All this talk of Marmots and recipes reminds me of something I haven't heard of for many years, and that is Nutria. Most folks in the Dallas area have never seen one, but late at night I used to occasionally see some of then around Bachman Lake and White Rock Lake. And long ago, I had an uncle whose job transferred him from Oklahoma to Louisiana for a couple of years and I remember him sending a newspaper article that included a recipe for cooking Nutria. In those days the Nutria were considered a serious nuisance in Louisiana and parts of Texas, so some hoped that eating them would cut down on the population, but I don't think that recipe ever caught on.

However, you can certainly find recipes on the Internet today.

48°F and cloudy this morning, going all the way up to 51° today. Rain started about 08:30, and looks like it will continue until 5pm-ish. And to think the ground was just starting to firm up a bit ...

No marmot kidneys, raw or otherwise, on the menu here. When we get one, we dump the carcass outside the back pasture gate for the scavengers.

Randy, when we were looking for a new tractor, I spent a considerable amount of time looking at used. In the end, The Wife and I both agreed that for what everyone was asking for used tractors, we could buy new for just a little more, and not have to worry about inheriting someone else's abuse or neglect. It is amazing how some people over-value their old stuff.

kerplunk, as I crash down into my chair. 4 straight hours of garden work, and that's all for me today.
Got the bird netting on the blueberries and blackberry patch, and then set up the drip irrigation system and got that working.
Then I headed out to pull some of the big weeds in the potato field, and out popped these eager little guys along with the big weeds.
They will be part of dinner tonight for sure.
Giving my first Fordhook zucchini another day before it goes in the air fryer.

time for energy conservation. Helper can weed as long as he wants, he'll find me when he wants to get paid.
Very good guy, just wish I could understand him better. He said the Rosetta Stone software I gave him for xmas was "very hard".

I sold my Case IH last summer and I’ve been getting by with my garden tractor, but I do miss the bigger bucket. I am looking at the deals available, one of those 0% for 5 year deals might make sense.

Back to the pipe after breakfast. The fact that I’m 2/3 the distance is just too encouraging to abandon - concept works.
Cutting the concrete is still solution of last resort.

That was something of a memory jog. Unfortunately those components are available at our local HD stores, but I remembered that my Dad being an electrician, used rigid steel conduit and I think those connectors might be more appropriate than the plumbing types. Just might have to check them out next trip. Thanks

My problem is hitting straight on with that 20lb sledge, too many blows are off center a bit. Still makes me wonder if using the backhoe might be appropriate.

Kyle, nice boat. What does it need? Engine?

The boat needs a motor (which he already has), new seats behind the console, and a bit of TLS. It has the hydraulic steering and motor lift jack plate still in place. This is my buddy who has no shortage of projects.....So, hopefully we might fish next spring.

Drew, just remember siesta, and cerveza, those will get you what you need. Veggies look good. I spent about an hour weeding around the green beans. A few of my tomatoes are wilting really bad, probably from too much rain. I will probably have to pull them. Reminiscent of Hurricane Harvey

So some of you were talking about active noise cancelling headphones a while back, can anyone recommend a brand/model? We prefer something low cost, because if my autistic daughter gets mad, she might throw them down hard and break them.

Years ago as Hawaii started having a problem with the explosion of coqui frog population someone suggested that once a certain local group developed the proper recipe the coqui population would be in danger. Didn’t happen.
