Good morning!!!!

One of the vintage motorcycle groups I watch on FB had a post about repairing pot (white) metal carburetor bodies with Muggy Weld Super Alloy #1. I've tried fixing broken bosses and stripped threads before, and never had any luck with soldering or epoxy. This guys carb body would have cost him $650 to replace, but he was able to soft solder the holes up and grind them back to the correct profile. Just curious of any of you folks have used this stuff, and if you have, how did it work for you. Especially interested in how it held up over time.

well if you want to see a nifty carb repair, check this out. My close friend who is my technical go to and resident Gravely nut,
told a tale of woe about his log splitter falling over when a bolt failed, something that caused his replacement Linfan engine, a high quality
Chinese Chonda, to get really busted up. Air filter was wrecked completely.
What to do. Takes a while to get parts.
Well why not make one's own air filter?
why not?

And so my friend did, using the heavy plastic jar previously holding Bertie County peanuts I had taken to him on a trip up that way. I take those jars of peanuts as house presents.
I'm sure this is only Bertie County peanut air filter in existence.

Necessity is the mother of invention. And this is why you save those nice jars...

Be careful what you say. You know Katie Couric got in hot water over a comment about that.

NBC's Katie Couric apologizes for Olympics snafu that offended Dutch citizens | Fox News

Yeah, these days everybody gets offended about everything Mr. Bird. USA doesn’t have all the snowflakes, I can assure.

But, in this case, it’s true. They do skate on the canals after they freeze up. I’ve skated on the canals, in Amsterdam, myself. On a sunny winter weekend day it can be so crowded you can barely move. The Dutch are good skaters because they skate a lot.

Regarding the school shootings press coverage, I don稚 want to see censorship, but I would love to see a return to responsible journalism. The kind before CNN hit the cable world, brought us the 24 news cycle and forced everyone else to compete for both breaking news and news saturation.

Rough day. Mom is in the hospital, on top of her lungs being attacked by rheumatoid arthritis she now has the flu. Will likely be there for a few days. I spent the day in the basement in my recliner sick, I assume I have the flu as well as does wife and boy. I am the worst right now, hope to be better tomorrow so I can carry my weight of the work around here. Ed

I read the article and can see the reason she said it but, initially I figured it was something about Dikes and frozen canals.

Prayers for Topps, Ron being better than OK, Ed getting over his cold, BEF to be in such great shape that his wife never needs a stud finder and all that need them.

RNG, Maybe that stuff will work. I'm guessing it has a low temp melting alloy mixed in? Maybe bismuth? Might be a hit or miss and require some craftsmanship and good fortune. I know you have the craftsmanship part good to go.

125, I got tired just reading what all you put into the carts.

We are well and have made school and work for the whole week!

I was thinking of taking off Monday Presidents Day and taking the family down to the San Jacinto battlegrounds for a Texas history lesson. It will depend on the weather.

The Battleship of Texas is just across the street.

78F downhere tonight. Might need to run the AC.

My wife doesn't care to get flowers. She prefers chocolates and "a gift that lasts". She told me the card I got her made her "tear up". :)

We went to the Keystone Tractor Museum today. What a great time. I highly recommend a stop for anyone that is driving I-95 in Virginia...but leave plenty of time. Hundreds of tractors, trucks, collector cars and other antique equipment. I need to go back, so would meet anyone wanting to visit. It even has a nice Bar-B-Q restaurant off the lobby with the best BBQ I've had in a long time. The tractors range from 1917 models to 1969, and all colors/makes.

I'll post some photos as I get a chance. Seems to always take a long time for me to attach photos...and my files are too big.

I thought of some of you as I looked at these old tractors. RNG, the first one is for you...a home made tractor I guy built in 1949 by using an Indian motorcycle engine and surplus airplane parts.
