Good morning!!!!

Sooner or later I expect to see (more) rabbit, bear, yak, moose, emu, etc. as standards in the frozen food sections in the local supermarkets.

Jay, that reminds me of the fact that only once have I seen rabbit in the grocery store. Now I grew up eating every cottontail, swamp rabbit, AND jackrabbit that we could find. In 1972, in a grocery store in Niles, IL, in the frozen food section, I found a 2 lb. cut up rabbit "imported from Poland". I could not imagine importing rabbit, but I bought that. My wife fried it up, I took one bite, and we threw it all in the garbage. I don't know if it had thawed and spoiled before I got it, or just what the problem was, but it was (1) the only time I've seen rabbit in the grocery store, and (2) the only rabbit I ever saw that I did eat and like. Of course in later years I raised New Zealand White rabbits and ate lots of them. And I still don't understand why I never see rabbit in the grocery store.

Shearing should have started this morning, unfortunately the "less than 10% chance"weather gods had other ideas, with a short shower coming down as the shearing equipment was about to be taken out of their trailer. Now just have to see if the fleeces dry enough to get some of them done later this afternoon.

BEF, really neat looking machine. I have never been on a ZTR, do you need sick bags until you get used to the tight turns, or did you take ballerina spinning lessons first ? :D

44° F and headed to 66. Wind E 7 mph. Mainly sunny.

The rain yesterday evening may have put the kibosh on my plan to turn the compost pile over today.

About 60 years ago when I was a young gaffer, Mom had a bear roast given to her. She was told to soak it overnight in salted water, rinse and repeat. I guess she had forgotten the rinse and repeat. After one nights' soaking she cooked it. I loved it, she hated it and Dad liked it too. Dad did not like his bodies' response to the gamey bear meat. I think he spent most of the evening parked on the throne. I had cold bear sandwiches for lunch and open faced bear sandwiches for supper for two days. Dad growled at me something that is not fit for this forum when I suggested bear sandwiches. I loved it. No adverse effects for me.

The dispatcher is starting to hound me about going back to work. My new laptop is all ready to go with win 10 on it. I am the last 'holdout' for the transition to win 10. If I had my way I would still be on win 95.

Have a good day all

Bird, you would have survived well in the Old West. Probably a good shot too, important if your dinner
is still moving faster than you are.

Give a rabbit to a French chef and you will get something amazing back.
Hand rotated over a big fire probably works too...;)

The topic of eating one's "pets" was a controversial one in the movie Babe. One of those movies you can watch
over and over, particularly with little kids. And Happy Feet.
Many a house has rocked to the thump of those Happy Feet.

Now off to see if any of the rabbits have gotten back into garden. Think I'm going to have to start taking the BB gun with me.
Two or three pumps and a shot to the rear usually works. Negative conditioning. Last year I took bulk bags of carrots down to near the barn and let the rabbits
eat something far away from the garden. That helped.

What would also work is stringing an entire additional low layer of finer mesh plastic along the bottom of the existing one. That's probably the next step.
I like the rabbits but just not in the garden please.
Bird, come take these rabbits away and eat like a king for a week.

Showed youngest how to use the ztr, then i mowed a little. Wow, so much faster. Will take some getting used to, but i mowed pretty quick.

Nice ride. You'll find more grass to cut as your time involved is "less" than what you were accustomed to. SO here complains about me being in the "fields" with the ZTR. LOL. My response is I want the grass cut even with the house layout as you come up the driveway.

Yep. I've enlarged the area I mow since getting the ZTR last year.

Don't think it's a fox since I've gotten many fox pix at the same spot and they are noticeably smaller. I've gotten coyotes at this spot, too, and they are usually about this size, but with the normal lighter coloring and hair thickness.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 59° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 78° with afternoon showers. Got lawn cut yesterday. Made it to Grand Rapids and back with new dog/puppy. I think it looks fierce to get rid of a bear. But it is only 3.4 lbs at 12 weeks. Wife's dog. But it already knows who feeds it.

Wngsprd, looks like a fox.

Thomas, I think you need to finish the month out before year is half over. :D

My grand parents raised rabbits. They took abound 40 to market every week. That was in the 50's.

Good Morning All.

Ron, I showed Whipper the pic of the new puppy and she said yum, yum, taste like rabbit.

Mid 70s to mid 90s garden day to harvest some snakes.

Randy hope you are improving.
