81 degrees out and I'm sunburned.
Lovely day outside, planted and planted and planted. Soil thermometer in hills right at 70 degrees.

My internet home page is cnn.com since I thought they had balanced news but they sure don't. Some say msnbc is better.
I find it interesting to see what Fox News says too.
But everyone seems to have an agenda.

We do watch Fox 4 News in the morning, but seldom watch any other news casts. I still watch the old Gunsmoke reruns; doubt that there's any episode I've seen less than 3 or 4 times at least. And I still watch the old John Wayne movies that I recorded on the TV.

Of course in a previous life, I appeared on the TV news a couple of times. Since I was the first active recruiter for the police department, a young female reporter (whose name I've forgotten) took me by surprise when she came out to where I was, in a shopping center, to interview me about our recruiting program, and ran that interview on the evening news for 2 days.

But some years later, when I was a lieutenant, Commander of the Helicopter Section, a well known TV newsman showed up at my office, with his camera man, and said he was there for me to have a helicopter take them up to get some aerial photos. I told him I couldn't do that, so he said he'd talked to my boss, an assistant chief, and the chief said I'd take them up. So I called that assistant chief, and he assured me that newsman had NOT contacted him. So the newsman left without saying another word.

A few years later, I was a captain, Commander of the Communications Division (know by some as the dispatcher's office:laughing:). Shortly after I took over that job, we had a power outage in downtown Dallas one afternoon, and quickly learned that the emergency generator was not properly wired for our telephones. Of course, we quickly found a work around and missed no calls. But that same newsman showed up with his camera man. He kept asking questions, everything he could think of, and I kept answering all of them, until his camera man told him he was out of tape. So they left. But the next morning, the chief's administrative assistant called me and said the same newsman wanted to interview me in the news media room. So I went to the news media room and sat down with him, and once again answered questions for about an hour, with the camera man recording all of it.

And that evening, on the 6 o'clock news, the only thing shown on the TV was a partial second shot of me when I said, "I don't know" once. If I'd known that was all he was looking for, we could have saved several hours.

Have watched about half a dozen tv shows in the last 10 or 15 years, just don't want to. Catch Fox news on line most days. Skim more than read. Our best friends called and her dad died 45 min ago. Almost exactly 2 1/2 day after mom. Seems almost strange that it worked out that way. Ed

News?

*I make my living off the evening news
Just give me something-something I can use
People love it when you lose,
They love dirty laundry

Well, I coulda been an actor, but I wound up here
I just have to look good, I don't have to be clear
Come and whisper in my ear
Give us dirty laundry

We got the bubble-headed-bleach-blond
Who comes on at five
She can tell you 'bout the plane crash with a gleam in her eye
It's interesting when people die
Give us dirty laundry

Can we film the operation?
Is the head dead yet?
You know, the boys in the newsroom got a running bet
Get the widow on the set!
We need dirty laundry

You don't really need to find out what's going on
You don't really want to know just how far it's gone
Just leave well enough alone
Eat your dirty laundry

Dirty little secrets
Dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers in everybody's pie
We love to cut you down to size
We love dirty laundry

We can do "The Innuendo"
We can dance and sing
When it's said and done we haven't told you a thing
We all know that crap is king
Give us dirty laundry!

The only news I watch up here is CBC and that only if they post a video. For England it is Daily Mail and in the US it is Fox.
TV shows I don't watch as I don't watch TV. Any of the old TV shows that are on you tube I will catch; Gunsmoke, Rawhide, Silent Service and most WW2 movies.

Had a good day, did some work on my wife's shop, then lunch with some guys from another Forum, YTMAG. Then back to work for a couple hours, washed the dog, he had gotten pretty dirty. My wife made some Pierogis, sauerkraut ones, very good. Drinking a beer. Life is good.
Hope you guys are doing good, and prayers for all.

I'll see your Don Henley and call with Simon and Garfunkle:

"I get the news I need on the weather report."

Really like the old TV shows as well, never was a sit-com fan though. I don't watch any of the current big network series, except maybe for some off the cable channels like the reality stuff shows Moonshiners and Seal Team. I don't watch anything but the local news live, it's all on the DVR or comes in on DVDs through Netfiix. I've tried to watch some streaming shows like Orange Is The New Black, but buffering breaks it up so much because of the satellite it's almost unwatchable.

Oldies include:
Combat!
Crime Story
The French Chef
Miami Vice
Rat Patrol
The Prisoner
The Outer Limits
Then Came Bronson
Twilight Zone
Route 66

A fair amount of history based dramas, usually off PBS:
American Experience
Connections
All Creatures Great And Small
Band of Brothers
Behind the Music
Danger UXB
Downton Abbey
Nova
The Pacific

And a few of the Showtime/HBO series:
Boardwalk Empire
Breaking Bad
Deadwood
Game of Thrones
**** on Wheels
Peaky Blinders
Preacher
Rome
*** And The City
Spartacus
The Sopranos

A bunch of SiFi stuff to like Firefly, various Star Trek incarnations, Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, Taken, The 4400...

I won't even get started on movies; I'd be here all night!:confused2:

Another pretty good day. Got the mowing done, flew the drone, made a dump run, enjoyed my IP chicken soup, spent quality time with the love of my life, and the invite out for our Spring potluck in April.
Life is good.

Good morning. I will catch up on TBN later when the rain comes, this morning I would like to get out while it's still dry and I'm still many pages behind.

Anyone else think that cars are getting a little too over protective ? This Subaru is the first car I've had with an electric parking brake and yesterday it fooled me when I needed to move out of the way of a tractor while I was in a friend's farmyard. It insisted I either put the seat belt back on, or return the selector back to park, press the brake pedal and press the manual parking release switch before allowing me to reverse a few yards. I suppose I will soon get used to it and fortunately all the detail is there in the manuals, it's just that there is so much of it to read, let alone remember.

A short while after I first passed my driving test, my new girlfriend's father lent me his car to take her out. When he gave me the keys I thought how kind and trusting of him. Only later did I realise it was probably another test. The forward gears were smooth enough, although selection of a couple did seem more to luck than the position of the gear stick. Reverse was something else completely. It took me what felt like a lifetime to feel my way through to the elusive gear. I feared I would have to ask my lovely young passenger to give me a push. My shirt was drenched with sweat by the time I returned the car and from then on I was always wary of borrowing it again, particularly as he often parked it facing downhill, close up to a neighbours car. His daughter was in much better working order - we got married 4 years after we first met.

RNG, as an Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy fan, you may like to know that the BBC are playing a new series called the Hexagonal Phase that follows on from Douglas Adam's last book. It has most of the original radio cast, so that in itself makes it sound like a time warp...

That guy deserved to be "arrested" for fraud or something and shown some hospitality at the jail house for a little while.
