Didn’t get as much done as hoped, ran out of quik crete. Did get the step- transition from the main slab to the new slab and the new footer area for the carport post. Still need to do the mini wall transition from the original slab where the washer & dryer live to the new slab, about 9 in tall. All formed up, just need the concrete.
Somewhat disappointed in the quik crete. Only bought a week ago and protected by tarps, but already suffering from moisture thru the bags. Several chunks just not usesble. Good think I didn’t have to wait another week.

Long day strolling around the San Diego zoo. What an amazing place! Animals you've never heard of, all with what seems to be their home environment, well fed, and well cared for. Rain scared most of the folks away, leaving us lots of room to get around and get up close. I was inches from orangoutangs, black leopards, lions, crocks, amazing reptiles, and wonderfully colorful birds.

One of the bikes seems to have a a charging problem, maybe we'll get to it tomorrow. Headed for the desert Saturday morning...

Glad everyone seems to have had a wonderful Christmas! And that for most anyway, the weather cooperated. Here's hoping for an even better New Year...

Good Morning,
temp here is 36ーF and going up to 37. Wind SW 9 mph. Freezing rain, ice pellets and rain as well as a fog advisory in the forecast.

I've got a dump run, then get at the tarp surrounding the lean to, then fix the front door. That is my day all planned out.
Let's see how much I actually get done.

Have a safe day all

32 right now...supposed to get freezing rain, then rain today. Only thing I see outside is a light dusting of snow so far. High in the low 40's today.
No chores today, but I'm going to try the barber shop again, since it was closed when I got to Randolph yesterday.

Good morning all. Comfortably above freezing here, with a south wind doing it's best to soak all the easy to reach firewood.

Sodamo, I thought Santa would have left you plenty of quickrete as everyone knows that concreting is your favourite hobby. Maybe next year, when the elves have sourced better waterproofed gift wrap.

Randy, you must be giving your new valve a good workout pumping up the Crossman if you are reaching out to 50 yards !

Seeing all those animals in San Diego zoo reminded me of a book I got for Christmas in which is a chapter about an eccentric geologist called the Reverend William Buckland. Any guesses what the connection is ? (Going straight to his Wiki page is too easy and will be classed as cheating :D)

Prayers for all in need

46 going to 66 today in clouds and sun.
RNG, thanks for zoo pics. I had scheduled the San Diego zoo for my rv trip in April.
Definitely going now.
Hope everyone is doing ok today.
Going to wash the big tractor today and my truck.

39 and was foggy, going to 61. Not too shabby for December.

Hope everyone is still on the mend. I picked up a cold that hit pretty hard last night...coffee is my medicine of choice.

Eric, although your geologist has buck in his name, I'm guessing the connection is not with deer. More clues?

RNG, I went to San Diego for business a while back and had a free Sunday - had to pick between the Padres baseball game and the Zoo...glad I went to the zoo. It was incredible. One of my memories - I sat on a bench to tie my shoe and a hummingbird flew up and landed in its nest next to me...nest so tiny I had missed seeing it when I sat.

Split firewood yesterday, and now have an empty carry all box with more rounds on the ground back in the woods, so better go pick them up today before the rain comes Sunday. Plus move some pallets.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 50ー with light rain this morning. Heading to 40ー in PM with some sun. Got exercise bike back together yesterday. San is coming over sometime today to help move from garage to house. Then I can figure out how to program the displays. Tried to get pictures of birds at feeds with new lens. They did not show up. Did take a couple of picture to show how much it zooms. Got a heavy duty tripod on it's way to support the 4.5 lbs. lens and 2 lbs camera.
300mm and 600mm.

Little report on my Aunt with 7 wheel walker. She has adapted to the reverse brake handles very well. Had to move a couple pieces of furniture to make way for it's added size from a aluminum walker.

RNG, great pictures.

Eric, is a google search cheating?

Drew, I had to go to Trac-Vac site to see the one with canvas. Did not know they made one that was not steel.

Don, those gardens need to get done. Going to be time to plant soon.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

Ron,
It's a big canvas bag inside a metal frame, which sits on top of tippable steel garden cart. Heavy duty, but weak seams it appears.
Should have used better thread apparently.

Hope you feel better. I’m taking the same medicine, but a lower dose.

I forgot Eric’s question.

Good morning to all! Low of 34, overcast at 6 am, cloudy with drizzle right now, showers later then turning to snow tonight.

All remaining family went out to dinner last night at a previously favorite place ( not so much now). It was the Mine Shaft Tavern in Madrid NM. It was an old mining town that has become a tourist attraction with all of the old worker shacks turned into weird artsy shops. There is an old steam engine and coal cars, a museum, and a tour into one of the hand shoveled / picked mines. The food at the tavern used to be fantastic both in quality and quantity.... not so much anymore. The service was poor, they ran out of anything chicken, and anything pork.... really? We ended up staying (too far out in the middle of nowhere to go anyplace else). It was OK after a couple of cocktails.....

Randy, do not push it too hard and be the infamous ‘ bull in the china shop ‘ while working in the garage. I know all those chores are calling out to you.....

Drew, good to hear that you are getting back to the normal outdoor routine. Sorry read that the hardly used canvas cover is coming apart, things just are not made to last these days....

RNG, thanks for posting the zoo pics. Looks very nice. Looking for more pics of the ride out to the desert...

Eric, I too, have now forgotten what I was supposed to look up.... I will go back and find it again...

LFN, do not have too much fun out in the cold / wet.... sounds like your day is full for sure...

Wifey is taking MIL and SIL into town to get their nails done. AAAHHH, peace and quiet for a few hours.... I will savor the moment.... it has been ‘ loud ‘ for the past few days... a lot of excited ‘ catching up ‘ going on....

Everyone have a great day. Prayers sent.
