20 degrees right now...high in the upper 20's today...

   / Good morning!!!! #103,642
Good morning,
temp is 6°F and going to a high of 28. Wind ESE 3 mph. 60% chance of flurries.

The Dodge is going into the shop today and search out a slow-to-start problem. I think the starter is on its' way out, but it could be the battery or both.
After that, come home and conserve energy.

Have a good day all

Good morning all and happy Monday. Only 9 more days to Christmas.

35 out going up to 66 today in nice weather, going to make the most of it outside, and then 71 tomorrow with more rain. Then it gets cold, as expected.

Ted, great job, it looks good. You'll sure appreciate it in the summer.

Need to make a run downtown, didn't have some nice clean 20's for mailman and garbage man.
I always write Regular Mail Carrier on the mailman envelope, always wonder if part time help snags the tip instead.
Good test of moral character...
Noticed my trash can was lined up nicely at an angle for me to take back in. Those guys remember from year to year...probably because
very few people say thank you. Tipping is not as expected here as up North.

The new podiatrist who made an "orthotic" out of medical tape for me really knew his stuff. Foot feels better already.
I do wonder why he rolled his eyes after looking at my expensive shoe insert. Had to take tape off this morning, four days of not washing was clearly plenty, thankfully the tape did not leave residue. I think I'll keep wearing the night splint and see if that helps. Plus I'm doing stretching exercises now, which I probably should have done since the beginning.

Hope you all have a nice week and those who are mending feel better.

When I was delivering the rural mail, at Christmas time people would put out either chocolates or wine. I shared the run with the boss. I am diabetic so he got all the chocolate and he only drank beer. A satisfactory arrangement.

Always nice to hear from you Jim. Like a voice from the other side of the world..I admit don't totally understand how this all works, but then I can't figure out why heavy metal airplanes stay up in the sky, so these can be the mysteries of life. It's nice to be able to use Google Earth to look down at Tauranga. New Zealand
is pretty unique, but I'd need to come by cruise ship and likely out of my budget...I stopped flying years ago. And why I got a small motorhome instead to go see the world.
Can you imagine if we were all connected by bridges and roads?
Probably not a good idea for a variety of reasons.

   / Good morning!!!! #103,647
Cruise ship might not be a good idea right now after what happened to a recent ship visit. White Island is only about 60 miles away.
If we were connected by bridges I'd never be home. I love driving although my current fad is recreational cycling on my electric mountain bike.

Dons post is accurate in as much as it covers, mine is a natural valve that doesn’t slap open and shut like that, it’s more flexible and doesn’t damage the red blood cells so you don’t need long term blood thinners.
They also put a line in the opposite side for emergency use, and one in the carotid artery and insert a pacer and an arterial BP monitor.

39 and raining...snow about 10 miles west. Should only go up to 41.

Frank, beautiful dogs!

LS, smart work on canopy.

Roasted coffee yesterday until the wind died down enough to go out and change the oil in my wife's SUV. The last change was at the dealer (the last free one) and they sure put the filter canister on tight. I was making such straining and groaning sounds my wife came over to rescue me from some imagined catastrophe. Even though the local weatherman said rain would be to the north today, glad I didn't wait until this morning to re-tarp my firewood and bring in a load to the porch.

Went on skunk patrol this morning, but only saw a raccoon.

Don, thanks for sharing that animation. Amazing. I wondered if the hook was gonna caught on something.

Poured first cup of coffee. 23° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 36° with partly cloudy skies. Got about 1" snow yesterday. Walkways have been cleared. Played with camera setting yesterday. Did not make much progress. But did get a couple pictures. Here are 2. No plans for today.

Buckeye, glad you got some sleep.

LS, good looking canopy.

Looking, good luck getting Dodge fixed.

Drew, it's about time I did something with my left foot and ankle. I see primary care doctor Thursday. I added it to my list of things to talk about.

Randy, do you need to take anything for body rejection of something foreign in the body. Glad procedure went well for you.

Don, amazing procedure. Thanks for sharing.

Good Morning All.

Ron, apparently not, it has never been mentioned.

Is that a yellow cardinal on the bottom? I saw one last year.

37 and showers now, mixed precipitation and 32 early. Rain and cool today.

Great dog and cardinal pictures!
Have a good one. Prayers.

Here is my procedure in detail if anyone is interested.

Narrative
The right neck was prepped and draped in usual sterile fashion. Under
ultrasound guidance, an 8 French sheath introduced the right internal
jugular vein. Following this, Dr. Todd floated a 5 French balloon tip
pacemaker to the RV apex. An occlusive dressing was applied after
appropriate pacing thresholds were obtained.

Both groins were prepped and draped usual sterile fashion. A 6 French
sheath introduced into the left femoral artery and 2 pro glide devices
followed by an 8 French sheath were introduced to the right femoral
artery. He was then heparinized to an ACT of over 300. Following this, a
6 French pigtail was introduced left femoral artery to the noncoronary
cusp. A 6 French pigtail was then introduced into the right femoral
artery and through this an 035 confida wire was introduced. The 8 French
sheath was then changed out for a 16 French Edwards sheath without
difficulty. A 6 French JR4 was then passed over the 035 confida wire into
the ascending aorta. Using a straight wire, the valve was crossed easily.
The confida wire was then reintroduced into the LV apex over the JR4
catheter. The JR4 catheter was removed and a 29 mm Edwards sapien 3 valve
was advanced into the descending aorta and prepped accordingly. After
prepping, it was advanced into the aortic annulus without difficulty and
with rapid pacing at 180 bpm was deployed. Final aortography revealed
trivial to mild aortic insufficiency. A 6 French pigtail was then
introduced over the confida the wire into the LV apex and simultaneous
pressures were obtained and were as follows: Left ventricular pressure was
92 over an EDP of 10 to 18 mmHg and simultaneous aortic blood pressure was
90/55 with a mean of 84 mmHg for a peak to peak gradient of 2 mmHg.

Protamine was given and the left leg was closed with anxiolysis. The
right leg was closed with 2 previously placed pro-glide devices.

Conclusion: Successful placement of 29 mm Edwards sapien 3 valve via the
right femoral artery.

Is that a yellow cardinal on the bottom? I saw one last year.

Somewhere around here they found and tagged a half & half cardinal about a week ago. See article below - they also mention the exceeding rare Yellow cardinal.

Good morning! 44˚F light rain, cold front blew in will stay cool today - in the 50s. Costco run today to finish Christmas shopping. Will be driving in the intersection of distracted drivers - the scene of the wreck - but this time in a rental car.

A few months ago, I picked up a used golf cart canopy, a couple pairs of mounting brackets, and a neat basket type thingy for $40. Only other things needed were some 2x3 square clamps. Today, I decided to finally put the canopy on the tractor (wifey did not have any honey do projects). The whole project took me longer to pick up the stuff than it did to get it mounted. Worked out better than I thought it was going to. There are even a few bolt holes in perfect locations to mount some cube lights (next project in a few weeks). I am hoping to get it painted to match this week, I will post some more pics then.

Looks like it was meant to be...nice work LS.
