I do not think they are safe for humans

that's what I read too. But boy do they look like yummy blueberries...
My holly trees are just loaded with berries now.
Reminds me to put out birdseed.

Poured first cup of coffee. 8° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 18° with cloudy skies. 27° warmer from yesterdays low. Almost like winter. Added intake pipe rework on my to do list. Going to have to get a lot warmer and about a foot of snow to melt off roof before that will happen. Furnace is currently using inside house air for combustion. A little noisy but works OK.
When it warms up a little today will work on assembly of chipper. No rush to get it completed. Surprised that hydraulic oil is only rated for use down to 30 degrees. Plus WoodMaxx recommend that it's best not to chip in temperatures below freezing. Too hard on the chipper blades. Must be a CYA note in case one breaks.
Need clean walkways of 1" of snow that fell last night.
Randy, glad your meeting went well.
Buckeye, keep on resting and getting good doctor reports.
Riptides and others, prayers sent.
Good Morning All.

Was 11 earlier now "warmed" up to 18 and we'll get a heat wave of 36.

Randy, I'm happy for you...visiting an old friend AND eating catfish!

Wife took her folks home yesterday, should be coming home today. Now our house is just Coco and me, and a few ladybugs that seem to have snuck in to stay warm.

Don't give me a hard time, but I have an espresso machine. I hadn't made a mocha latte in a while, so I steamed some milk, added in some chocolate and a double shot of espresso. Drank it up. Then used the same milk to make a bowl of cereal...almost gagged on the first bite, the milk was so sour...well past its expiration date. Just goes to show how coffee can make anything right. Having regular coffee now, black.

Pumped up the tires on the mower and took it down the hill to the creek bottom yesterday. Surprisingly still soft ground in a few places even though never got above 24 degrees all day. Got the mowing finished and was dusty and frozen by the time I was done. I'll take the string trimmer down today and touch up a few places.

There is something about a freshly refinished hardwood floor that really captures my eye. They refinished the basketball gym floor at the YMCA where I go over the Christmas holiday...just beautiful.

Do you count the rings on the ends of some of the firewood you cut? I sometimes enjoy "aging" the trees and thinking about what the woods looked like and what else was going on at that time.

Farmer, I read yesterday that chickens raised now average over 6 pounds, but only about 2.5 pounds each back in 1930...quite an increase in production. Thanks for raising them.

Good Morning All.

In cold weather metal can become brittle but I would have thought colder than that

Good morning! 39˚ heading to 50˚ this afternoon I need to drain my outbuildings water system and get ready for the new year's day record freeze.

It sure was nice getting on the cab-less tractor again yesterday and smooth out the washboard road coming up to the house and smoothing out my sand catchment.

The birds do like the cedar berries and most fence lines are lined with the trees from their droppings.

Everybody get well and enjoy old friends.

Roy - pickle juice!

Ron 30˚ - you must have bought a Texas Chipper. I probably would not be able to use it only 15 days a year.

Well today's high was 12 which gave me a case of no ambition. Not a cold weather person. Even the dogs who are happy to run out the door seemed happy to do what they needed to and run back in the house.
Buckeye seems like a good report from Dr.
Toppop looks like you had a good day old friends are most often the best friends
Hope everyone's heat is working and staying warm.
Need to take one more trip outside with the dogs then think about calling it a night. Need to be out and about early tomorrow need to take wife to her first cardiologist appointment, 3 weeks ago spent a night in the Emergency Room with her irregular heartbeat with some chest pain.

I’m glad your wife is willing, it’s bad when you know they need to see the doctor and won’t go.

Yes, I know. When I was having my HA I could not wrap my mind around what was happening until about two days after placement of the emergency stent.

I don’t know who started the pickle juice deal but my grandfather and uncle were using it to chase moonshine in the 30’s.

Buppies, I think the problem is the wood freezing more so than the chipper blades. At least that’s what the rental place says.

Started at 9 last night at bedtime, up to 15 this morning. High Monday predicted 15-19. Too #@€m cold!

-18 degrees right now...high about 5.

No real plans...got my chores done yesterday. Might head out and get a haircut though. I haven't got a heck of a lot of hair, but enough left to need a trim.

In my memory which is getting really bad splitting wood by maul it was easier to bust if it was frozen but the late 90s were the last time we burned wood so I may just be crazy

Met Joyce for lunch, had a great visit and terrific catfish platter. Worth the 6 hour round trip. It was like we’d been in touch regularly instead of 47 years since we last met in person. But we have been friends since first grade, which was 59 years ago. We are going to try to get together every 4-5 weeks. It was great therapy for me.

Glad it came together for you Randy. :)

10°

Got to bed (couch) late. Was watching football.

Wife and boys going to her parents for a few days, so will be home alone.

We jokingly call Dr Pepper pickle juice. When the boys were small, someone at chick fil a jokingly told them it was pickle juice, and i keep calling it that since.

I see some posts have the tractotbynet note at the bottom again, lets see what this does.

Read the online manual. It has no reference to what temperatures to operate other than oil specification. Their numbers are not inline with manufactures spec. I must have a older manual. I see a couple other page references have been corrected in online manual. I will follow cold weather operation the same as using tractor.

24 this morning and headed to 35 today. Only one more day above freezing till next Saturday. Which is fine we needed a deep freeze. Just hope roads don’t fall apart when it thaws.

Need to drain some extra garden hoses today. Just Incase I have problems watering cattle I have backups. Main herd has a heated tank fed by a heated garden hose. It’s ribeye that needs water ran every couple of days. A little snow would be nice but none in forecast.

Chickens are staying warm. Had to change up some ventilation but now are doing a better job of heating barns with body heat. More air in shorter bursts. Gives more recovery time. Winter ventilation is a challenge. Summer is easy. Well when everything works.

Birds we raise are now over a 6 pound average in 46 days. Amazing what climate controlled conditions, animal nutrition, animal breeding and technology are capable of. Thanks.

About to decide cattle are easier than chickens.
Tractors can be cabbed, so 95%+ of work is in the warm.
No power ventilation needed.
Cows don’t care what temperature is. Just keep food in front of them and they’ll do fine. Minus new born calves.

Everyone stay warm and safe.
