Good morning!!!!

Good morning to all! Low of 51 degrees at 5am this morning. Going up to 88 today. Temps increasing a few degrees to the lower 90's by the weekend. Over the past week, clouds have been very threatening, but no rain. Storms all around, heavy rain just a few miles away, but nothing here.

Drew, good to hear that Randy is feeling better. Amazing what a little more blood flow can do!

Scrambler, it's very hard to prepare when your canine friends get old. It never gets easy.

Today might involve running some errands, not sure.

Everyone have a great day! Prayers sent out for all!

Good Morning!!!! 77F @ 4:30AM. Sunny. High 107F. Winds light and variable.

Good to hear the news from Randy, Drew. Thanks for passing it along.

Boo Boo seems more comfortable with you than you do with him, Thomas. That doesn't sound like a comfortable arrangement at all. I wonder if one of those high pitched ultrasonic noise maker things would do anything to improve matters?:confused2:

Seems like everything costs more in California, Eric. More rules means more costs, and more people to pay all along the line.

Speaking of electricity, my Facebook posting on the power pole/palm tree fire has now elicited 338 reactions, 399 comments, and 99 shares. Most of the comments are critical of the utility's poor maintenance practices that let the tree get that big to start with, and their failure to remove flammable brush below it and the transformer. It was also revealed that an electrocuted squirrel fell to the ground and likely ignited the fire. Had that ground been cleaned to "bare mineral earth" per local fire safe guidelines, there would have been no fire at all. Yet some commenters still steadfastly support the utility, claiming it as an act of God, or that somehow it is impossible to make it safe under all our power lines, or even that since last year's fire we're all to sensitive and we're over reacting. PG&E has already admitted that the failure of a high tension lead support on a steel tower that was over 100 years old was the cause of the Camp Fire that very nearly burned my house down, and has since de-energized that entire circuit rather than try to correct the problem. They've also declared bankruptcy in an effort to dodge lawsuits from over 15,000 injured parties such as myself, and the families of the 86 that died. And now we're too sensitive? I think we're just getting started.

Spent yesterday morning fitting straps for a tank bag to the red motorcycle, and then dug out a bash plate to protect the bottom of the engine and mounted that. A similar plate needs to be fabricated to protect the transmission; it's no longer available from the factory, but I was able to order the clamps to hold it in place before they were discontinued, and I have the plate on another motorcycle to serve as a model. So I did some shopping at McMaster-Carr to get some aluminum on the way, and learned that alloy 7075 costs nearly twice as much as 6061, and while it is stronger, it is difficult to justify over seventy dollars a square foot when the 6061 plate on the other bike has shown that 6061 is strong enough.:confused2:

Also got a call from the solar power system supply company yesterday, inquiring about the engineering firm I'd asked to alter and stamp their grid support design. I haven't heard back from the engineers yet, but was told that the solar panels that were originally specified are now unavailable, and that a slightly less powerful one of the same weight and dimension would be supplied instead. Apparently that's pretty common as the manufacturing methods become more efficient and the makeup of the cells becomes more productive. It shouldn't effect the design of the grid support, but I will need to update my building permit application with a new spec sheet.

The local airport is hosting a B-17 and a B-25, offering tours and rides this weekend. My body shop neighbor wants to go see them, and so do I, and I'm wondering if I should surprise him by purchasing two seats on the B-17, which he said was the safer of the two.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Drinking first cup of coffee. 60° with light rain this morning this morning. Heading to 76° with mostly cloudy skies. Lawn got cut yesterday afternoon.
Dr. appointment yesterday did not go good. Betty has decided that Hospice is the best path for her care. Family is getting together to help with her decision and care.

Kyle, sincere condolences for your Aunt. May she RIP.

David, we have a Hawaii picture album from our 2 week second honeymoon/25th anniversary in 88. None of the pictures compare to your pictures.

Drew, thanks for the Randy update.

Randy, prayers that recovery goes well.

Buckeye, your escape on the 23rd plans. Seem to be coming together very well. Taking your physical therapist with you makes it so much easier. :D

Scrambler, sorry about your dog. We have a 14 year old dog. Cannot see and hard of hearing. Has a problem with our 5 month old dog barking. Spends most of her days on porch. I spend time out there with her everyday. Just petting and talking to her.

LS, sorry your knee is not better. I know about sleeping/eating patterns can be hard to live with. My wife and I have always had different patterns. But we have still done well with. She adapted to me. She can take naps. I cannot.

RNG, B-17 ride.

Prayers for all those in need.

Good Morning All.

Good morning! A cooler 75˚F this morning as the cold front pushed through, but highs will creep up to 100˚F.

Drew good to hear Randy is feeling better. I wonder if he will be ready to stop his arteries from occluding with a just diet change. I'll be here with a roadmap if he needs it.

Rules clarification in the Electric game: You can include all fees and taxes that are directly related to you receiving electricity for the highest bill 2nd place award.
An example of what you cannot include is like on my bill where the water bill and the garbage bill is added - these charges must be subtracted from the bill but the surcharge for going solar can be added. This is not an exercise on the cost per KWH it the final cost to you in the hottest month of the year.

Eric I thought you already sent all the rule breakers to America centuries ago and only the decent law abiding people stayed behind.

Kyle, was your Aunt your mom's older sister?

Hi guys! Stent in and flowing like a river, getting appointment to begin the TAVR valve replacement process. What a miraculous world we live in!

BEF, I found that when my BP dropped during PT, that a bunch of water would get it back up. I’m still watching by the way, Godspeed.

Right now I’d say to 50/50 if I go home today, but discharge has been in to get the Medicare release signed. We will see.

Everyone, thank you so much for the prayers and wishes, we have an awesome creator!

There you go making it more complicated. One other little thing that I don't really like about TXU Engery is their billing. I paid my bill for the last month ($201.49) this morning because their website showed it's that amount. But the actual bill will not be available online for "one or two days" and would not have to be paid until the first of next month. Now I have no idea what other company's bills look like, but just for an example, my last month's bill was $187.39 for 1420 KWH.

Now the "breakdown?" on the bill shows:

Base Charge...…...…...……………………………………..$9.95
Energy Charge (1420 kWH x $0.0810000)….$115.02
Subtotal:...……………...…….........…......………….$124.97
TDU Charges and Other Fees
Oncor TDU Delivery Charges...……………………..$47.93
Gross Receipts Reimb………………...…………………..$3.45
Subtotal:...…...………………......……......……………$51.38
Sales Tax:...………………...…......…...…...…………...$3.09

Service Address Charges Subtotal:...……...….$179.44

Total Miscellaneous Charges...…….........…………..$7.95

Current Charges:...………………………………………...$187.39

That $7.95 miscellaneous charge is probably money wasted. It's for any necessary repairs due to a lightning strike.
