Good morning!!!!

Yankees and Phillies, no surprise. But honestly I've never been a sports watcher. Played a fair amount of tennis before my back fell apart. But never spent much time in front of a tv.

Dad took me to Yankee Stadium when I was 12, saw Mickey Mantle play. Yogi Berra was catching. The roar of the stadium was quite an experience for a quiet country boy. I was terrible at Little League, dropped half the balls thrown to me, so never followed baseball much. Thankfully being a soccer fullback was the shoe for my not so coordinated foot. Nor did I ever get any musical talent. I was even terrible with a harmonica...:confused3: Though I find humming to myself at times very satisfying.

Glad to see you back, Harv. I've wondered how you and Glenda were doing.

Kyle, I'm sure I've posted it before, but when I was a youngster (pre-school age days), one night something stung me. Thinking it was a wasp in the house, I pulled the sheet up over my head. Then one hand that was not completely under the sheet got stung, so I made sure I was completely covered. And the third sting convinced me that something was under that sheet with me. And I came out of bed yelling. Mother and Dad came running in, turned on the light, and a BIG scorpion was on my pillow. So I grew up with a phobia where scorpions are concerned. We moved into a new house in a new development in 1972 and I think I killed 3 scorpions the first night, and the next day I had professional exterminators there.

75 degrees going for 87 today with a 30% chance of rain. Our garbage collection is every Monday. One truck gets the garbage, which I bag, and another truck gets the recycling bin. I only have to put out the recycling container about every 3rd Monday. So I put out the recycling bin and the garbage yesterday afternoon because I thought it might be raining this morning. It rained 3 times yesterday; heavy downpours each time, but short enough duration that only .05" to .07" each time; total for the day of no more than .17". However, the last rain arrived with a freak high wind that blew the recycling bin over and scattered the contents all over our yard and the next door yard on the north side. Quite a mess I had to clean up when the rain let up.

Good morning!
Temp here was 38F at 5 A.M. and not raining. Now at 8:15 it is raining and 40F and going to a high of 50. :(
No last grass cut of the year for me, until maybe Tuesday. I will probably take the outside bug zapper down and store it for the winter.

I got the new Shelter Logic Garage the other day, now I need to get a hold of the guy that installs them for me.
IF I have it worked out right I will be able to put the Jeep and trailer on one side and the backhoe on the other, with the ride on mower in front of the BH. Close the door and out of sight, out of mind.

Happy turkey day for those that celebrate it!

41F this morning, coffee tasting good.

Unloaded pickup Saturday (still full of camping gear), it isn't too bad as we have things in totes, so just a matter of unloading and putting on shelves. With the pickup empty, we decided to take care of recycles which took most of the rest of the day. Took two good loads, will take used oil next time.

Yesterday was supposed to be finishing up winterizing the travel trailer after church and then swapping out worn out pilot/thermopile/thermocouple/ignition on propane stove.. had new assembly, just needed to take stove apart and replace. Took several hours longer than expected so did not get trailer finished.

Lots going on, stay safe.

It's 28° this morning with a light breeze and snow flurries. We had snow flurries most of yesterday with more today and a high around 40° with a 10-15 mph wind.

We usually get storms like this in September and early October and in a few days it warms back up and melts the snow. The ten day forecast shows it will be back in the mid 50's by next week. The snow that stays are usually in the first part of November.

Don't have any plans for today. But I'm sure I'll find something that needs done.

Hope everyone has a good start to the week.
CWB.

My wife came home this weekend from 3 weeks in NC taking care of her parents. Both her licenses plates and annual inspection expired while gone.

I put the new license stickers on, and made an appointment for inspection.

Decided to wash it this morning since it is so foggy I hardly had to use the hose. Took 2.5 hours. Still so foggy can't see a quarter mile.

My teams are the Baltimore Orioles...watch parts or all of almost every game...painful this year. Also like the Tar Heels and UVA and VA Tech. Like Don, got turned off by pro football. Like boxing and tractor pulling.

68°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 87° today. Pretty much the same for tomorrow, then temps start to drop on Wednesday through the day. Highs the rest of the week in the upper 50s. Summers last hurrah.

Got the holes dug and concrete footings poured for deck steps Saturday morning, then spent a few hours dragging the rotary cutter around the pasture for one last time this year. I just beat the rains that had been threatening most of the afternoon, and was rewarded with a nice bright rainbow after the first round passed.

Wifey and I finished the steps around two sides of Deckasaurus on Sunday. The only things left to do on it now are to put up the lattice along two sides to close it off from skunks, possums, and raccoons, add the solar lights for the steps, and finish the last boards at the east end. Poor planning left me just under 2" short on the top boards, so I'm having a guy a couple towns over plane down a couple of 12' 2x8s for me. Then, Deckasaurus will be done.

I'd be happy to ride US-50 with you, RNG ... but I suspect you'd be less than happy riding with me. I've always ridden like an old fuddy-duddy, even in younger years. I once went on a large group ride at the BMW MOA Falling Leaf Rally in Potosi MO ('91, I think). After about 25 miles of winding, hilly roads, I had hopelessly lost the group. So, I turned around at the next town and went back to the campgrounds. It was a beautiful ride, but I was alone for about 3/4 of it.

Ron, the kitchen island turned out great. Nice work.

I like your idea about the stepson being an alien, Drew. Unfortunately, a more earthly explanation can be found with a quick look at how his father lives. And on that note, The Wife and boy are going to look at an apartment for him in Breese IL after he gets off work tonight. Rent would be slightly less that one week's pay. She picked up a bunch of kitchen essentials for him over the weekend. He still needs living room furniture, which we'll also get for him. We told him we'd pay the deposit and first month's rent, and help him get his utilities turned on. After that, it's all up to him. Wife actually seems excited about emptying the proverbial nest.

I've never really been a huge sports fan. I played football, baseball, basketball, and ran track as a youngster. Even got a track scholarship for high jumping. As an adult, though, I've never really been all that fanatical about professional sports. Even with the Cardinals here, I'm not a big baseball fan. STL has had some terrible football years between the Rams and the Cardinals, with a few great Rams seasons sprinkled in there. But, I was always a Steelers fan, starting with those great Lynn Swann years. However, the NFL over the last few years has successfully destroyed any lingering interest I had in pro football. Never was a big basketball fan either. I like the game, but the pro level is just a big see-what-I-can-do fest, and college level isn't much different anymore. I did develop a strong liking for NHL hockey after my divorce in 1990. Most of my friends spent most of their time watching hockey, and I developed a strong liking for the Detroit Redwings of that era ... much to the chagrin of my St. Louis Blues supporting cohorts. Still something of a Wings fan, but don't really have the time to be a devoted watcher these days (which is OK, because they are less good right now).
