Good evening all. 79F this morning, mostly clear, light south breeze. Wind speed increase quickly, Sky was partly cloudy and high temp was 95F HI 103F. KP duty to start this morning, more sand burr removal ( Rick, just pulling at this point use pre-emergent spring and fall), test drove EZ-GO 72 volt cart, Impressive to say the least, but another 1K over the Yamaha, wife and I are contemplating our choice.
Kyle the cart is well equipped, but no lift kit, does have folding windshield, side curtains, lights, and cooler, which will detach for use in the boat

Mostly, did you get to drive the 72v that had the rabbit and the turtle speed toggle switch? Does the Yamaha also have the 72v now? EZgo also has the lithium but with not as many options - when I was looking.

Pipeline meeting went well deal is closed. The pipeline guy said I do just what the lawyers do - add more Grantor favorable stipulations to the agreement and get the better price, so my mom was able to keep the extra money instead of giving it to an attorney.

I did manage a test drive at the LS dealer this afternoon, he's actually more like a distributor. This guy's property was huge, and he wholesales tractors all over the Western US. Stacks of riding mowers, rows of tractors in all sizes, and a pretty good selection of attachments, too. He had tires stacked in columns high enough to be a fence, and they want on for several hundred feet. David, if you need tires, Lane Tractor Supply in Los Molinas, CA can surely help you out. Anyway, they put me on an XR4150H, a 50 HP CUT, the largest frame they sell with a Hydro transmission. It drove/rode similar to the JD, and like the JD, the FEL performed pretty sluggishly. Even when I bumped the hand throttle up to 1500 RPM, it was noticeably slower than what I'm used to on the Kubota running at maybe 1000 RPM. Also, unlike either the orange or green tractors, this blue one wouldn't go very fast until the hand throttle was used to boost the RPMs. On the other two, the pedals act like the accelerator pedal in your car; the harder you press, the more RPMs/speed you get. I asked the LS dealer about using the hand throttle, and he said they're all like that.:shocked: Basically that means that when doing loader work, or any time you need power, the hand throttle would be set to 3-4K RPM and left there to keep the tractor and FEL moving at an efficient rate. Or at least that's the impression I was left with. Am I wrong?:confused2: I'd also asked if I could take a scoop or two of dirt, and was told fine, but they wanted to put a used bucket on the tractor first. Even better, as I wanted to see how easy it was to swap implements on the front. Turns out visibility of the SSQA isn't very good, being mostly blocked by the bucket arms. Or was it the front tires, I forget. Still managed to hitch and unhitch the bucket without any problems, so it wasn't a show stopper. Between the two, though, I'd rather operate the Deere, but I'm not sure it's worth another $22K.

But the really big news of the day came when I stopped by a Mexican concrete statuary yard, which just so happened to be right next to a very large adult store.:laughing: They had a perfect little birdbath and wanted only $35 for it, so it came home with me. I wasn't out of anything, so I skipped going next door and finished the day grocery shopping in Chico.

I'm a bit confused here RNG. The XR41XXH series has three ranges.

If I'm going down the road I'm in Range 3. Usually about 2000 rpm and push pedal to get speed I want, and set cruise control for long runs.

If I'm mowing, with 72" Bush hod or 84" RFM, I'm in Range 2 at 2400 rpm (540 PTO RPM) and use pedals to adjust forward or reverse speeds. On long forward runs, I use the cruise control.

For dirt work, I'm usually at about 2000 rpm and use Range 1 and 4WD if pushing into dirt pile or pushing over small dead trees. If I'm grading, still about 2000 rpm and Range 2.

I've never had to be above 2400 rpm.

Is your Kubota a gear tractor ?

Good morning. A couple of hours outside will be enough today, rain has started and expected to keep coming all day. It's a shame I already swept the floor in the tractor shed yesterday, that would have been a good one for staying dry. It always take longer than I expect, the hard broom kicks up too much dust and the soft broom struggles to move the dirt. I wondered when the pictures of cyclone filters came up the other day if they would lift sand and dry grass clippings ? My shop vac would do it, but the bag would be full in no time. Or maybe all I need is a Goldilocks broom that it not too hard and not too soft ...


RNG, can you get hold of a manual for the LS you were looking at ? Using hand throttle to set above 1500 RPM sounds normal to me for loader work.

Thomas, thought about you when I read the article about this bear, "named" Ringo by the locals in Minnesota...he got his head caught in a plastic garbage collar while robbing bird feeders and garbage cans. Hope your remedies work.

My wife name the bear Boo Boo but I call it something else.
So far the wind chimes are working last night he lay staring at them didn't enter the shed,no come up with plan so he stops knocking over burn barrel every time he leaves.

another hot day today, HI in 110's. After mowing yesterday, taking it easier today.
Tomorrow, Saturday is supposed to be even hotter, then weather breaks next week and goes back in to 80's
with rain.

I'm going to pick some pears today before it gets too hot and put some on the counter, before the squirrels get them.

RNG, too bad you don't have a big multi-brand dealer like Messicks near you. Saw a new video of theirs last night, about why front axle seals on
SCUTS and CUTS break so often, because loader has more capacity than front axle. That's not good engineering for sure, and suggests manufacturers are
in a spec war, fueled by marketing. It's like putting C rated tires on a trailer that needs E tires. Won't end well...

Coffee is done brewing. 76° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 92° with Mostly cloudy skies and possibility of thunderstorms mid day. Never made it to forecast 90° yesterday. 88° was OK with me. AC is already cycling this morning. Not much planned for today other than stay in cool house.

Little excitement in our town yesterday. Someone's pet alligator got loose.
