Drinking first cup of coffee. 50° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 55° with cloudy skies. Yesterdays trip to east side went well except for traffic. Good dinner. Need get started planting last of the shrubs. Not sure how far I will get. Going to a bird watching seminar at local library in afternoon.

Looking, Looks like you are going to have too keep Point Pelee and island. I would make the deal if you would throw in Leamington and Erieau. But you have to deal with Buckeye. :D

Jay, same question as Don.

Drew, your harvest sure looks good.

Phil, nice paint job.

LS, waiting on new tractor pictures.

David, hope LP line project is getting done.

Good Morning All.

I had an actual garden tractor that used key ways to retain the rear wheels, and it had 1.25 “ axles. Just the keys and a big nut and washer.

Now I know it wouldn't be unusual for you folks up north, but for us down here in the south 49 degrees this morning is a bit unusual, going for a high today of 61. I love it! More rain in the forecast the next day or two, and we really do NOT need that.

Good morning. 54˚F heading to 61˚F a drop of 20˚ since yesterday. We continue to be in a flash flood warning with is extended till tomorrow evening. The town river is at flood stage. I may have to take a trip to town to see what flood stage looks like.

Pill bugs have invaded my garden and all lower leaves are lunch for them. Since the ground is saturated the raised beds are their beds. When I was in the gardens yesterday the Organic BUG LADY walked by and suggested Spinosad.

"It is a soil dwelling bacterium that was collected from an abandoned rum distillery on a Caribbean island in 1982. This unique bacterium was defined as a new species when it was discovered and it has never been found in nature anywhere else in the world. Since being discovered, Spinosad has become a leading pesticide used by agriculture world wide in the production of organic produce." - Lowes Captian Jack's dead bug brew.

Has anyone used it?

65 heading to 80 today, big rains moving in tomorrow afternoon. Sunday through Wednesday look to be well below normal with wind after the rain moves out. Not uncommon here in the spring.

Mom was a bit more alert yesterday but just a blip on the screen I’m sure.

Got the mowing done and garbage run made after lunch with my daughter.

Today appears to be a recharge day, I’m thinking time on deck with doggie.

You all have a good one and Lord love you every one.

68 going to 83 and rain forecasted next few days.

Phil, nice job on flagpole. I need to put a new one up.

Rick, hope you don't get that much rain.

Don, never heard of spinosad. Sounds promising. Any chance of unintended consequences?

Spent the day with the in-laws yesterday. They are staying here for a couple of days while we get some of their things unpacked and organized at their new apartment. Today I will mount my FIL's trophy whitetail mount over the fireplace, and hang some pictures. Yesterday I had to take the tank off the toilet and replace the bolts and gaskets - he fell backwards while sitting down and pushed the tank backwards too hard. Our house is not prepped for senior adult safety with rails, etc.

Then he said he would love to watch Dr. Zhivago, so I pulled it up on the TV from A. Prime and we watched a 3hr 20 minute wonderful 1965 movie that I had never seen. A story that all young people should watch to see the horrors.

Still looking but all I found so far was it should not be used around a pond or put on flowers/blooms that bees frequent. It does not harm most beneficial insects.

Yes, for years and do now. Neem Oil and Spinosad are my go to organic bug killers.
I've now sprayed all my collards and potatoes with them and use Spinosad almost weekly on the cabbages.
Captain Jack has been around for awhile, so yes use it.
Neem oil is more than a bug killer, I make a mix of both of them, the oil adding some needed "stick". It all washes off after several rains any way so
you have to reapply pretty regularly. So far so good, but clearly not as strong/effective as the
Ortho/Bayer/Monsanto products out there.

good morning all. Nice day today, off to weedeat, mow and weed.
Mother's Day weekend looks stormy and iffy for outdoors activities.
Wingsprd, good luck with your inlaws.
Toppop, give your dog an extra tummy scratch for me. A dog's life...

Good Morning!!!! 66F @ 4:30AM. Abundant sunshine. High 92F. Winds NNE at 10 to 15 mph.

Nice paint job, Phil. Spray or brush?

Tilt meters on order and shipped. Thanks for the discount tip, Ron!

Hope you folks in Texas dry out soon!

Spent the morning mowing in the trees east of the house. Another steep section that slopes in two directions. Mowed up hill, then backed down for the next pass. It eventually got to the point that the tractor tires just spun because of the steep slope and it was time to quit. No desire to try to mow downhill; it would be like Sonny Bono's last ski run.

I have given some thought to cutting a fire line with the box blade though. One north-south along the main property line, another east-west at the bottom of the property before it gets too steep to traverse. Then another short section north of the house to complete the loop. Had such a line been in place before last year's fire, it probably would have stopped the spread into my property.

Not done mowing just yet, but will probably give it a rest today due to low humidity and brisk winds. I could use a break from all the twisting and bumping anyway.

Purchased a used transmission for the old BMW motorcycles and it arrived yesterday, so I might pop the cover off and see how bad it is inside. The seller said that the input shaft would turn a few revolutions and then stop, so it could be anything from a disintegrating bearing cage to broken gears.

Screened a Nova episode last night called Mega Fire that attempted to delve into the science behind last year's Camp Fire. Not much new was revealed, just the mismanagement that allowed exceptional levels of fuel to build up on the forest floor, the high prevailing winds that day, and the high tension lead that failed on the PG&E transmission tower that set the whole thing off. Meanwhile, investigations into the Code Red emergency notification system are coming out that admit most people in Paradise failed to receive warnings because the system was over loaded. I did get a warning, but it was hours late and I'd already evacuated based in information from CalFire and the local sheriff's department they had posted on Facebook and Twitter. Odd that the Nova episode made no mention at all of that. Here's a link to the video:
