Eric, I always thought Dyson was hype until I bought one a few months ago. Definitely worth its high price to me.

Same here, WNG. Except when trying to vacuum rubber backed throw rugs. The thing sucks so hard it pulls the rugs right up off the floor and refuses to let go unless I stand on one corner and wrestle it free.

Good Morning!!!! 56F @ 5:15AM. Sunny. High 79F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

As I recall, the Spruce Goose is at an air museum fairly close to the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Visited both on a motorcycle trip more than a few years ago, and enjoyed them.

Cloudy and cool yesterday, with dark clouds and sprinkles, just as I was about to start the awning installation on the van. It was only a brief shower, part of a larger cell that passed to the east. Had to cut, shorten, and weld all the awning brackets, so that turned into an all day affair. Used the forks on the tractor to lift the 12' awning into place, suspending it from a pair of ratchet straps. That was some very slow and careful tractoring.

This morning it's off to an outfit that said they do on-vehicle spin balancing, hopefully arriving before they open. Then a haircut, and some grocery shopping. Hope to be home by early afternoon to pack for tomorrows trip down to Holister for Syncrofest, a gathering of folks with vans like mine. Misery loves company I guess. I have some parts to sell/trade, and lots of questions for those more in the know.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

That is a handsome van. Real nice job. Enjoy!

Saw a news report last night talking about costs of college and student debt. Tuition at some of the big name colleges is as much as $75,000 per year...$300,000 for a BS....that is just BS. My daughter has student loan debt over $100K for her 2 Master's degrees. No wonder kids can't get ahead!

I can't imagine what it must be like to graduate with that kind of debt hanging over their young heads, Ted. Tuition was $220/quarter when I attended Ohio State in the '70s, which was picked up by my dad. The rest was up to me, so I worked part time jobs during the school year and full time in the summer to get by, then paid him back once I started working. I think the total was somewhere around $5K, a quarter year's salary back then. Today's tuition is especially ridiculous when you follow the money: Multi-million dollar athletic facilities, multi-hundred thousand dollar administrative salaries, and curricula that teach useless things that leave graduates broke without job prospects. :duh:

RNG, I forgot to answer your question yesterday about clover seed. I was actually on the way to Ashland Feed yesterday when you posted. That's where I buy almost all my seed since it's local, and a friendly local business.

Their crimson clover price by the pound was $1.20. I don't usually plant clover this time of year, but picked up 10 lbs to keep on hand, and some sunflower, soybean, cowpea and buckwheat and sorghum seed I'll plant over the next two or three weeks. I usually let the crimson clover go to seed, and then bush hog it, often coming back and planting sunflower or buckwheat on it.

The low was 22° this morning with a couple inches of snow. Today is going to be partly cloudy and in the mid 40's. It's supposed to be nice though the weekend.

RNG... I like the way the van looks.

I don't have any plans for today.

Hope everyone has a great hump day.
CWB.

Don't know where on the Oregon coast you're going, but we spent a very pleasant week in an RV park in Cannon Beach in the early Fall of 1992. We were in sight of the ocean, and perhaps the most unusual thing about that park was the dozens of different colored domestic rabbits running loose all over the park. Of course we had come down from the north so while we were staying in Cannon Beach, we drove down the coast sight-seeing. One of the most interesting places we visited (to me, at least) was the Tillamook Creamery, cheese factory.

I was just a bit off with the date above. I still have some of the old logs I kept during our travels and just now found this:

"8/11/91

Beautiful sunny day. I flushed holding tanks, Margaret did laundry, then we went to visit Camp 18, a logging museum on US 26, stopped for gas and groceries in Seaside. Then we sat out under the awning, cool enough for Margaret to get a sweater, and had a bottle of Gewurztraminer wine from the Stewart Vineyards of Granger, WA (best wine I ever drank), Smoked Cheddar and Pepper Jack cheeses from the Tillamook County (Oregon) Cheese factory, a can of Alaskan silver salmon (from what we canned last year that we caught at Seward), Walla Walla Sweet onion from Walla Walla, WA and crackers. Of course, Margaret had tortilla chips instead of crackers along with Frito Lay Salsa. It doesn't get much better than that. I also fed one of the black park rabbits cracker bits by hand while I was eating."

I remember Margaret asking what I wanted for supper and I told her there was no need to cook, and the above was as good a supper as I ever had.

66, supposed to reach 81 later, got to about 85 yesterday.

I bought a Dyson about 15 years ago and it was all they said it was, but when it suddenly died my late wife went to Walmart and bought a top of the line Sharpe because we needed a replacement quickly. It has turned out to be the equal of the Dyson in every way over the last five years, it also weighs noticeably less and cost half as much.

Have a good day guys, God bless.

60° and rain this morning, going up to 76° today. The rain has stopped for now, but more is expected later this evening.

Had some heavy storms pass through the area yesterday. Lots of rain and noise, and apparently quite a few trees uprooted. Some funnel clouds reported just a few miles north of us, but no damage at our place.

That BK Impossible Whopper was test marketed here in the St. Louis area. I never tried one. Not interested. I heard mixed reviews from those who did, ranging from "delicious" to "that's definitely not a hamburger." As fast food burgers go, I've always liked the Whopper best. If I want to eat plants, I'll go to a Veggie King restaurant. Nothing against veggie burgers, I just don't like them. Leaves more for those who do.

RNG, your assessment of colleges seems dead-on for what's wrong with higher education, at least here in the US.
The Vanagon is looking good.

Good morning all,

32 this morning and a blue sky with no wind. I would bet all the snow will melt today. Looking forward to getting my yard started. Just need the mud to dry up again.:)

No real plans today.

Prayers for all and I hope all have a great day.

It was 75°F here this morning and overcast. Forecast says 84°F this afternoon with rain starting this evening. We are at a point of needing rain even after a wet fall and winter. We had a shower last evening but, it lasted for only about 15 minutes.

Didn't get much done, at the ranch yesterday as I ran errands in West Houston. Picked up wife's Toyota Highlander, from her office, at 6:15 a.m., to take it to the Dealer for a quick oil change. When I walked into her parking garage my remote FOB, for her car wouldn't work? Had to use the "mechanical key" to unlock doors and touch the FOB to the start button to start it. Checked in at Dealer, when they opened at 7 a.m. and asked them to check the Key FOB. The oil change was done by 7:30 a.m. but the "technicians" who could check out the remote, didn't start until 8 a.m. I sat and waited until 9:45 and the service writer finally came and told me the remote was bad and needed to be replace. So after spending 3 1/2 hours and $355 at the Dealer, I departed. I've probably driven her Highlander, used my remote, less than a dozen times???

By the time I got the rest of my errands done, it was late afternoon before I got back to the ranch.

New kitchen toy! I looked at the Power Smokeless Grill and decided it was worth a try.

https://www.amazon.com/Power-Smokeless-Grill-Interchangeable-Technology/dp/B07C9CFNKG

Best price I found was at Sam's Club and $99.98, but that package did not include the griddle plate. Amazon offered it for $119.00 including the griddle plate. While trying to decide if the griddle plate was really worth $20 we got an email from QVC.com offering it for $99.98 including the griddle plate and free shipping, good for two days only. So ..... I hit the "buy" button. It arrived about ten days ago, packed very well, with clear instructions on set up. I first assembled it, then put the appropriate parts thru a quick cycle in the dishwasher. Monday evening I tried it out on a NY strip steak, from the freezer.

Results were great. Good grill marks and "medium rare" after about 5-6 minutes per side, @ 400°. I put the grill on the gas cooktop, under the vent hood just in case the "smokeless" part didn't work. I was pleased to find that the internal fan worked well and no smoke resulted in a need to turn on the vent hood.

Added some Air Fryer french fries and a side of corn (not shown) for a good quick dinner.

Cleanup was fast and easy ..... rinsed parts in hot water and put them thru a cycle in the dishwasher.

This "kitchen toy" gets ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐️ from me.

Hope everyone has an excellent "hump day".

Prayers to all.
