Good morning!!!!

Good morning! All this talk of rain and we just got put under water restrictions. After a cool morning yesterday we still hit 100˚ in the afternoon. 66˚ now heading to near 100 again.

Fitbit is suppose to be coming out with a Charge 3 this year, I wait a few months to see the reviews. The chest strap is said to be the most accurate but I find them uncomfortable, but no use monitoring the heart rate if it's not accurate.

Ron, I don't think any watch or chest strap will take blood pressure because they cannot occlude blood flow.

Does everyone see a little zero when I put the degrees sign next to the temp number like this ˚ or does it come out as some weird characters on your device?

Don, I see the symbol for degrees just fine. I used to know the keyboard shortcut for that.

˚ The option or alt key and the letter k at the same time on a mac.

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 5:15AM. Partly cloudy. Areas of smoke and haze are possible, reducing visibility at times. High 93F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Option k, eh? Learn something every day. Your degree sign shows up fine on this resurrected 17" MacBook Pro, Don. I've been making the degree sign for years using option-shift-8. I think the funny characters are some sort of problem with the TBN web site. I only see them when I'm using the iPad, and even then only once in a while. When they show up, I can go back and edit the post to change them back to what they should be, usually a single or double apostrophe.

Starting to see more and more articles blaming these super wildfires out here on forest mismanagement. Not removing dead trees and letting litter and branches accumulate on the forest floor, not allowing logging, even the dead trees in areas damaged by fire, no debris management with controlled burns. Finger pointing to environmental policies not supported with science or past good results with traditional techniques. Well, if it keeps going like it has, Mother Nature is going to take care of it herself, and tens of thousands if not millions of people are going to lose their homes and more. Doesn't seem like much of a choice to me.

I did get to the mechanic's place yesterday, and did get to see the van start and run. The muffler problem turned out to be interference with a bracket, not the header, which might be fixed with a couple of spacers, but again I told him not to mess with it and just get it smogged. Hope to get a text message later today that it passed, but won't be surprised if it doesn't.

A friend is headed this way today for some welding on his bike's exhaust system. He's found an air/fuel mixture monitoring system that needs a threaded bung to be installed on the collector, and he wants to open up the collector box while he's here and remove any baffles and such that may be inside. Not sure that's such a good idea, as BMW spent a lot of time and money optimizing flow and back pressure in the device, but who's to say he's not onto something. It'll satisfy my curiosity to see what's inside one, and it'll be easy as he'll be the one doing the grinding and cutting needed, though I'm not sure he's aware of that just yet...

TGIF gang!:drink:

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 61ー with a few scattered clouds. Heading to 82ー with partly cloudy skies. Got dolly made for weight box yesterday. Needed to run over to TSC and get 2.34 pounds of bolts, nuts and washers. $4.40. Sure beats the prices at Lowes. Going to start work on putting retaining wall back up today. Plan is not to do any heavy work. Arm is getting better.<snip>.

Hey, I just had to buy 4 M8-1.25 bolts at lowes. They only cost about $3 :)

"Taking the scenic route to Sturgis
South Dakota’s scenic highways roar to life this week as hundreds of thousands of bikers from around the world arrive for the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The small town of Sturgis, population roughly 7,000, swells to a gathering of half a million for this event, which includes 10 days of races, concerts, and revelry. The Sturgis rally was founded in 1938 by the Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club and Sturgis resident Clarence ‘Pappy’ Hoel–a legend in these parts. What started as a modest gathering of just nine riders is now one of the largest rallies in the world."

I've been to Sturgis, and it is pretty in those parts, but not during the rally. Too much noise, bad behavior, and so jammed you can't get anywhere or see anything. Hot, hot, hot, too. No thanks.

And yesterday I got to buy two bearings at the friendly local BMW motorcycle dealer. They were $82.50 EACH  I guess I should be happy they were available at all; the bike they'll go in is 37 years young...

It's 50* for the low this morning. Yesterday was in the low 80' s with a few lite showers in the morning. Today is going to be in the mid 80's with a 20% chance of showers and the wind 15-20 mph.

End up making two trips to town yesterday ,that made for a long day. I did get a e-mail from Dexter axle saying they didn't have any records for the trailer axles.
RNG can get bearings for a 30+ year old BMW and I can't find brakes for a US made trailer. Oh well, I'll call Dexter back and see if they can make new one that will work or call some other manufacturer.

Hope everyone gets a good start to your weekend.
CWB.
