Sorry for the picture quality. I was hiding behind our Ficus

good morning all.
42 going to low 50s with rain coming in later this morning and continuing into tomorrow. My cabbages have yellow leaves from all the
water, this isn't going to help.

I put down just under 50 pounds of granulated nitrogen fertilizer yesterday on the collards, and was very happy I had put bar ag tires
on the back of the Gravely. Would have gotten stuck for sure with anything else. Was careful about brushing off any fertilizer that got on
plant leaves. Annoyed to see about 5 percent of the crop chomped by deer, plus birds had pulled out some seedlings, and just left them on the ground. I replanted a bunch, strange the way they pull them out. Wonder if they are looking for an edible seed, like they do with corn. Mother Nature taking its percentage...

Deviated septum, what a surprise, all it means is one nostril is smaller than the other, usually from a broken nose or something pushing the cartilage in. I've never been punched out, thankfully...., so doc said I was probably born that way. Not bad enough to worry about.

Helper and I got a lot done yesterday, ready for a rest today. No room in the greenhouse for any more plants, now full with tomato seedling trays.
Last frost date here is tax day, April 15, but usually it's earlier than that. They say plant the tomatoes 4-8 weeks ahead inside, so it was time.
After the big freeze later this week, going to plant about five trays of flowers, that will clear some space in the greenhouse and then I start on the peppers. While most of the inner garden is covered in plastic, one area is open and I'm going to plant the center area with all kinds of flowers, mostly pollinators, zinnias and marigolds.

CBD oil in a creme seems to work well on my sore wrists and hands. A little better than the AMA approved lidocaine salve prescribed for me, seems to last longer.

   / Good morning!!!! #90,083
Morning all. Second coffee is finished. Looks like 26 going to 37/38 today. We had a couple of inches of snow yesterday but it melted by nightfall. Looks like a partly cloudy day today with possible snow tomorrow. Hope everyone is safe and healthy. Not planning on doing much today.
I gave up smoking and alcohol I am not giving up my coffee!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #90,084
Good morning all. I had been expecting 50-60 mph winds and being lashed with horizontal rain, yet while that has been happening to the north, west and south, we are enjoying a relative calm in the middle of it all with rain coming straight down. Not that it matters much, I'm inside on house cleaning duties today. I'm just about keeping Julie happy in her role as responsible grown up and supervisor, though the Iseki must be beginning to feel a little neglected.

RNG, what a gem of a water feature. Maybe not enough flow for hydroelectric power, but a lovely spot to go and unwind next time thoughts of the vanagon mechanic come into your head :)

Rich, it sounds like you have some great new neighbors for them to be so concerned about the fallen trees. Ash too, what a nice gift for anyone who appreciates good firewood.

   / Good morning!!!! #90,085
12°F and maybe reach a high of 19. Wind NW 11 mph. Flurries today and all week.
We are still looking at below zero temps overnight for a while yet.

I'll go out and plow the 4" we got yesterday.

I got the wedges for the downed tree yesterday, the saw should be here by the end of this week.
I still have 4 screw clevises to acquire.

I gave up coffee and alcohol, but I will not give up my cigarettes. I know, they will kill me, sooner or later. I am going to die anyway.

Have a good day all

Poured first cup of coffee. 10° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 28° with chance of snow in PM. Had a good time with son and grandson at outdoor show. I guess I have been away from boating too long. 10 hp outboard selling for $3-4K. Still interesting show. Out to the shop to complete projects today. Then some NASCAR in afternoon.

RNG, great picture.

Rich, Good neighbors. A tree fell on neighbor's property fell on my fence a few years ago. They got it cleaned up before I could get to it. I visited with them to explain that things like that happen in the country. Next time it happens call me. We can clean it up together.

Drew, good news on the CBD. Garden is looking good.

gaproperty, sorry about the Owl. I had one roast outside bedroom window last night. It was hooting most of the night keeping me awake.

Lynn, people who cannot pick up for themselves I do not understand. I guess it falls in line with other common day things that seem to not apply to some people. There is a little bit of Karma with that at times.

David, your additions are looking good. Every time I see a drone picture I think of this picture. :D

Kyle, best wishes for your daughter.

Prayers for all.

Good Morning All.

Thanks Kyle.
I値l decline on the coffee adventure, waaaay too much work.
Besides the growing of the trees and all that entails, each berry has to be picked individually (they ripen individually as opposed to clusters) once picked there are multiple processing steps to get to dried bean, parchment stage for further processing. Pretty good overview here: Coffee production - Wikipedia

The picking is very labor intensive and is done on a continuous basis as ripening takes place over a period of time. Getting, steady, reliable pickers is a major challenge. We do have friends that just grow their own, others that sold out and moved, others still new and excited. Me, I知 just not interested in that much work.

David, the trick is that once you have the trees, Kyle and I will come stay with you to pick and process the beans and then I'll roast them and we will all be rich...well, maybe not rich but at least well caffeinated.

42 going to 41? and rain. Looks like sunshine after tonight's rain/snow.

Happy Birthday Texas!

RNG, I had the same thought as Eric...that cascade is a great place for a bench or chair to sit and ponder, or relax after one of those stressful days.

Ortimber, sorry your power is still out...that diesel gen sounds awesome.

We took or son and his GF to a really nice winery yesterday...they had built a LEED Platinum certified tasting building since we were last there, when they used an old farmhouse that had a slight lean. It was very nice, but they had a big noisy crowd. The prices on the bottles of wine had gone up, too, I guess to pay for the new digs. As usual, I was the DD.

25F already clear sky mid 30's for high.
Storm arrive late tonight were on the border line 1-3 or 3-6 inches.

Plans for today :confused3: take it as it comes.

Enjoy the day all.

47°F this morning and a bit foggy. Forecast says 51°F for this afternoon. Winds are supposed to pick up to 20-25 mph later today.

Temps will drop overnight, to low 30's by tomorrow morning. Forecast is three mornings at or below freezing then back to high 70's on the weekend.

Got my mud flaps installed on our new F-350 yesterday so, should make a difference on driving thru mud.

Plan for today is some shop cleanup and maybe watch the NASCAR Las Vegas race later.

I've cut coffee back to two cups in the morning quite a while ago, some days only one cup. I quit drinking sodas over two years ago.

Hope everyone has an excellent Sunday.

Prayers to all.

   / Good morning!!!! #90,093
35F now is probably the high for today- rain and snow expected this afternoon and tonight. Guess is for about 5” accumulation.

I cut down to 2 cups of coffee per day upon retirement- used to drink a lot more when working.

I love yesterday’s “grotto” photo!

Enjoy your Sunday.

Frank

Good morning. 30 now and likely to stay about the same all day. We are on the northern edge of the weather advisory. Nothing happening yet.

I know I drink too much coffee......a habit I acquired later in life. But I drink no soda....so there is that. And the coffee is always black.

I was pretty pleased with the new neighbors offer. They arrived concerned, left happy. I was happy too, free wood and help harvesting it.

See what I can get into today.

Have a good and safe day.

   / Good morning!!!! #90,095
Good morning all,

Starting off cold this morning, sitting right at 0 with clear skies. Got a good hot fire burning so nice and warm in the house.

Rick, thanks for your service and your brothers.

Good morning to all! Low only down to 33, 36 at daybreak, high of 48. Last night heard some sleet or big raindrops hitting the metal porch roof. Didn't last long, less than a minute. No measurable precip in the gauge. Maybe a sprinkle

Drew, nice progress on the garden, it's nice that the weather is somewhat cooperating so you can get outside. Glad to hear the CBD is helping.

I go to the ortho doc tomorrow, will be interesting to hear what he has to say about the knee not healing. The PT didn't help, actually making it worse, acupuncture didn't work, also making it worse, medication...nope, no help. I'll see what the next step (no pun intended) will be hopefully tomorrow.

Today is a 'take it easy day', just putter about.

Everyone have a quiet Sunday, prayers sent.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!!

27ºF start to the morning; presently 32ºF with mixed sun/clouds and temps are expected to rise into the mid30ºF's later.

Checked in with early morning weather news and . A whole new weather world later today. A significant decrease in predicted snowfall amounts. The storm is speeding up, weakening, and tracking more southeast. In reality I am happy to be wrong. I do not need nor want any more snow until I can operate the tractor.

Kyle- I can understand the reasoning behind increasing classroom exposure, but if known triggers are contained w/i the classroom environment it's a set up for your daughter. Are they working at desensitizing your daughter to her triggers with role playing, visualized training, coping strategies? Is her homeroom teacher on board with the plan and her classmates being educated? I believe that you and your family have valid reasons for your concerns. The end goal is your daughter being able to be successful in a classroom environment. It will take time courage, and luck. I am asking a lot of ?'s. My + thoughts, wishes and prayers for your daughter, you, and your family.

Rich- Thanks for sharing your good news about decent new neighbors and a good day ending with a dinner out with the Wife.

Bruce- Thanks. Mr. Knee has been complaining. 2 more weeks at 0º - 5º ROM until my next orthopedist appointment.

Ray- Thank you for sharing and doing the right thing for Hooter.

Drew- I am happy to read that the CBD works. Thanks for the pictures.

Ted- Good luck tomorrow.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

   / Good morning!!!! #90,098
We had a relatively mild (warm) February, but maybe that's about to change. 34 degrees going for a high of 38 today, BUT supposed to get down to 20 tonight and stay below freezing for a couple of days. We've had plenty of cloudy, damp, misty, dismal days lately. The NWS shows we got about .01" of precipitation around 10 p.m. last night, but my gauge had about .08" in it.

   / Good morning!!!! #90,099
46 now, predicted high is 43, so I guess that was wrong. Rain moving in for most of the afternoon and evening.
HAPPY NATIONAL ANTHEM DAY! God bless us all and this great country of ours.

   / Good morning!!!! #90,100
Good Morning!!!! 48F @ 6:30AM. Cloudy with periods of rain. High 51F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 80%. Rainfall near a half an inch.

Picked up another half inch of rain yesterday morning, and since midnight, another tenth or so has fallen. Looks like showers on and off for the rest of the day, then more steady rain tonight. It's raining right now, pitter pattering on the steel porch cover and gurgling through the downspouts. Glad I don't have any pressing work outside to do, but it would be nice to do a little wood cutting every day so as to avoid overdosing trying to catch up, as so many of us are inclined to do.

Hope you find relief for your knee soon, Ted. There's a doctor out there somewhere that has it to give, you just have to find them.

You're very lucky to have neighbors like that, Rich!

Think I'll try and locate a source for used plastic shipping pallets nearby today. Many of the wooden ones I used have broken or rotted, and the screws holding the 2x4 lumber uprights have popped from the load imposed by the stacked firewood splits. I think the plastic pallets will be sturdier, and provide a better base to screw steel uprights to, that should be strong enough to support the weight of another pallet stacked on top. I don't want to lose anymore wood to wildfire, especially not after it's been split and stacked, so I'm also planning one or more steel sheds in which to store it. If I can keep the floor area down to 120 sq. ft. each, I won't need to pull a permit. If I make it 7.5' x 16', I should be able to get 16 of the 42" x 48" pallets inside. If I can find 36" x 48" pallets, that jumps to 20 pallets, and might cover the whole harvest. Hard to say how much wood is down out there because every time I go poking around I find more.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend...
