property. Maybe I'm just too linear but selling this place and moving will be enough of a challenge.

fired up the greenhouse yesterday, made first three seed trays of zinnias and mixed garden flowers.
Whole area I did vegetables in last year will be flowers this year.

After waiting five years to do this, am excited about new path to pond.
Will be a good project this spring since I'm not playing farmer this year.

37 out now, going up to 55 in sunshine today, and tomorrow.
First daffodils saying hello.

Good morning,
temp is 30°F and going to a high of 34. Wind SSE 3 mph. Periods of snow!
Overnight we were supposed to get about 4", so far only 1".

I will go out today and shove the snow banks back a bit more. More seat time!

I am happy to report that my diet is working. When I got home from the Northwest I weighed 276 lbs. I now weigh 248 and hoping to get back down to 220 by April. I still have my beloved smokey bacon potato chips, just not as much of them. Seconds at the supper table do not happen. What I take on the first 'go around' is all that I get at that meal. Zero desserts. The only thing I flatly refuse to eat is tofu.

Have a good day all

30 going to 52 and sunny.

Eric, maybe you need to switch to the whistle of the pin tailed duck. I hadn't heard it in a while, so just played it softly on this laptop, and my dog started barking and my wife woke up saying she heard a whistle outside. Yikes.

"Made" a new firewood pallet. First time I rigged one to accept 3 stacks rather than the "standard" 2. Also had to change the stacking direction by 90 degrees. Will see how it handles things when I split some later today. Used a free pallet and mostly scrap lumber to bolt on the sides and top braces.

Haven't seen a skunk since about Christmas, but the raccoons are coming up just about every night...they're like little boo boos.

Congrats on the weight loss! Never heard of smoky bacon potato chips.

32 right now....high in the upper 30's. Doesn't look like we got the rain predicted...got a dusting of snow instead.

Well, the spreader is together and it does a nice job. Big tires and it rolls easy. I found I had a dead battery in the tractor yesterday, but didn't have time to jump it. I'll do that today, but I got a feeling it'll be time for a new battery. More on this later...

Mostly, I did get my milk. Got February 06 date on it. It will be gone before that. But good know it may last that long in fridge.

Looking, good news on diet.

Eric, sounds like you may be sleeping in the dog house if you cannot find a better alarm sound.

Wngsprd, Sassy says shut that noise off I am trying to sleep. :D

Roy, good luck with battery.

David, are you anxious to get started on carport.

Drew, I see a couple of paths into the woods. Going to be a good project.

RNG, I get email from my Comcast account that I have never gave away to anybody. Only used for communication Comcast. They got Hacked but will not admit it. Good suggestion to only access accounts from a APP or bookmarked URL. Best of the updates on my iPhone is blocking all calls that are not in my contact list. They can leave a voicemail. That guarantees that number will get blocked. It can be defeated by calling back within 2 minutes on same number. Robo callers must have something that rotates numbers they use for caller ID and cannot call back.

Prayers and best wishes to everyone.

Good Morning All.

33 here going to 40 for a high. Need to go outside and check for damage from the heavy rain last night.
Sorry for your loss Drew. Good friends are hard to find.
Jay-Glad your eyes are better.
My health is pretty much at a stand still. Not bad but not good. I'll take it for now. At least the gout is in remission! Yay!
Sorry if I missed anyone's other issues.
Stay safe and healthy!

I think there are laws on the books now that require companies that have been compromised to notify their customer base and/or the FCC. Big fines if they don't. The robo calls come from computers, and the originating number is somehow spoofed, so they can use whatever number they want, and change it as often as they like. I see calls from numbers in my own exchange, from 800 numbers, and numbers all over the country. And now, some of the voice messages feature soft music, and a female voice in Chinese. I understand legislation is moving through Congress to require the big telephone companies to put technology in place to thwart these computerized calls; I just hope the "solution" doesn't take down Google Voice, that likely uses the same technology.

Good morning to all! Low of 30, going for a high of 55. Breezy this morning, probably windy later today.

Wng, I had to google the ‘ whistle of the pin tailed duck ‘, had almost the same results.... the dog was cocking his head side to side and the wifey called out from the bedroom “ what is that sound? “ .... beautiful call... weird responses...

Drew, I am disappointed for you that you will not be making the trip this year, but it really makes sense to get everything else in order beforehand. I do not think you will have any problems filling in the time you will have available from ‘ not playing farmer ‘, I am sure you will come up with something to keep yourself from getting bored....:cool:

Hope everyone has a peaceful Sunday. Prayers sent

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 6:30AM. A steady rain this morning. Showers continuing this afternoon. High 61F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 80%.

Congrats on the diet, Bill.
I'll see you your Big Ben, and raise you:
.

This one is quiet at the beginning, Eric, sorta... And somewhere out there is an app that'll let you convert music into something that'll work with the alarm on your iPhone, but I forget the name of it.

I have a friend, Drew, that started snowbirding with his wife when they both retired. They pulled an Airstream behind a pickup truck, and loved it for the first few years. She passed from breast cancer, and he kept right on goin'. Seemed like he had a girlfriend in every RV park there for a while, but he hitched up with a steady gal and now they tour the world together. Just "did" Antarctica!

Green jays, Ron? I bet you were excited when you saw your first one! Didn't know blue jays could interbreed with parrots.

A while back, I ordered a plant based cookbook on Don's recommendation, and I've been slowly reading through the beginning pages. Yesterday I got to the recipe section, and with today's rain, I plan to make a shopping list to try a couple of them. Bread seems to be off the list, so I'm wondering: what's a plant based substitute for the all mighty lunch sandwich?

The parts for the smoke tester showed up yesterday, too, so I put that together. They say the tiki torch wick needs overnight to soak up enough baby oil to make a strong smoke, but just pouring it on gave an encouraging first test. Not enough to find a leak, but enough to come out of the air cleaner on the van and get me worried about setting off the smoke detector in the garage.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend!

Good Sunday Morning. It's a warm 61° and overcast this morning. We're expecting 77° for a high today. The rains started a bit before 10 p.m. but I have checked our rain gauges yet. I'm happy with whatever we got.

Ron ... the Rolex race is on NBCSP and about 3:45 remaining. I'm watching to see how the new Corvette C8.R's are doing in GTLM.

L4N ... I will not eat tofu ... in your honor.

Drew ... sorry your "Big Trip" is delayed.

RNG ... my iPhone 8+ is on AT&T and I often get calls identified as "fraud alert".

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Prayers to all.

Thanks Ted. My tendency is usually to bite off more than I can chew, and than work like nuts trying to get it all done.
Need to slow that down.

Decided to head rv back to Charleston SC next Thursday to see my niece, who I have always liked and don't get to see much of.
Including her 4 year old son I haven't seen yet.
Takes a straight six hours of driving to get there, all down rte 95, going to stop half way and make it easier on myself, back in Fayetteville NC.
That was where I had to turn around two weeks before.
