remarkably quiet night last night. When I came in the lobby and dining area was packed with very nicely dressed folks, tuxedos and nice gowns, all waiting to board the stretch limos and vans outside.
Very emotional day for me yesterday, seeing my first wife crying in front of me and not being able to hold her hand. Talking about her Mother who gave me a lot of love, even if it was 30 years ago, in front of her brothers, wasn't easy. You stand to speak in the silence, and you try to speak loud enough that all the old folks who can't hear have a chance. You speak slowly, and as with many that hour, hard to do so without getting choked up. Trying to talk when your brain doesn't seem totally connected to your voice, you feel your heart thumping away.
One of the brothers was a first line clown for Ringling Bros and his wife a ballerina with them for many years. I went to the Circus a lot for awhile...great fun. And at the memorial, the head of Ringling was there, and he looked around at the full room(s), and with a knowing smile to the family who he knew well said this was quite a showing for a Saturday Matinee. Everyone laughed, this was a celebration of her life.
Onward. Starting today going to my own Meeting, and then to my own MIL for lunch, and then multiple visits afterwards through dinner. Lots to do, all fun. Brought some jars of Bertie County peanuts up for house presents.
50 degrees going to 70 today I believe.
