Good morning!!!!

76°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 92° today. Another surprise thunderstorm woke us early this morning. It was quite active.

Took a trip Friday morning to visit a customer in Mt. Vernon IL, and was back home by about 10:30. Shot an email off to my boss, then headed out to start mowing with the walk-behind. Got about half done before the heat and humidity told me I was done for the day. Saturday morning, I finally got the truck unstuck and got the zero-turn loaded on the trailer. Couldn't push it up the ramp by myself, Wife and nephew were gone, so tractor to the rescue. Got it done, but in the process popped one of the mower's front tires off the rim. Delivered it to the repair shop in Centralia, and the guy there suggested that those small tires aren't so easy to re-seat, and may have to tube it. I'm fine with that. It's just the front tire, and really only needs to roll smoothly. Besides, we already agreed that it will be replaced before next season. Finished the mowing yesterday, but not without a few breaks to cool down and rehydrate. 90° and 87% humidity sucks the energy right out of you when your old, fat, and out of shape. Be happy to get the riders running again.

Lots going on in this thread, as usual. Good to hear from Randy.

Arby says: "Arby's takes aim at the meatless phenomenon taking over the fast food industry by creating a meat-based carrot . . . "

Oh, OK. Where is "no meatless phenomenon" that is taking over the fast food industry? I sure haven't seen it in my little part of Texas.

Has anyone seen the "IMPOSSIBLE BURGER" in the fast food industry which I reviewed yesterday?

Actually, that Impossible Burger was first tested in the STL market at Burger King with their Whoppers, and has been around for a few months now. I haven't tried it. Not interested.

I've also seen recently that White Castle now has a "meatless" version of their burger, and heard a news report that one of the pizza chains (Little Caeser's, I believe) will offer a "meatless" version of their sausage pizzas.

I certainly wouldn't say that they're "taking over the industry," but they certainly are making a bigger splash than I think most people expected.

Good morning all,

Very nice day out today. Sunny high 50s and no wind. Got some cutting done after the funeral Saturday.

Good morning all,

Very nice day out today. Sunny high 50s and no wind. Got some cutting done after the funeral Saturday.

Wow. Just wow on the Pic. Hope you take it all in.

Not much happening here. Kind of sore from the demolitions and moving stuff around. Almost got it under control. Missing some tools though, too many projects. I cannot remember where a particular wrench went. I think one of the kids walked off with it, so looks like a trip to the hardware store is in order.

Feels spectacular out this AM. Nice breeze, think I will just sit and watch the day go by.

Enjoy the day all Be safe.

RNG we have a lot in common, yet a civilian CCW training session with local police is so way off the scale of unlikely behaviour in Britain that you'd think we were living on different planets.
I would fail that course big time. My *******s training, from the first time I got an air *****, was to never ever point a gun barrel at anyone (unless you intended to kill them). I've even had to decline when friends have gone paint ball shooting because I wouldn't want to take aim at them. Very different training, although one end result should be the same - neither of us is likely to shoot a good guy :)

The event description didn't include any mention of the force-on-force training, Eric. I've played in exactly one paint ball game in my life, and I didn't care for it. Besides being very physical, I didn't like being shot at, or being hit for that matter. And like you, the same rules have been drilled into me as a child. There comes a time, though, when events around you cause enough concern for your own safety that a new set of rules come into play, and what better way to learn them than from the same folks that enforce the law?

One of the scenarios started off with me outside a building I was told was my home, at which I'd arrived after receiving a phone call from my wife. On that call, she told me she'd barricaded herself into a room after someone had broken down the door, and that she thought the person was still in the house with her. Where I live, it often takes a deputy at least 30 minutes to arrive after being called; you can't stand around with your hands in your pockets under those circumstances. I didn't do very well. At the second door I had to clear, I held the ******* too far from my body and the bad guy attempted to snatch it out of my hands as it went through the door. I maintained control of it and directed it at his body, ending the fight. But it was a very effective teaching technique!

Surprisingly, I learned that the facility was funded completely with donations made at events like the one I attended, and a variety of others as well. That kind of attitude is very rare in California, but in this neck of the woods it is widely supported by the community.

82 this morning and headed to 91 today. HI 95 headed to 103.

Rolled about 90 bales yesterday and got 2 barns of chickens gone. Had enough time to till about half the garden. 2 more barns leave tonight. Still have about 5 acres left to bale. It did catch a light shower last night about dark, but shouldn’t be hurt, it was just a dust settler. That field was cut Saturday about lunch and was still too green to bale. The stuff cut Friday about 6pm was boarder line but we rolled it anyways. Mainly because of the radar, which fizzled before it got here. Storms were coming out of NE yesterday. Very rare for us. Last Thursday we got one out of the SE. that is also rare unless it’s a tropical storm.

While raking the last field yesterday, a neighbor in his garden flagged me down. You, have oil on your front wheel. Yep, blown wheel seal on Kubota. Now I’m going to have to see about that. And that’s the primary tractor I need this week. Oh. 6 months out of warranty. 3 years or 3,000 hours. I’m at 1330 hours in 3 1/2 years.

Nice view cat.

RNG, had to look at my CPL to see when it expires. Good until 6/2021. The local gun range offers similar events to check out your reflex in that 2 seconds. My guns are all locked up in a safe. By the time I got one out and ready to fire I would be well past my 2 seconds. :ashamed:

There are a variety of devices for securing *******s in a ready to fire state, Ron. My favorites use Simplex push button locks that don't need batteries and can be unlocked by feel in the dark very quickly. Longer than 2 seconds, but not much. There have been home invasion robberies in the area, usually associated with marijuana grows, and that scenario was one I suggested to the organizers of the event when they solicited feedback.

Illinois is much the same way, as I suspect are most states. Once you get away from the population centers and capitals (Chicago and Springfield here), the general attitude of the people regarding issues like this seems to swing nearly 180°.

The Water Monitor (Giant pet eating lizard) has been found and returned home. Now the big question is did she lay eggs on her adventure?

I think your fire safe group would be perfect for searching out dragon eggs, Don!

But I'm very surprised that the animal was returned to the same person that showed such carelessness in letting it escape in the first place.

Lynn, I know you are somewhat immune to this now, but gosh I'd sit there and be happy not going anywhere...

Farmer, doesn't seem like a lot of hours/age of tractor for a bearing seal to let loose.
do you spend a lot of time over 40mph? :D

lugged a ton of cukes in only to find out this morning that the food bank had a truck arrive with two huge palletized bins of cucumbers.
All number twos, they were all uniformly a little fat...about the only time you can fat shame something... So the food bank now has
cucumbers coming out their ears, and I for sure have cucumbers coming out my ears.

Picked some sweet peppers and some mild hot peppers, including some hatch peppers from seeds given to me by a friend.
I have no idea how hot hatch peppers are relatively, but I bet someone from NM would know...
Poblanos are coming in nicely after a slow start.
