Good morning!!!!

Good morning. The phones were silent yesterday. Filled up my truck with gas the second time this week from driving all the county roads and the golf cart has been recharged 4 times from driving the perimeter trail. Still trying to stay positive, but as each day passes . . .

A cool front blew in this morning and temp is dropping 59˚ getting to 38˚ tonight.
I bought a bale of alfalfa hay to cover the potatoes. the plants are about 6" high now and they might be ready to pull a few weeks before Christmas if I can keep the frost off. This is the first time I've tried Fall potatoes so I'm not expecting a lot of success.

Dry North winds will be at 20mph so I hope no-one tries to burn today.

Not sure why we use straw for insulting protecting plants up north here. But alfalfa is a good way to bring deer and other animals that like grass for food in.

44F and mostly cloudy @ 08:00, should be relatively warm today (65F) ... before the bottom drops out tomorrow with a high of only 46F.

Worked on cleaning up some in front and in back of the house yesterday, so the septic guys would have a clear shot. Moved the 65G sprayer tank up to the shop as getting the sprayer upgraded is one of the projects I want to get done this winter.

Also pulled two of the lids on the septic tanks, but didn't get the second lid (inspection port) on the first tank pulled (need a shovel) From the looks of the first chamber I'm going to say that we're probably going to be dodging a bullet and just miss having problems with it backing up into the house. Thirteen years worth of crap ... Second tank appeared to fine from what I could tell. Will probably have them pump both tanks though ... unless the guy says otherwise.

Also took some marking paint up to the wood yard and marked off the dozen or so logs that need to be bucked.

This past Tuesday we did not get the garbage cans taken out to the road for pick up. Saw a large blue truck come part way down the driveway ... might have been the garbage guys as some of their vehicles are blue. Looks like whoever it was managed to drive over the area I smoothed out for wood storage and created some large ruts ... so I'll have to grade and compact that again.

More leaves down ... but still plenty more left to fall (50% ?) Probably should try and get those picked up today ... even though it won't be all of them. Seems like it's been hard to catch a break these last few years in terms of getting some dry weather to get the last of the leaves picked up.

Not looking forward to the cold weather at all.

I never used alfalfa because any hay with seeds in it would result in what looked like "grass" growing in the garden later. But I sure used a lot of wheat and oat straw in my garden, not so much to protect plants from the cold, but around the plants to hold moisture in and keep the weeds down.

Eric,

Congrats on the new addition.

Ed,

Prayers on your MIL situation. We had one as well - fortunately she was not abusive, just very manipulative.

Don,

Still hoping for Whipper's safe return.

thanks. They add just a little squish underneath, maybe cut vibration down a tiny bit.
And from you that's a compliment because I was thinking of you while I was cutting them thinking
I bet Randy could do this a lot better than I am and has better scissors. Luckily it cut pretty easily.
At first I thought it was too thin but in application glad it wasn't any thicker.

Ingersoll or Quincy?

Im not limiting my search to any brand.
Ice on the cars and roof this morning, not too much frost on the ground even though it was hovering around freezing. 68 later they say, and Drew痴 big rain headed our way. Building people called and wanted pictures of the site, they seemed happy, I値l bet they get some winners though.

Drew, the bed liner is excellent for that, I have an old Massey Ferguson trailer done in bed line4 10 years ago and not a chip on it.

Don, I’m still hoping for Whipper to get home.

Good Morning!!!! 0% Precip. / 0.00 in. Sunny. High 82F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Riding buddy was on his way home by 10AM yesterday, and I was able to get things unpacked and put away, and take a nice long nap. The new air mattress was much more comfortable in the tent during the trip, but the wind flapping the last night out meant neither of us got much sleep and I guess I needed some catching up.

Off to town for groceries and another mechanic visit today, nothing else planned...

TGIF!:drink:

Be safe
Have a great day

Praying Whipper comes home soon.. we had our indoor/outdoor cats disappear for a few days each.. the first one somehow got in the shop and was happy to see me when I went out to do something. I need to put a cat door in (another wish list project)... the second cat disappeared for day and half, no idea where he had gone.. living in the country has its advantages, but keeping outside cats around is not one.

Daughter went to wash up last night for bed around 9:30, let us know we had no water... still no water, pump guys are booked a couple weeks out. Slight chance it is control box (wife is picking up parts while she is in town picking grand daughter up from pre school). Pump is 17 years old, control box 24 years old... guess if we get it fixed now it should be good pretty much as long as we live here..

Anyone using schedule 80 PVC to hang pump on? We're about 200' deep with 1.5hp pump.

Got 7 oak logs bucked into rounds with the new (to me) 031 AV and moved over to the pile to be split. Saw runs good, wish it had the longer bar. The next bunch are big enough I'll need to use Zack's Husky with the 24" bar. Think there are around 5 or 6 of those. Think I'm going to order a real pickaroon for the splitting extravaganza.

The lady from the septic company just called to say they're running behind, but that the guy was on his way.

Head West young Steppenwolfe!
have a wonderful trip

Made good progress on the tractor. Back half had none of the paint problems of front half, this time using
oem paint. Shiny sticky red paint. A few small oversprays, some fisheyes, who knows what got on that tractor in 20 years. I rubbed it in cleaning alcohol, must not
have cut through something odd. Like teflon or something that is really hard to get off. If you can get paint to stick to teflon, I'm buying the next beer for all of you.

Got word today my Everything Attachments cultivator bar with assorted hillers and spikes will be coming next week. Even if I practice on the frozen collards next door, it will get me ready for the Spring. Next Spring, going to do a little farming. Got the orchards in, despite losing so many pecan trees, but I can only do one of these big all consuming projects a year. That nut orchard was and is a lot of work, and now I have to replant about ten pecans in the Spring. But not from the place I got them from last time. I'm heading out with truck and trailer and I'm going to find some pecans with leaves on them. That's an issue for crossing state line. I could get arrested. One of you would have to vouch for me. I'm in trouble. :D And honest fool that I am,
it's even premeditated interstate agricrime. No more shipping, I'm going to do my best to bring some home that I know with my own eyes are alive. Not dormant and possibly dead.
Been there done that.

It's really dumb, if you are buying this stuff, why can't they just spray it before you pick it up, just like I could spray it when I get home. But the latter is NG because the little infectious buggies have already lept into my orchards. They need to be sprayed first. Then I wouldn't have any moral qualms about my interstate agricrime.
Actually, if I rented a small enclosed Uhaul, and when I got home, opened the door and fogged the entire inside with my orchard sprayer, that would do it too.

I've never been in handcuffs. Not going to start now.

Drew, looks real good, should have known you would be ahead of me on the floorboards. Good luck on the pecans, does TBN Have a bail bonds man?

Have a great day. Ed

Didn't look at the temperature this morning, the high so far today has been 61*. Partly cloudy and 10-15 mph wind.

Got up early to go out and look for a elk. Seen a few deer but no elk. It's been dry for the last two weeks and not real cold, so don't think they have moved down from the high country. Talked to a game warden and he said that he hasn't checked very many. I still have tell the 14th of November to get one.

Steppenwolfe.
Are you going to take the tour of Coors brewery in Golden?. If you haven't been up to the top of Mt Evans you might like that. It's a 14,000 ft. Central City and Blackhawk have gambling. And the tourist town of Idaho Springs is kind of neat, it's also my home town. Let us know what you see.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

RNG, that was a neat bike trip. Only time i rode a small dirtbike on ice i fell over on a turn and messed up my elbow.

I road both street and dirt bikes for over thirty years, the only one I ever laid down was a 450 Honda on the grass in my front yard trying to beat a rainstorm Home. I was very lucky!
