Good morning!!!!

We've been having some beautiful, pleasant weather lately, but I reckon it's time for a change. NWS says it was 70 degrees at 4 a.m. and down to 44 degrees an hour later, with 23 mph north breeze gusting to 33 mph. And I just dumped about .45" of rain out of the gauge.

It was windy this morning, forecast said 50-60mph and with more showers of rain coming.

I remember getting my first raise...from $1.60/hour to $1.62 because I set a new record for production on my machine.
Wng, you must have been proud of that recognition. Hope you spent all that extra money wisely ;)

My daughter sent me this pic, she says my granddaughter wants to get it for me for my birthday :D
:). Reminds me of the "Uncle Buck" film.

When I worked with mining machinery, once we went underground in the early evening, they often wouldn't wind us back up again until the morning shift was coming back on, even if we had finished hours ago. In the deeper mines the coal face was usually a warm place, so you didn't wear much, but in winter as you returned closer to the lift shaft the air blown down from the surface was pretty cold. I used to try and find a cosy transformer top to curl up on. Even after taking a cat nap underground, the hardest part was always staying awake for the drive home afterwards.

Our temperature continues to fall, going for a forecast low tonight of 24. wngsprd, my first salaried job was as a part time, temporary mail carrier and I think the pay was about $1.60. But 3 years later when I became a clerk in the Dallas post office, it was an even $2 an hour. I still have some of my pay stubs from that first year.

Good morning to all! WOW! What a change... Low went down to 14 last night, only a high of 30 today and windy. Yesterday's low was higher than today's high. About 25 degrees colder today. There's a light dusting of snow this morning. Slowly warming back up to upper 40's by Sunday....darn, I thought spring was here.

My first paramedic job in the early eighties had interesting hours, two 10 hour days (7am-5pm), 24 hours off, then two 14 hour nights (5pm-7am). Talk about messing up your time schedule on a weekly basis. Did that for only about a year, then worked only day shifts for the next 20 years.

Then, at the age of 45, went back to school. At the time I was working full time at one hospital (3 - 12 hour shifts) On Fri, Sat, Sun, on the critical cardiac unit. Then worked part time at another hospital on varied day or night shifts. Only had classes on Mondays and Tuesdays, but all day from 7-5.

I thought that I had this all figured out and would just 'tough it out' for 18 months. Then the required clinical shifts for school started. I didn't get a choice as to what shifts you would get. It became a juggling act getting work shifts traded so I could do the clinical shifts. Some were back to back, so doing 24 hours+ straight. Four times in 6 months I had to work a regular shift for 12 hours, go to a clinical shift for 12 hours, then to another work shift for 12. One day off, (sometimes only 12 hours) then back at it! By the time that I was getting near to graduation, I really didn't care anymore! Looking back, I would probably do it all over again....maybe just a bit younger:D

Drew, enjoy the morning breakfast. Maybe you can make it a weekly occurrence, that way you can get a 'scheduled' break....you could use it for sure! :drink:

RNG, while your pulling that bike around on the trailer, you can just imagine being back there riding! No wait....you have to drive...don't do that! :D:laughing:::thumbsup:

Everyone have a great day! Stay safe and warm. Prayers sent.

70°F here this morning which will be our high today. Temps to fall throughout the day and get to 38°F overnight. Spring, Fall, and Winter all in one day.

I put my pallet forks and 72" extensions on the 55 hp tractor yesterday and helped one of my neighbors set his diesel tank base in place and get it leveled. Then picked up his 400 gallon tank and got it set in place.

I sprayed some patches of clover down by the shop, Tuesday afternoon, with some selective herbicide that was 3 years old. Didn't have high expectations, due to age, but was pleasantly surprised to find wilting clover yesterday morning, about 15 hours after treatment.

With the good results at the shop, got selective weed spray on most of the yard around the house. I hope to finish that today if rains stays away until later.

Everyone have an excellent Friday Eve!

Prayers to all.

Good morning! 65˚F cloudy and the temp is dropping as the wind blows from the North. Tomorrow sleet with the wind chill in the teens. Heading to the Gardens this morning.
Yesterday there were no injuries during stump removal and pickle ball class.
Pickle ball is a good thing to know but I don't think it will be a weekly thing for me.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!!!

Freezing rain showers most if the evening, 32ºF was today's low; 34ºF presently; near today's anticipated high temperature. Not a lot of rain fell, but it looks like enough fell for ~.1 of ice. More of the same tonight/tomorrow. As others have posted a lot of ice outside. The solar reflection off our windows has created quite an ice field where the "heat" focuses. The knee is complaining today; some day I'll figure out which weather dynamic gets that dull throb going; I have avoided doing stupid things so far. The worst I've done (so far) is gimping around w/o crutches food prepping and cooking. 8 more days before the orthopedist and hopefully get rid of this :censored: knee immobilizer.

Steppenwolfe- You are married to a harem of orange. Introducing a green or blue color would "clash" Impressive hangar. Thanks for sharing.

Ted- I like the T. The descriptions seem to apply to a few here;)

Drew- I am happy to read that you are finally taking a break and let your body rest, I hope the aches&pains resolve today. I hope that you find something to help resolve the earache.

I hope that everyone is having a manageable day today with resolving aches & pains, improving weather, and projects completed successfully.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

46 heading to 56 today. Look at Buppies weather! That's crazy warm just down South.

Heading to the city, again. Drove up to Baltimore yesterday, flipping three hours, just traffic. Normally about one and a half hours. Things are just busy and this is the new normal.
Spent like five hours on the road for a one hour meeting. LOL.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.
Welcome to Baltimore, lol.

Traffic is atrocious. The gov't shut down was great for traffic.

43°F and thunderstorms this morning, with temps steadily dropping through the day to around 10° tonight. Hopeful that the expected winds today will dry roads out a bit before everything freezes tonight.

The trip visit the customer's facility in Maryville MO was a mixed bag. The meeting went better than expected, and we worked out some good options moving forward. The drive there Tuesday afternoon was slow, as I spent about an hour-and-a-half driving through freezing rain in north central Missouri. Arrived about 7:30pm. After the meeting Wednesday, I left and decided to go south to Kansas City and take I-70 all the way back. It wasn't much better than US-36 the day before. There was a freezing mist falling the entire trip. I guess the ice took a heavy toll on drivers, as from about St. Joseph, past KC, and almost to Columbia, I must have seen nearly 100 cars and trucks off the road and in ditches or medians. Not sure I've ever seen that many accidents in my life. I got stuck behind a blockade of salt/plow trucks on I-435 in KC for about 15 miles going 25 mph. That's always frustrating, but they have to do what they have to do. Once I got to Columbia MO, the temperature had risen above freezing, and then it was just an irritating mist the rest of the way home. I left Maryville at 12:45pm, and pulled into the garage at home at exactly 8:00pm.

Was nice to sleep in my own bed last night.

The only night shift work I ever did was when I worked in contract security. As a field supervisor for Wells Fargo Guard Services back in the early '90s, I would work the overnights during the week, and split 12-hour shifts 12-12 on weekends with the other supervisor. The majority of the time I was there, there were only two of us, so we were averaging 68 hours a week (and on salary, of course, with no overtime pay). Day shift was covered on week days by the scheduler. The week nights were 17 hours, 4pm to 9am. Those were some seriously long nights sometimes. I did that for about two years before frustration lead me to find greener pastures. I never liked night shift work. As a working musician, it made things rather difficult.
