Good Morning!!!! 51F @ 6:00AM. Cloudy with periods of rain. High around 50F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall near a quarter of an inch. Locally heavy rainfall possible.
Yesterday saw another three inches of rain fall, an inch of it coming down in just a couple hours last night. A gust blew the roof off the parts van, again, landing it in the flower bed next to the good van. It was held down with a ratchet strap, but it either got loose or broke, maybe due to the fire. I did notice that someone had moved it during the evacuation, so maybe they didn't get it back on correctly. Moved the roof into the garage for safe keeping for now; the winds and rain will have to slack off before I can do anything else with it.
I gave up on nails when my carpal tunnel had me throwing hammers after just driving in a few, Kyle. Even if I have to drill a hole first, I think screws just do a better job. I also find I have a much better chance of hitting a punch if I actually look at it when I'm swinging the hammer. But sometimes I have to look at the end resting on whatever it's punching to make sure everything is aligned properly, and that's when I put a glove on the holding hand. I've still busted fingernails through the glove, though. I can't repeat here what usually comes out of my mouth when that happens. Oh, so I guess I'm still single 'cause I've been riding those fuddy duddy ol' BMW motorcycles instead of a crotch rocket?

Speaking of motorcycles, I finished up the repairs on the electrically heated jacket liner yesterday. The material in the collar was also shot, so I found some waterproof nylon to cover it. That area often gets wet when I"m riding in the rain, so I think it'll work better than the taffeta that was on the original. Tried it on, and somehow I managed a snugger fit at the collar as well, so now the jacket is better than new. Not bad for a 29 year old piece of clothing.
Off to town today for groceries, and I also have meetings set up with the insurance agent and the company that erects Butler buildings here. Hope to get the insurance claim started, and maybe pare down the premium by dropping risks that I'm not likely to encounter. And I'm hoping that the construction company can give me some insights into the permitting process, and how to deal with the steep grades around the building site. Most of all, though, I want to hear how resistant the thing is to wind driven embers; no sense putting something up that'll just burn down in the next fire.
