Good morning!!!!

Good morning. It is just on freezing here, with very little wind. A friend wants to take advantage of the relatively dry conditions and asked if I can go load muck for him to spread. That should keep me out of trouble for the day.

Never heard of a gray squirrel stripping bark.

Now that is interesting. Perhaps the trees on your side of the pond were susceptible in past generations and have since adapted - or died out . Here they seem to go for Sycamore(Acer pseudoplatanus), Beech(Fagus sylvatica) and Sweet Chestnut(Castanea sativa) first, particularly relatively young trees that are 10+ years old.

Fluctuating between 31 and 33 with you guessed it, another weekend with steady rain. Not sure if we will be going out or not. Depends if roads are iced over. Enjoy the weekend everyone.

where's my lobster?

today for sure is not going to be a do nothing day.
In fact I'm going to likely overdo it but I have Javier here for the whole day.
First we tear everything out of the greenhouse, including the plastic grid floor, and then
I cut plastic floor decking to size and build a new floor in there, raising it up a good inch. Then the grid plastic decking goes back on top.
I think, that's the plan. I need all the height I can get because the area around the greenhouse becomes a lake in heavy rains.

Thought about rolling the Bosch table saw all the way up there but I think some saw horses and a hand Skilsaw will do just fine.
I only have to cut about four inches off the end of each 8 foot piece, this is not tough carpentry...
Will then screw the ends down into the existing wood floor frame. I have no idea what I'm doing but having fun anyway.

45 and drizzle and fog again today. Should see 57 later, and sun tomorrow.

Bird, you have been a kind, remarkable neighbor.

Thomas, did you feel the small earthquake over near Moultonborough?

Eric, we have lots of gray squirrels here, and Sycamores, Beech and many other trees, but no stripped bark. They will occasionally chew off the end of an oak branch if it has a green acorn.

Got my wife to go with me to the gym yesterday :). Then made a Costco run in the rain yesterday (an excuse to go to the nearby Tex-Mex place for lunch) and everything was very busy, like BEFORE Christmas, not a week or two later.

Eric, I'm another one who never heard of squirrels stripping bark off a tree.

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 24° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 46° with mostly sunny skies. Made it to 51° yesterday. Was a good day to get some projects done outside. If we get similar warming today. Plan to get lawn mower out and push all the leaves into the woods.
Yesterday I had one of those should have had the camera out moments. Walked out of the garage looking at tool I had in my hands. I look up and there is a Sandhill Crane in my path. About 2' away. It was well over 4' tall. It looked at me as if to say. This is my space. You better go around me. I did. I have heard stories of them going after people if they think there is food available. This Crane was not part of the 4 that spend most of the day here. It has partner that was close by. Still need to see what pictures I have collected on my tail cam at bird feeder.

Bird, sorry to hear about your neighbors condition. Hope it is something as simple as medication adjustment. Prayers sent. I like the pay it forward approach to helping others.

Jay, we have a resident squirrel. That likes to set on top of a ornamental bird house. It cannot get at the bird feeder. Because the closest tree limb is 10'. I need to trim the limbs back on that tree to keep it that way. I do spread some corn on ground around bird feeder. This seems to keep squirrels happy.

PJ, I remember churning butter when I was a kid. Seems like it took hours. It was done with the jar and paddle type.

Harvey, will that block of bird food last until you get back in the spring?

Prayers for those in need.

Good Morning All.
