Now, I'm reading on weatherunderground we may get a couple, three inches of snow...my stepdaughter says 6-12 inches (don't know where she got that). I hope it's the lower forecast because we sure don't need upwards to another foot of snow!
.............................
I like your forecast a lot!!! :) also no more 12"+ storms.

53°F this morning and overcast. Forecast is 61° F and 20% rain chances all day with likelihood going up overnight. In fact .... it's misting rain right now. I'll try to remember this in July and August when we'll be praying for rain.

Short term forecast indicates we'll be at or just below freezing this Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings. Glad I waited on tomatoes, etc.

I need to give the small tractor a good bath after working in all the mud, at neighbors, on Thursday. Then ..... pick up our 84" finish mower with straps / FEL, and replace or sharpen the three blades.

Everyone have a great weekend!

Prayers to all.

Fires have always broken out occasionally on peat moors, but seem to be making the news more often. I am thankful the one that has been burning this week is not near us.

In the past sections of heather were periodically burnt in rotation and sheep grazing helped to keep down the rest of the scrub. Both these activities have been cut back after attack by everything-should-be-left-wild "conservationists". Lots of flammable material then builds up on the surface and sooner or later it goes up in flames, burning down into the peat below. What a surprise ...

I agree...seems like anything weather related makes the news as a headline these days...the same kind of storms we've always had become big super storm news events to hook viewers/readers. Some say the same kind of "leave nature alone/don't control-burn the forest" may have contributed to some of the California wildfires. I've definitely seen this effect in Shenandoah National Park. Danged if you do...danged if you don't.

The mountains in California (and Washington I think) have had amazing amounts of snow.

They just measured the snowpack yesterday, and it went from 71% of normal on December 31, 2018 to 154% of normal. Thanks to David for leaving the door open on the Pineapple Express.

If you change your mind on the decaf, Drew, Peets brand is available on most grocery stores out here, and there's a Pete's coffee shop downtown that sells all the different varieties. I notice that they also sell direct, and there are a half dozen or so different decaf beans on the list.

35 and rained finally stopped. Hovered in the 30s all day yesterday, but not a sleet pellet or snowflake. Maybe we'll get some tomorrow night :). But 53 today.

Rick, real nice setup you have for fence pulling. 300 yards is a lot of posts. Nice neighbor you are. Ground is so soggy here I wouldn't think of taking my tractor out.

Eric, hope Julie is on the mend.

and Roy, glad Suzette is.

BEF, definitely SSS, especially the last S if you get the PA rodent.

Don't you guys quit the coffee now...I'm getting serious about upgrading my roaster to a larger capacity model...significant bucks for me...I'll need some orders to pay for it :) ...although I'm using the Fed Tax refund I just got to get started on it...the whole $1.00.
Son, GF and their dogs came in last night late from NC, driving through heavy rain the whole way...son had that bleary-eyed look you get from that kind of driving.

Before I started roasting, I used to sometimes order Peet's. Good stuff.

That's good news, Eric. The western US is now harvesting the fruits of environmental neglect, and now even major cities are not safe from the ravages of wildfire.

Good morning. 24 right now, supposed to get to 42 or so today. Bright sunshine right now. Snow tomorrow.....depending on where the guess comes from.....anywhere from 1 - 5 in. Mon. - We壇. is gonna be cold. But looks like the forecast has changed a bit. Not as cold as originally predicted.

Service school went well. Glad it is over though. I had good energy all week until Thursday afternoon. We were doing a plant tour, as we finished, it was like a switch got flipped....I was exhausted.

May start cutting up some of the branches/trees thatcame down in the windstorm last weekend. I have one of those hard starting Stihl MS290痴. Good cutting saw.....but that first start of the day can be interesting.

Everyone have a good day

Good morning from Oregon. Still no electricity here, been out since Sunday. Weather is good, 29 and sunny. Most of the snow is gone, hopefully utility crews can access more locations and get more folks back online.

This week has been bearable, but I think we are all ready to get back to normal.

Only thing I am doing different is adding a 12-15KW, 1800RPM diesel generator. With that in place we could be absolutely fine for weeks.

Good Morning!!!! 48F @ 5:45AM. Rain likely, heavy at times in the morning. High around 50F. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall may reach one inch.

Another rainy weekend, maybe a break Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning, then more rain through Thursday. March came in like a lamb yesterday, but it'll be trying to make up for it the rest of the week.

The surveyors finished their work yesterday, and I could tell by the look on their faces that they'd been down in the canyon bottom to the north point of the boundary. I'd never been there before, but took a walk there yesterday morning myself, just to see what was down there. It turns out the seasonal stream that forms the waterfall across the draw cuts across my property for maybe fifteen feet. It's not much of a run, small enough to easily step across on moss covered rocks, but it's beautifully decorated with ferns and oaks, and little waterfalls provide a calming background music. And it's a good thing they do, as the walk into the place is a crawl at times as the brush is still fairly thick, and all the rain we've had as made the ground very slick. I only fell onto my butt once, but there were many times when my steps were sliding down as much as they were going sideways across the slope. I'd started that little hike at the western boundary corner, following the surveyor's stakes to the southern point. They hadn't planted enough of them, as I frequently lost sight between one to the other, so when I caught up with them I asked them to put in more. But now I can say I've been to all three corners on the lot, and if I made that walk every day, I'd be a lot stronger, but maybe a lot more bruised as well.

Took the skylight off the van one more time to check the alignment of the plastic lens, which turned out to be pretty OK. Tweaked the hinges to get it to lay a little flatter and lower, hopefully compressing the gasket a bit more, then put it all back together. This time, though, I made sure that the lens was centered on the gasket before tightening the hinge screws, so maybe that made a difference. It's raining outside now, so I'll get to see if my handywork was effective while the oatmeal cooks for breakfast.

Finished up the day buy bucking two more loads of firewood, and I think my butt was making a third track by the time the chainsaw used the last of the second tank of gas. They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but it's sure giving it a good try!:confused2:

Hope everyone enjoys a nice, quiet weekend!

Good morning all,

Looks mostly clear, some clouds over the mountain and 20 degrees. Snowed about and inch last night.

It looks good for water all summer. I'm talking about irrigation water. Last year they cut everyone back on how much you could use. For example; if you had the shares to run 20 sprinklers, by August you could only run 5 heads. My bet is this summer we'll be able to use all the shares we have. I personally can run 12-6 gpm heads 24/7. When you think about it that's a lot of water. Some of the bigger share owners can run 180 heads. This is all field water. Water for the house and yard has no limit.

Prayers for those in need.

Good morning to all! Low only went down to 44. Going to a high of 58... Maybe. Depends on when the front comes through. It's on the way....windy right now, could have gusts to 50.

The weather can be from one extreme to another across the whole state. There is snow falling now up in the northern part of the state, 8-12" possible, the middle part of the state will get a little bit of rain showers and wind, the southern part will be sunny and a high near 80. Amazing different climates.

Drew, good news about the CT. Did they find that common sense? I hope they can diagnose the ear problem and get it corrected.

Roy, glad to hear Suzette is doing good!

RNG, thats a nice area of the property! I would be cutting a path back there for a 'serenity' garden / sitting area.

Hope everyone has a great weekend, stay out of any nasty weather, and stay safe! Prayers sent.

It looks like 23° for the low this morning. We got another 5-6 inches of snow over night but it doesn't look like the wind was blowing. Yesterday was sunny and In the high 30's and windy. Today will be partly cloudy with a 60% chance of snow showers with the high around 30° and a light wind for a change.

It took longer to clean up the snow yesterday because I didn't move the drifts that were in the driveway before the storm. I also broke the cable to the plow on the 4 wheeler and had to fix that. I should probably get a new cable for that.

Going back out this morning and move the snow is the only thing planned for today. Hopefully it won't take as long as yesterday.

Lynn ... Just out of curiosity how far are you from Bear Lake?

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Not exactly sure but no more than 5 miles northwest.

Since my earlier post the clouds have cleared and it's blue sky now.

Good Morning Everyone!!!

Today's low was 25ºF, 31ºF presently; and I do not expect more warming today. Sitting here waiting for the anticipated snows. It sucks sitting here powerless to do anything other than watch the snow coming, watching Wifey do the best that she can with performing my "jobs," and knowing and that some decent cold weather follows the snows and we will need more firewood does not help my mental status.

We saw the "Green Door" yesterday. We liked it. The movie deserved the Oscars.

Drew- Progress made with the use of very intrusive measures. Its great to know or at least have a clue about whatever is driving things. Good luck on kicking caffeine. Poke me, prod me, bend me anyway you want me and I'lll grit my teeth and let's go; but kicking caffeine  Good luck

David- Awesome drone picture of another completed home project. Thanks for sharing.

Rich- I am happy to read that your training sessions went well. I did staff trainings at different longterm care facilities and also taught a social psychology course at a local college. I was always exhausted after the presentations. I am convinced that I put a lot more work into what I did than the presentees. I suspect that you did too.

? But now I can say I've been to all three corners on the lot, and if I made that walk every day, I'd be a lot stronger, but maybe a lot more bruised as well. - RNG Thanks for sharing. I agree about the stakes and the property walks. It´s great to discover natural gifts on one's own property  My (dog walking) perimeter trails and paths do not include ~2 acres of hill/rock ledge too steep to safely walk, but I do have a shaded grotto and spring but no waterfalls.

The inconsistent weather reports in NE are due to the reality of 3 separate weather systems impacting the area. The real storm is Sunday night- Monday morning

I hope that everyone is having a decent weekend so far and hope tomorrow will be just as decent as today.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers

Today, in Texas, we commemorate the 183rd Anniversary of the adoption of the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico. On March 2, 1836, the 62 delegates of the people of Texas declared, "the people of Texas do now constitute a free, sovereign, and independent republic."

Four days later was the final siege, at the Alamo, on March 6th.

Remember The Alamo!
