One on my back wasn't so lucky, melanoma and took out a pack of cards size hunk of my back. Lots of stitches.
That's the alternative to what she had, a dim consolation.
And Farmer, you can tell her that thousands of men around the world want her to feel better soon. That should be therapeutic. :thumbsup:
It's going to itch pretty bad in a few days....

Roy, it's never good to see I'm colder than you at this time of year. Temperature dropped here this morning to -8C/17F and staying freezing all day.

No doubt...but I'll wager you were not more surprised then I was when Texas got snow and we got flurries a few days back!

I went out toward work about an hour ago...further south I went, the worse it got so I turned around at the exit 10 miles south of Bethel (Sharon, VT). I'll either try again when it's light, or work from home since I'm on my company laptop right now. I never used to mind (much) about driving in the snow...but as I get older (I'll be 68 in two weeks), the more shy I am about driving in snow...guess I'm not a "Real Vermonter"!

Any tips or advice for buying one. Wife is wanting one for Christmas. Size? Location? Pricing?

I know it’s been answered and I should have paid attention.

I agree with Don, the 6 qt. Instant Pot is a nice size. We got ours on Amazon about 18 months ago.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 19° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 20° with north winds 20 to 30 mph. Need to plow about 6" of snow. I am ready. New ski mask, new googles, new mittens, and new snow boots. No new Carhartt parka and insulated bib overalls they last forever. Need to get it done before speech therapist gets hear at 8:30.
Wife had a good time yesterday. Visit with my Aunt and early dinner out. She thanks all for the Birthday wishes.
RNG, I thought that you may be using the old Street Pilots when you mentioned buttons. The 2620 was a problem because it had a hard drive and did not like cold. The 2820 worked well in all weather. But screen was to small. All 3 that I have today are 5" screen. Easier to read.

Here's a late birthday wish for Ron's wife, and early ones for farmer and Roy.

Did some lopping yesterday, and some chain saw sharpening. Need to cut some of my logs when I get home from the gym and haircut...been burning quite a bit, and only gonna get colder tonight. Tomorrow's high temp will be colder than last night's low.

Oh what a difference a year makes, right Ron? That brief snow on your motorhome down by the Rio Grand would have melted long ago...
That ski mask is the key, feels weird but sure keeps you warm in those winds. Must be drifting going on with six inches and 20+mph winds.

Growing up in the country with almost no other cars on the road after a snow, I learned on a 1964 VW Bug with studded snow tires.
It was my father's get to the train station no matter what car. Originally my oldest brother's car he bought at college, so that car got passed around the family
a lot until a deer wrecked it by leaping off a field bank right into the road/roof of this little car, caving it all in, and just missing my sister's head. Not a good day for either
the deer or my sister. Now she drives only Volvos...

What a feeling of unstoppability, until I got too much snow up underneath. Easy to dig out though. I went everywhere in that little car that reminds me now
of my Gravely garden tractor, with the motor out back right over the drive wheels.

So I grew up without fear of driving in snow. And when you become a fireman you sure have to go no matter what. Which is why most firemen drive 4x4 trucks, though a Subaru or Audi would usually do fine. I've driven fire trucks through a foot of unplowed snow, quite an experience praying you won't slide off the road or that you won't run out of grip going up the long steep hill.
A pumper tanker truck doing the shimmy on slippery roads is right up there on the pucker meter though. Most importantly, the rig has to get to the emergency or you can't help so first priority is getting there, second is speed. Of course, if it was a working fire, you always went a little faster.

We need some pics of folks sledding and on a toboggan. memories of pulling long lines of sledders back up the big hill in town with my snowmobile. Now that was fun. Kids squealing in delight as they flew down the hill, particularly in the saucers going round and round and screeching in delight. More, More! Oh to be a kid again.
