73 this morning and headed to 85 today. 70% chance of rain maybe it won’t be all day. Dealing with remnants of Barry. It just drizzled and sprinkled all day yesterday. Kept dust down.

One load of rice hulls are in and level. That house is ready to setup and drop lines. Other 3 will be here in about an hour. Takes about 2-2.5 hours per barn to unload the semi and push the hulls in, windrow them out even and then spread with the litter box blade.

Got Kubota back from repair shop yesterday. They changed the front bearing and seal. $95 parts and shop supplies. $230 in labor. So cheaper than they quoted me. Very busy shop and also unorganized. I called Friday and asked about status of tractor. It’s here but haven’t started on it yet. Lost paperwork so didn’t know who it was or what to fix. But they overnighted the parts in on their cost, because service manager remembered telling me he’d get it fixed last week while I was out of town. Called Saturday 11:45 to say it’s done. They’re an hour away. Close at 12. Pickup yesterday and they couldn’t find the keys. I looked at key board and said two sets looked right. SM told me to see which ones worked. They had small and large Kubota and New Holland/Case in there. New and old. Tractors, skid steers, excavators, UTV’s and track loaders.

73 going to 93.

Thomas, sorry, it's your turn to have the bears. When they were here, they selected sunflower seeds over everything else. Hope they move on and you can concentrate on the deer and a smooth cigar. When I started moving my feeders inside each night, the word got out and a mouse founds its way to the sunflower seeds. It was introduced to a snap trap. I put it on the ground under the fence post that the juvenile red-tail sits on frequently...sure enough it flew over and jumped to the ground and ate it...recycling? So the bears indirectly led to a mouse giving it up to a hawk. Nature is beautiful.

I'm liking the idea of the blue dye. Wondering... how long it persists on the plant or ground? ...does it act as a surfactant? ...would food coloring be any good?

DAB, sounds like a very healthy diet. We had roasted eggplant, okra, and zucchini from our garden last night (and unhealthy manicotti).

Randy, it's so nice that you have Ellen and she helped you through your ordeal.

Buppies, sorry your swimming plans are off. Hope you get better soon. I drank a bottle of water before I even went our this morning to feed the birds...staying hydrated.

Had a dentist check up yesterday...glad everything went well...got compliments on my oral hygiene...strange, but I enjoy flossing :).

I have a small number of logs to split. I haven't fired up the splitter since April, so I think I'll go out before it gets too hot and give it a few pulls and see how she goes.

The "blue" lasts just a short time and will be gone with first rain WNG. The only areas I don't I've the dye is anywhere close to the white stone on house, carport, O/D kitchen, and fire pit.

No ... you still need to use a surfactant.

Food coloring .... doubtful.

Eric.
Thomas, can you teach a bear to keep away from the feed storage bin ? Those wheels are probably good insulators, so maybe you could position it on a sheet of metal that was connected to an electric fence energiser ground and clip the bin to the +ve. We don't have bears, so I have no idea how fast they learn. Or would they seek retribution after being zapped ?

……………………………………

It would take good zap get 320lbs bears attention and don't want to take chance of someone unware walking into energize rods, certainly don't want bear get past energize rods into shed and can't get out.
Bear and I going to get some learning from each other that's for sure. ;)

Thomas, congrats on setting the date, I gave 1 yr notice, so they could hire guy and maximize overlap time, then the replacement not hired until 9 months later :confused3: . Good luck with the bear, anyone help relocating troublesome animals? Bear bags?
…………………………….
Thanks.
I won't call Fish Game for I don't care how they handy so call nuisance wildlife, friend of mine long time retire bear hunter and he did it the old fashion way very interested studying find answer in which no harm comes to the bear...could be interesting.

You would be surprised at how well an electric cattle fencer will do.
You can change their behavior with one.
A half dozen poly posts and a couple of strands of electric fence wire, with a 50 mile fencer,
also wet the ground down good next to the fence and you could put a few aluminum foil conductive streamers on the fence as attention getters.

Good morning. It was 79°F this morning and a bit overcast and we expect 95°F this afternoon.

I'm needing to go into town and get the haircut I didn't get to last week. Then to Tractor supply or hardware store to find some 7/8-14 x 2" hex bolts / locknuts for a project.

I also need to do some pressure washing on East porch and the O/D kitchen.

We prefer the River Cruises, in Europe, with the 160 passenger boats (AMA Line) over the Mega cruise ships. Our last one, started and ended in Amsterdam with many stops in Holland and Belgium, a couple of years ago. They're very relaxing and you pretty much know everyone on your boat, including the crew, after an 8 day voyage.

Hope everyone has an excellent "Hump Day Eve" today.

Prayers to all.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

A pleasant sunny 51ºF morning low temperature; 76ºF and sunny presently; and I anticipate today’s high temperature to be in the low to mid 80º with increasing cloudiness and humidity later. I see a lot of A/C use the rest of the week due to heat and humidity. The Barred Owls were active last night making all kinds of calls. The HVAC technician serviced our mini-split this AM. I have no real plans other than more string trimming and brush whacking today.

“….. only way to stop him don't feed birds squirrels etc.”- Thomas That bear is an active forager. We stopped feeding the birds except for the hummers. Most years the bears leave the hummingbird feeders alone. Thankfully we have lots of native food resources available to keep the birds around…… and the bears:(. I have seen quite a few bird feeding stations in parks/museums surrounded by electric fences as a bear deterrent. Good luck.

I hope that everyone on the mend is still mending and those healthy and active stay that way.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Don't worry, Don. I'm sure glyphosate is probably next...:hissyfit:

Maybe Cali will ban ...... Roundup and not glyphosate?

We haven’t told Your Government ..... that Roundup is glyphosate yet. Our little secret. Shhhhh.

70°F and light rain this morning, going up to 83° today, and expecting rain for the better part of the day.

Good luck with the bear problem, Thomas. Like others, glad we don't have them around here.
