My original post for this morning seems to have disappeared into the never never land of the interweb.

At 5:30 the temp was 30 and the high for today was to be 27F. Wind was 14 gusting to 20 mph. 40% chance of flurries.

A do nothing but conserve energy today.

Have a good day all

Bird, I think of Timex watches every Christmas, each time I hear "Deck the hall with boughs of holly". When I was younger they had a tv commercial to that tune that encouraged us to "Ring the bells with Christmas Timex, Tick-a-tick-a-Timex tra-laa-la ". It has forever hijacked that carol and would take some serious therapy to erase, my only way of coping was to later in life buy a Seiko . Fortunately for all here I couldn't find it on you tube

Eric, I know I used to see some Timex commercials on TV, but don't remember any specifics. Of course, as a police officer, I had to have a watch and put the date and time on lots of paperwork, so we all definitely wore a watch, and of course the city did not pay for that.

I have a bunch of pocket watches I've inherited from my Father's side of the family; I have his, my Grandfather's, and Great-grandfather's pocket watches that are kept in my Father's cuff link case and in our safe. My Great-grandfather died in an automobile accident, and the watch broke at the time of his death. The rest all function fine. I have one I wear when we dress for an outing, which is engraved with my initials and was given to me by my Wife while we were still dating. It's the only watch I ever use.

I wore a wedding band and a high school class ring until December 29, 1965, when my partner wrapped us and the squad car around a tree, which broke my seat belt, amongst other things. But someone at the hospital removed my rings that night, Thank Goodness because the swelling in my hands didn't go down enough for me to put those rings back on for a long time, and I just decided to never wear ANY ring again, and I haven't. I still have those rings, but never put them on.

41-53 today, breezy.
Just put on a croc pot full of my homemade chili, won’t be as spicy as you Texas boys, but suits us pretty well. I’ll let y’all smell it later.

I wore a wedding band until it got caught on wire parts basket. Sure did bleed for a while. Have not worn one since. I have a retirement watch in the same drawer as wedding ring. Have never worn it. It says I worked there 29 years. I worked for them 36 years.

Good Morning!!!! 48F @ 5:30AM. Partly cloudy. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 52F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.

I read somewhere a while back that temperature should be designated by a C or an F, capitalized, and the degree symbol left off.

Also, the gibberish associated with certain symbols was cured on my iPad by adjusting one of the settings, but I don't remember which one.:confused3: It had something to do with the difference between ASCII text and the newer extended alphabets now in use on "smart" devices. I posted about it here, but don't have the energy or time this morning to go dig it out again.

As much time as I've always spent around tools and shops, I've never been much for rings, as they're so easily misplaced when taken off to work. A buddy of mine solved the problem by getting a ring tattoo, but he's got so many tattoos you hardly notice it.:confused2:

After yesterday's adventure in the garage, I took some time to put stuff away and reduce the number of paperwork piles on my desk, then found and read my homeowner's insurance policy. The good news is that the coverage limits are generous and it is for replacement value, not actual cash value. But after I started a list of losses, it's pretty clear the sum wouldn't exceed the deductible. I guess in a way, that's a good thing, too, as the fire could have turned out a whole lot worse in that respect. That being the case, it would also be a waste of time to register with FEMA. Their web site makes it pretty clear that they do not cover insurance policy deductibles.

Took a look at the documentation that came with the gate opener, and the beeps it was making the other day were a low battery indicator. That was verified when I hooked up the Battery Saver and it only showed 8 volts remaining. It'll have its work cut out for it if it can save that battery; this isn't the first time it's been severely drained and they never seem to come back after that. The Might Mule tech I spoke to last week told me that when the receiver burned it ruined the part of the control board it was connected to, and apparently it took out the ability of the solar charger to work as well. A new control board is $175, but a whole new opener mechanism is $350, and TSC has 'em on sale for $299 if I wanna wait for next year for delivery. So I'll try to swing by one in Chico today to pick up a replacement just to get the gate back into operation. All depending on how it goes at the courthouse this morning.

Tried to kindle a bit of Christmas spirit last night by watching Ralphie in A Christmas Story; it's still very funny. Then started to watch Bad Santa, which was only sorta funny and in a sick kind of way. Fell asleep half way through it, and won't bother to replay what I missed.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

It's 15° this morning, yesterday was in the mid 40's and sunny. Today is supposed be in the high 30's and partly cloudy.

Went for a ride early yesterday morning and seen a few elk and deer. Then spent the rest of the day trying to organize things in the garage and watershed.

I don't have any plans for today. Maybe go up and see what the neighbor is working on.

Hope everyone gets a good start to the week.
CWB.

I wore a watch from age 7 until June 2017, took it off and haven’t missed it. I wore my wedding band for the 42 years before my wife died, and 4 months after.

Good morning to all! Low was down to 23F, going up to 51F. Sky is overcast, but no precip is forcast. The guessers are saying high up to 57-58F by the end of the week.

I ate way too many cookies for dessert last night. They were way to good.....

Still have that darn cough in the morning, hopefully won't get any worse.

My wedding ring has been on for 35 1/2 years. My finger has actually 'grown' around it.... No way is it coming off, only way would be to cut it off.

Everyone have a great start to the week. Prayers and thoughts sent out.
