Got oil changed in ZT finally. Had son pull it in garage. Real easy actually.

Now i need to change subaru.

Then i had him pull Ranger in garage. I could get in it from wheelchair real easy. So i took it for a spin around the homestead. Really grown up around the field since they havent mowed it. Think i might keep ranger in garage for now so i can get out some.

Wife got new pump sprayer for sevin. I had the old one working yesterday, but when she went to use it was clogged again. When im better i will clean it out good. So got new tank ready to go.

Hair cut lady just arrived.

Drank 8 plus cups of coffee this morning. Betty, my wife for 57 years passed to a better place this morning.

Oh Ron, I'm at a loss for what to say. My lump just hit me in my throat. Just know that you and your family have our prayers through this difficult time.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner, I've not been online much.

Prayers for those in need.

Stepp, my buddy is doing an old Bronco. Has beefed up both axles/differentials to handle the 500/600 hp he is building. He has bored and stroked the 302 to 347 cu in IIRC, plus he's putting a blower on top of it with fuel injection. Stroking the engine was a big undertaking. But he wanted bigger bore and stroke to maximize the blower's potential.

He wants to be able to rock climb, with instant torque, that only a blower can give. He will probably tune it down after he snaps a couple of axles or transfer case.... I told him if he stomps on it while on asphalt, it will probably do a 180 on him.

So much to catch up on. too little time.

You know how one little thing leads to a bunch of extraneous chores??? I mowed down the garden with the rider. The blades are dull. No problem, I'll sharpen them. Take off blades, sharpen and when going to put back on, I check the pulleys. 3 of them need bearings, but 2 of them are designed to chunk and replace since they are riveted or spot welded together from 2 halves. I carefully pried out the seals on the bearings, cleaned with gas and greased them. Hopefully, they'll last a while. Then I'm putting them back on and I notice a bad spot on the belt. I looked up the p/n on Deere parts, OUCH over $71....I called my carquest parts dealer and he had 1 in stock for $37. Half price. Sold.

It is so hot, you really have to pace yourself outdoors. A fan blowing on you just blows 102F breeze, which is hotter than your body wants to be anyway. Drink lots of cool water. I'm glad I put a water fountain in the barn. It might be my handiest tool in the barn.

Take care all.

While you Texans are frying in the heat, not liking the way that hurricane path is now playing curve ball.
Was going to go foodshopping tomorrow morning anyway, looks like a little extra now.
probably will be slim pickins for bread and rolls.
Bet the 2 percent milk is gone too.
There will be lots of almond milk and lactose intolerant milk but normal milk?
They said 2 percent milk was their best seller, and the one they are out of one out of four times I go there.

Going to put grapple on big tractor and be thankful for my full 1000 gallon propane tank hooked up to whole house gen.
If this floods down by the River, which is likely, I may wind up with some houseguests.
Always wanted to be near the water and not in the water and this kind of weather sure reinforces that desire.

Cruise ships must be scattering in the Bahamas, mass panic in South Florida boating world, most insurance requires boat to be hauled in path of hurricane,
and try getting all the boats from Stuart to Miami out of the water. A monumental task, with big megayachts going way up the New River in Ft Lauderdale seeking
a hurricane hole/sturdy marina. Here's this laughably narrow channel going up between zillion dollar homes, and these huge boats simply hog up the entire channel.
If you are going the other way, good luck. I just love it when the air horns start...and those big boats have some serious horns.

got a lot done today, finished all the mowing, pretty tired and sore. Tomorrow morning guy is coming to get chipper, I put a strap on it holding it down to the pallet, visions of this thing slipping off and crashing down to ground. He can keep my old strap, once I get it on his truck it's his problem.

OK here's what I have so far for August electric bills. As Ron pointed out our Texas Town is getting national attention for being a flop on green energy. Actually all the houses here have a natural gas connection so how does that work?

Electric only.

Txdon - 1225 kwh $175 = $0.14
Rick - 3982 kwh $429 = $0.11 (Rick, is this one meter?)
RNG - 989 kwh $256 = $0.26
Bird - 1600 kwh $200 = $0.13

I missed some too many pages to go back please add yours.
Numbers are rounded.
So far with 3 days to report Rick is winning with most electricity used and RNG is in second place with most expensive electricity (kwh).

Note: the price per kwh is not the price on your bill it is the TOTAL bill with all fees and taxes divided by kwh used.

One Meter Don. Do I get points for cheapest power too?

Well heck here's a couple of numbers for you;
1284 kwh for $167.34 or just over 0.1303 per kwh,
and I make all our hot water with an oil fired boiler so no water heating in these numbers just the house and a small occasional use shop.

I don't have a bill for August yet so there are my numbers for July.
1826 kWh purchased
1888 kWh sold
3650 kWh generated
3588 kWh consumed.
Electric bill 140.26
Our utility doesn't offer net metering. We produced more energy than we consumed but we still have an electric bill. We buy retail for 0.113/kWh and sell wholesale 0.035/kWh. Nevertheless we save quite a bit of money. Our bill would be about $444 without PV for July. There are about two months per year (one at spring and one at fall) when our electric bill is zero or near zero. January and February might be over $320. April was $4.75. Our average electric bill is about $120/month including $39 fixed charge.

OK RIT you do not fit the mold in this contest. For those like you and David that produce all or some of your own electricity there will have to be another contest that figures in the greatest cost of your generating systems. The one that cost the most wins.

Rick this is a contest of MOST not LESS. So no, you cannot win Most electricity used and Less cost per kwh.

*Rick - 3982 kwh $429 = $0.11
Bird - 1600 kwh $200 = $0.13
LNY - 1284 kwh $167 = $0.13
Txdon - 1225 kwh $175 = $0.14
**RNG - 989 kwh $256 = $0.26

*1st place so far in kwh used

**1st place so far Cost per kwh

Geez Don, not much of a contest. Had close to $60K in my original system and that was before some generator exchanges, total battery replacement 2 years ago and replacing all original PV. Throw in price of diesel and I’ve got to be highest per Kwh as my usage ranges 22-27 kw/ day, will finish Aug just about 700 kw for the month and that includes the rented cottage at 3.3kw/day average. Of course we don’t have ac, so are toughening it thru at 77° right now.
