Good morning!!!!

Big plans for yesterday, but too hot so I stayed inside. I over did it Saturday morning and ended up resting the afternoon, then yesterday still not feeling 100%. Heat really takes it out of me.. We had our oldest daughter and grand daughter come for a weekend visit. Her husband stayed home with the two foster kids. It was fun seeing both grand daughters play (except when they wouldn't share) together.

I traded a Chromebook that I was not using to my son in law for pex crimping tools he was done with. Dripline is working well, need to keep it on every day until the fenceline bushes get watered deep. We only run it when we have some sprinklers going so the well pump does not cycle all the time.

Drew, hope you feel better after cooling down and having a steak.

Does anyone have any pros and cons for the transition lenses that darken when you go outside? Will they work while driving in my car, or do they need the sunlight directly on them to darken?

PJS, republic wireless uses Sprints network, but much cheaper if you are typically in a WiFi environment. You use wifi mostly, and you save.

Kyle, I've had some form of Transition type lenses since the late 70's-early 80's, wouldn't have anything else, but they will not darken behind tempered glass., they've never been a problem driving though, I guess most vehicles have enough tint to take the edge off. They do get very dark in cold weather and bright sun, a snow covered ground and sunny day can make them near black.

Wife and I started looking hard at alternative cell phone plans over the weekend. We'd gotten several recommendations from friends and family, but research showed poor coverage with most of them either in our area or in the areas she frequents for her business. Looked at Sprint yesterday, and they seem to be the most promising. Tired of getting raped every month by Verizon.

Have a productive week, gentlemen.
If you have Comcast/Xfinity you can get their Mobile system. Uses Verizon cell towers. But can have up to 5 lines for $.00. Just pay for phone and data. Data is $12 per GB or $45 for unlimited. I have been on it for 2 months with no problems.

Have you looked at the $20/mon Unlimited AT&T Mobley plan for data? Good sized thread here on TBN. My AT&T cell phone service pretty much sux, but the Data works better than my previous ISP.

Yeah, that thread caught my interest from the beginning. I had an AT&T cellular plan many years ago, and couldn't get rid of them fast enough. Rarely did a call over a minute not drop at some point. I was once standing in a parking lot in downtown St. Louis looking right up at the AT&T building ... and couldn't get even a single bar of signal (shaking my head). The Mobley thing does sound interesting, though.

Honestly, most of these problems go away once the boy it out of the house (Air Force, college, move in with his girlfriend, whatever he decides to do with his life). Neither the phone data nor the internet data issues popped up until he got his first smart phone.

Nope. Only satellite (or dial-up ... shudder) is available where we are. Sounds like a sweet deal, though.

Quality of service is going to depend mostly on where you are, at my house AT&T is about it, 2 miles away everything works. The deal might be these cheap old folks plans by the off brands, they use any and all towers.

No cons that I can think of for transitional lenses except they do not work in a vehicle. You will still have to also get prescription sunglasses for driving in Texas especially if your hood is white and you can see it.

I've used transition lenses for 20+ years now. They will not darken much in new cars that have glass with UV filters but then your eyes are already protected. If you use them, they need to be replaced every 3 years or so. As the lenses age, their transition time gets longer and longer.

Good evening all. Been a busy day today. Went and picked up almost 15 dozen ears of corn and got back home in time for a meeting that lasted until 3:30. Then went into the evening scedule. I tried to post yesterday and did not think I got through but must have. Going to pick up 3 bu of green beans in the morning.

Transition glasses are bad for working on anything outside, you can't see down into things because you are in the sun and trying to see in a shadow.

Have a great evening/night Ed

88 today. Much better than the end of last week. Humidity still high but rain showers are around.

Moved a bush hog for dad today. Had to load without a tractor. But was in a shed so we had overhead to lift with. Chain hoist and comalongs. Took an hour to put on trailer. Then back home and started bush hogging here. Vet coming tomorrow to preg check cows. Have to go get some vaccines and dewormer though.

Transition will darken some in the car, but mostly when the light hits them.

There isn't a none toll bridge over the Chesapeake. I get a detailed invoice of charges, I know where I went, so...
Rarely cross the bay, and then i pay cash. Course you only pay one direction, east bound i think.
My wife got one of those toll notices in the mail once. She didn't know she was on a toll road. The new toll lanes around here only do easy pass or they mail you the bill, no toll booths anymore. I hate them.

Good evening all. 74F this morning with .75 inch in the rain gauge, and partly cloudy sky. Warmed up to 94F. wind stayed moderate, and heat index barley crack 100F :). Enjoyed the "cool" during bike ride, mowed the back while golf course was closed, and tried out new neck cooler while mowing.

Kyle, have had Transition lens on both glass and plastic. Like how they work better on glass, but lens weight is an issue. Otherwise I would echo the same comments as the others. Used to keep a pair of clip on sun glasses in car.

Drew prayer for quick recovery. All you guys and you skin operations remind me to use sun screen prior to going outside, especially the neck and ears :)

74 outside this AM. Lawn mowing on tap for today. Trying to figure out an electric issue in the house this morning. Two gfci's dead on different circuits. Replaced one and that line still does not work. Pretty odd. Maybe ekectrian time. I don't have the equipment to check outlets and visual inspects of wires did not cut it.

A heavy dew this morning with scarcely a breath of wind this morning. Don't think we will be sat outside much today as there may be a few angry wasps around - my wife rang a pro to come and tackle the nest in the roof by our bedroom window.

Kyle, I used to work with a guy who had an open top MG midget sports car and he wore transition lenses all day long. He told me they were great, except for being slow to return to clear when driving into deep shade. He drove everywhere at crazy speeds, so to him that probably just added to the thrill

Drinking first cup of coffee. 48° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 81° with sunny skies. Got rubber patio blocks installed yesterday. Little sore today from all the up and down while fitting outer edge pieces. Today going to put shelves up. Then clean up area before starting to put everything back in bin.
Drew, get better soon.
Good Morning All.

78 going up to 90 today, then surprisingly it cools off a bit, nice to have it get below 70 at night, give the a/c a break.
Headed off early to next town over to see surgeon who operated on my thyroid, still quite a lump there, was told by another friend it will be as much
as six months before I get my voice back.

ok, quick report on last night's steak. Very tender, salty, rubbed with something, and came in well done when I ordered medium. My friend's came in medium well when she ordered medium rare. We almost sent them back but didn't. Best part of meal honestly was salad bar, and it was good, but not great; I just wanted a big salad.
They made a big deal in the beginning about how the chef would come out and talk to us. Well....after I pleasantly showed the waiter the overcooked meat, and he offered to do absolutely nothing, just sort of agreed with me it was cooked too much, sure never saw the chef after that....

Let's see, house wine, fine, steak good if salty, side dishes few and uninteresting (they really don't cook anything here, they just broil and reheat), salad bar fine, three choices of frozen desserts, all standard and served in every chain restaurant like this, everything here is frozen, portion controlled and possibly even pre-seasoned.
So no surprises, enjoyed the meal but won't go back. The country club I used to belong to here had the same steaks, same salty rubbed flavor, and all they knew how to do was reheat also.
Food services much be doing quite well providing all those portion controlled frozen steaks.

If the restaurant would do something, anything, to add value to a frozen hockey puck, something to add a unique flavor, I'm fine with frozen.
But if all you know how to do is reheat, then one is barely a cook and for sure not a chef.
And if you are a steak house and you cook the steaks way too much, first thing you do is offer to cook another. That option was apparently not on the menu.
What was on the menu was nice staff, every one thanked me for coming including the dishwasher outside coming back from a smoke.
They sure got that part right. New restaurant, they have to get the kinks out.

Have roadside mowing to do today, thankfully in a/c, and if the weather cooperates, I need to spray for caterpillars after the sun goes down.
