74 going to 98. Rain went north and then south of us again. I must not be holding my mouth right.

Ron, crazy seeing a gator walk by.

Went in Home Depot to buy new screen door springed hinges...saw a hitch receiver with ball already attached, so picked it up...I spent so much time looking for my old one, and the places it could be are very limited. Replaced the hinges on the screen door...the middle one has a tensioner...I thought it was a gimmick, but it's pretty neat...I may have tightened it too much...door kicked me in the butt coming in this morning. I'll let my wife decide if I need to loosen it.

Time for another coffee.

Ron, with Christy and your FEL the neighborhood would be cleaned up real quick.

Good morning! 77˚F heading to 97˚F. Lawn day and Pickle day. Not to be confused with pickle ball day.

Buckeye hope you had a restful night.

Rick, need to find out if that mobile showroom is coming near you...
pretty zowwy looking, like an Americanized Lamborghini with a Camaro rear end. ?

I think some risk of being a first year early adopter, but they've been working on this mid engine replacement a long time.

Read this morning that more people are members of Amazon Prime than voted in our last national election
or go to Church.

Little excitement in our town yesterday. Someone's pet alligator got loose.

in Michigan? A Northern version of a walkabout, out for a stroll
problem is folks think they are slow, if they see something to eat, can move faster than many can run.
Further South in North Carolina you find alligators, but not here. Thankfully.
Carnivores with really big teeth walking around.
Like my local black bears...everyone says population is rising.

80 degrees again this morning, going for a high of 97 and sunny. I figure I've proven the theory that old people and fat people suffer more from the heat, since I'm a participant in both those categories, so I got out at 4:30 a.m. and mowed the yard in about an hour, then got the sprinklers started.

My wife and I plan to go get the first dose of the new shingles (shingrix) vaccinations this morning.

78 outside this AM. Heat Index will be 105 for the next couple of days. Warnings start at 11am. Just in time for my siesta. Not much planned today, maybe grass work of some type.

RNG - Safe travels, I would have brought something home from the adult store. LOL.

txdon - glad it worked out for you. I have three lawyers all in various states of fail, IMHO. All on different things. I need closures.

Hope BEF and toppop are on the mends.

Buppies and wngsprd, you all stay cool these next few days.

Hope all have a great w/e. Be safe. Be smart in the heat. Drink a lot.

Don't know if it is a sign. Gator was spotted and captured at Catholic Church.

76°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 98° today. Hot.

That seems to possibly be the thing people complain most about LS open station tractors, David; the lack of a cup holder. They are molded into one of the rear corners on the cab versions. As for the loader operation and speed control, I don't know that I've ever ran mine over PTO speed. Most stuff is done around 2000-2200 rpm. But then, I'm not really taxing my tractor as much as some do. The hardest work it does is move some gravel from time to time or mow the pasture.

Seems to be an awful lot of stories in the news lately regarding gators in places they shouldn't be. Who on earth thinks it's a good idea to keep one of those as a pet?

Be safe out there today, fellas.

I'm a bit confused here RNG. The XR41XXH series has three ranges.

If I'm going down the road I'm in Range 3. Usually about 2000 rpm and push pedal to get speed I want, and set cruise control for long runs.

If I'm mowing, with 72" Bush hod or 84" RFM, I'm in Range 2 at 2400 rpm (540 PTO RPM) and use pedals to adjust forward or reverse speeds. On long forward runs, I use the cruise control.

For dirt work, I'm usually at about 2000 rpm and use Range 1 and 4WD if pushing into dirt pile or pushing over small dead trees. If I'm grading, still about 2000 rpm and Range 2.

I've never had to be above 2400 rpm.

Is your Kubota a gear tractor ?

Thanks for the clarification on what RPMs should be set with the hand throttle. My Kubota has an HST. The point I was trying to make, Rick, is that on that Kubota, the ONLY time I use the hand throttle to boost RPMs is when I'm using the PTO and an IMPLEMENT needs a certain RPM setting to work properly. At all other times, the hand throttle is off and the rocker pedal that controls the HST also controls engine RPM. Just like a car with an automatic transmission. From my little test drive yesterday, the only way to get the LS tractor to go faster was to advance the hand throttle to provide additional engine RPMs. With the hand throttle set to the lowest position (off), the tractor would move when I pushed a pedal, but would stop accelerating once the pedal had gone through the first third or so of the available stroke. When the tractor came to a stop, if the hand throttle was on, it held the RPMs at whatever level they were set at, and that seems wasteful, and generates a lot of unnecessary noise as well. Both the Kubota and the Deere offer modes on the HST to emulate an automatic transmission car, and I was surprised that the LS, according to the dealer, did not. The LS behaved more like a gear tractor, with only three gears, that had a shuttle shift that allowed the user to avoid using the clutch. So in the case of the LS, just because it says it has a hydro transmission, it may not behave in all ways like hydro transmissions from other makers. That's probably something I could get used to, just like having two pedals instead of a rocker. I just didn't realize that a car automatic transmission experience was an expensive luxury reserved for tractors with fancy price tags.

RNG, too bad you don't have a big multi-brand dealer like Messicks near you. Saw a new video of theirs last night, about why front axle seals on
SCUTS and CUTS break so often, because loader has more capacity than front axle. That's not good engineering for sure, and suggests manufacturers are
in a spec war, fueled by marketing. It's like putting C rated tires on a trailer that needs E tires. Won't end well...

I'd be like a kid in a candy store at Messicks, Drew! I didn't know about the axle seal video, but have experienced first hand the under designed nature of the front axle on my current Kubota. When I purchased the 4-in-1 bucket the dealer warned me it would be heavier than the bucket it replaced, but he neglected to mention it would put added wear on the front axle components as well as the FEL. To date, I've had to rebush the pivots on the FEL and replace front axle seals and a broken hub. And now the seals are leaking again.

It seems contrary to my engineering training that a company would design components that would fail at less than the advertised capacities of the tractor. In other words, a customer should be able to load a bucket up with gravel and side hill all day for a year and not break loader mounts or front axle parts.
