45F and clear @ 07:30. High headed up to around 71F or so.

Made the run to the Depot yesterday and got Mike's 18 sheets of drywall and my sheathing and then headed in town to do the board up. Van sure rode nice with all that weight in it.

When the lawn guy called the other day to tell me he was done he said "I hate to have to tell you this, but they busted another front window and there's about an 18" hole in it."

When I got in there a day or so later, they had busted out two more for a total of four ...

These windows are almost 6' x 6' and 5/16" or 3/8" plate glass ... not safety ... so very dangerous when broken.

We broke out the remaining glass on two of them and boarded them up, didn't have enough sheathing to do all four. We'll go back in today and board up the other two.

After we got that done we headed back to Mike's and humped the drywall down into his basement. A real treat ...

After I got home, I worked on moving a dirt pile adjacent to the area I'm going to use for storing firewood. It's in shade most of the day this time of year and holds moisture so I figured I'd get it away from the wood and out of the way.

I'll be sure and take some pics and post them ...

62 degrees going for a high of 77 today, according to the NWS, with a 50% chance of the much needed rain after 7 a.m. I went outside with my coffee and the dog after 6 a.m. and could see lots of stars; looked at the radar on the NWS site; doesn't look too promising for the needed rain. But their forecast is for a 90% chance tomorrow night, so there's still hope.

Good Morning!!!! 46F @ 5:15AM. 10% Precip. / 0.00 in. Mostly Sunny. High 59F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Got a little less than a half inch of rain overnight, enough to settle the dust but not enough to end our fire season. We'll have cooler weather for the next several days, but will be close to 90F by Tuesday. I'm not ready to let go of summer just yet.

Learned yesterday that a recently completed 4,000 square foot home had burned to the ground a few miles southeast of here. Firefighters had saved it from the Cherokee Fire last week, but something got going in the attic and they didn't get there soon enough this time to save it again.

Got the flywheels bead blasted yesterday before tarping up the cabinet and filter and putting the open buckets of various blast media somewhere they wouldn't get wet. The Foredom unit came, so I rigged a hook over the welding table and tried it out on the aluminum rims of the old BMW. Started with white rouge, which worked but not well, but the little cotton buffs got in between the spokes, and I wasn't fighting a stiff hose like when using the die grinder. Much quieter, too. Used some Flitz on a rag to remove the rouge and that brought the shine up nicely, so decided to try Flitz directly on the buff and quickly abandoned the rouge step. I've got six wheels to do, and from the looks of things, they alone are enough to justify the cost of the Foredom. Otherwise it might have taken all winter to polish them all.

The BBQ acted up last time I used it, barely putting out enough heat to cook. Took the hose off the propane tank and didn't find anything obviously wrong with either it or the regulator, hooked it back up, and it was back to its old self. Celebrated with a nice thick pork loin chop for dinner, and it got so hot at the end I had to move the chop to a cooler spot to put out the fat fire.

No Diesel puddle under the truck yesterday morning when I looked, so finding that fuel leak might not be so easy. I'll spend some time poking around under the hood today, with fingers crossed.

Duluth Trading Co. is having a 20% off sale, so ordered up a pair of water resistant pants, which should be a little warmer on those long winter motorcycle rides coming up. Picked up a straw crusher hat, too, to maybe save my ears next summer in that hot sun I'm sure will be back.

Got a McMaster order off for the casters on the Foredom dolly, and a few stainless steel bolts for the old motorcycle. Also sent payment for the latest parts order to Germany after traipsing through previous transactions to figure out how much it should be. They'd issued refund credits for the wrong amounts as a shipping cost adjustment and there had been several back-and-forth exchanges on the parts list itself that resulted in a lot of confusion. Thankfully there was a trail of emails detailing the changes (and mistakes), but it sure took a while to weed through them all. Hopefully this is the last order.

TGIF gang!:drink:

Oh, NWS was out with their climate prediction for the winter. The way I read it, Northern California has a 0% chance of being above or below normal for either temperature or precipitation, but these days, what's normal? Then in the same release, they said there's a 60% chance of a weak La Nina, and hinted that could mean the same weather as last year. I'm sure the folks working on Oroville Dam weren't happy to hear that, as we had record rain last year.:confused2: With a prediction like that, they win no matter what happens!

... If Zack wasn't using the compression release, chances are he wasn't spinning the engine fast enough for it to put out enough electricity to make a spark. RTFM and everything'll be OK. ...
Unfortunately I get the impression that Zack isn't an RTFM kinda guy. May have a learning disability or something. Definitely ain't a computer guy.

Add to that, that he may not even have the manual (bought the saw used), and he's a yout, and it might be a little too much "barrier" for him to overcome.

I will text him the links to the manuals though. Maybe if he has them on his phone he'll read/use them.

The low this morning was 36*, yesterday's high was was in the in the high 60's. Today's going to be in the mid 60's with some clouds and 25-35 mph winds. It looks like they changed their minds about the snow showers.

Didn't get the wife's car back yesterday, have to make another trip to town today. Hope to help a neighbor get some holes dug for gate posts this afternoon and get them set.
Still working on why my black heater keeps burning out. Pick up a new timer and cord yesterday. Will look at the outlets today.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
