Good Morning!!!! 44F and raining @ 5:15AM. Light rain early...then remaining cloudy with thundershowers developing for the afternoon. High 49F. Winds SE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 100%.

Yesterday there were Winter Storm Warnings for the mountains to the east, and Tornado Warnings for the valley down to the southwest. Today the Winter Storm Warnings continue, with FEET of snow due in the Sierras, and just Thunder Storm Warnings for the valley. I heard thunder yesterday afternoon, but it was a long way off. So far there's been about 2 1/4" of rain from this latest series of storms, and maybe as much more to come. Lake Oroville is up about fifty feet in just the past two weeks. If this keeps up, we'll have a good water year.

Got all the elevation data corrected for instrument height, but I'm still struggling trying to reconcile the measurements taken from the three different positions, then correcting them all back to elevation above the southwest corner. Kinda like those mathematical word problems we used to get in school, it all just doesn't make sense quite yet.:confused2:

Signed a contract for the property line survey; it'll go out in Monday's mail. The survey itself should happen during the week of the 19th. Hoping for dry weather for the guys doing it.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend...

Good morning to all! Low only went down to 35, first time in quite a while that it didn't go below freezing. High is going up to 52! Partly sunny this morning, then a chance of showers this afternoon. Snow is now out of the forecast for today and tonight.

Going to try and clean up the clutter that has miraculously appeared in the shop...:confused3::confused:...
It just seems that I come across something that needs to be done so I 'prepare' the items needed on the bench. Then, bringing back the previously used things, put them in the same spot....do the same over and over...soon to have a mess! Then of course, start another project... Maybe too many projects?

Sorry to hear of the funerals / losses that some have experienced.

Drew, maybe wear the soft collar while planting? Maybe it would provide some support and you won't hurt as bad afterwards.

RNG, maybe setting up the level near the center of the proposed build site, shooting the level to the lower point, then just "add" the subtracted amount from the higher side to the lower side, this will give you "level". I'm not sure if that actually explained my thought / process. When we would try to shoot levels that were that different/sloped, we would go to the middle as a starting point. Easier to figure the mathematical difference.

If there is a 15' difference in the slope of the building footprint, you might want to consider a different spot or turning the building..... That's just a LOT of fill needed. Just MHO. ....or do a walk / drive out basement....mmmmm:D

Everyone have a great Sunday! Prayers sent.

It's kind of warm this morning 30°. It's snowing how, we have about two inches so far. The forecast said we might get a inch with a high in the low 30's.

I picked up the switch for the chop saw yesterday. I'll work on that today. Not sure if I'll do anything with the snow today, may wait till tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.
CWB.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!!!

28ºF was today’s low; 30ºF presently; ~40ºF is today’s anticipated high temperature. NWS has issued a Special Weather Statement for freezing drizzle on road surfaces.

That path did look like snow.

Randy- I am sorry to read about your friend’s wife. My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for her, your friend, family, and friends.

BEF- My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for your friend, family, and friends.

Drew- I am sorry to read about your neck and impaired sleep last night. I forgot to mention your helper. I hope that he can give you more hours. Take care.

No real plans for today except enjoy our Super Bowl party for two, try to tolerate all the pregame blah blah blah, and try to stay awake for the entire game. Hopefully the game will be as good as some of the TV commercials.

My + thoughts, wishes, and.prayers.

28 going to 59, sweet. Upper 60s by Tuesday.

BEF and Randy, sorry for the passing of your friends.

Rick, did you feel that earthquake? ...3.0 near Westhoff.

Today is the big day. I guess I'll pull for the old rich guy with the hot wife, and chomp some jalapeno poppers.

Cut some logs and split some firewood yesterday afternoon. I can't believe how different a new saw feels and cuts.

Don, that trail looks nice, but I agree it looks like snow or ice.

"Rick, did you feel that earthquake? ...3.0 near Westhoff."

Nope, didn't feel it here. According to USGS, it was about 6 miles NW of Westhoff. That's about 80 miles SW of the ranch. It occurred at 05:00 UTC so about 11 p.m. yesterday. A 3.0 magnitude is pretty low. I'll call an attorney friend whose Ranch is outside of Cuero later.

61°F this morning and very foggy again. Forecast is for 73°F this afternoon.

It was foggy yesterday, till late morning, then rained off and on all day so ..... tree trimming was cancelled. Dumped another 1/2" out of rain gauges just before dark.

Today is tractor maintenance day but, not much to do since, other than getting the 100 HP New Holland stuck last weekend, both it and the 55 HP LS, have generally been parked for almost 5 weeks due to very wet conditions. Need to vacuum out cabs on both and wash inside windows.

I might get back to determining if I can operate my 3-point log splitter just connecting hydraulic hoses and not putting it on the tractor. Anyone else ever try this?

If this works I will probably build a new stand for it getting it a bit higher for operation. Right now, the top of the main beam is less than 2' high.

Hoping everyone has an excellent Sunday.

Prayers to all.
