Good morning all. -4C/25F at 8:30 am

I am tempted to take the old Subaru when I go out in a few minutes. It must be feeling neglected as it has not been run for a month or more. With a bit of luck the top layer of mud in the gateways should be firm enough to let me get through ...

How do you prepare your Brussel sprouts?

Boiled/steamed in nothing but plain water until soft.

Best of all is to cook more sprouts and mashed potatoes than needed, then next day fry up what's left and serve with a spoonful of "sweet piccalili" (made with cauliflower, onion, gherkin and tumeric and just enough sugar to make it slightly less sour than sucking on a lemon)

37 going to 49 and rain comes to visit tonight.

Had a good workout at the gym yesterday...it's a New Year's Day tradition...they give out t-shirts and other stuff...always a crowd with new resolutions on their mind.

Eric, I gave my wife a bottle of Crosse and Blackwell Chow Chow Piccalilli in her stocking...never heard of it before, but thought it sounded interesting when I saw it in the store. We haven't tried it yet.

Haircut today.

For those on TBN that have dabbled in a little programming, what is the first computer language you learned ?

It is just over 40 years since I last used the FORTRAN I was taught in the 70's, but all the languages I've seen since rely on much the same concepts.

I cut my eye teeth on Fortran, too, Eric. Had to write a Program to solve a Rungacutta equation for my first graduate controls engineering class. I had no previous experience with either, and if it weren't for a very patient lab partner named Ray, I'd have washed out. But I took to software development like a duck takes to water, and made a career of it.

I share your dislike for labeling anything software related with "app". Sure makes it difficult trying to explain things to someone new to computing, as I was trying to do yesterday.
