Good morning!!!!

56 cloudy this morning high of 67 today chance of afternoon storms

Fell asleep in chair (so what's new) last night awoke to banging sounds. Sounds like coming from bedroom nothing there sit back down more banging look out on front porch face to face with 200 pound plus black bear Turing over big flower pots and into Rubbermaid box with bird feeder in it and he will not leave. After cutting on lights and ceiling fans the bear departs. Finally got toned at 2:00AM enough excitement for one night

That's quite the adventure. Same thing happened here last night, except it was a 20 lb raccoon getting into the bird seed can. I'll take the 'coons over the bears any day.

60 and rain, heading to 76 and rain.

Beautiful plum!

The phoebes fledged yesterday from their nest under the shelter. I wish mama phoebe had checked the weather...poor things spent their first night out from the nest in a pretty windy rainy world.

Don, we had a beautiful rainbow east of us and then a beautiful sunset. But mostly I am thankful that my family is safe and the new roof held. My daughter was looking out the window and saw lightning strike multiple times at the same structure across the road.

Saw that same rainbow, it was a double for a short time. Down Hwy. 21 near Mannheim the trees are stripped of their leaves and there was a lot of hail damage to structures. My cousins had window damage and Austin news interview the people with Hail damage in that area. It just missed me but the tree damage was all the way to Butler.

63˚ clear skies.

Good Morning!!!! 56F @ 4:30AM. Sunny. High 73F. Winds SSW at 10 to 15 mph.

The Davis weather station went out again yesterday, so I rechecked the channel settings and found it had been left in "test" mode. Either I missed the instruction to move the dip switch or it was never given, but either way reading the friendly manual seems to have set the situation straight. I still think it's a temperature related problem in the sensor package, but won't know until it gets back into the 90s over the weekend.

Maybe Drew could lend you his bear cam so we could see what you're up against, Buppies?

The power mirrors that came on the van have never been connected, the wires that control them being cut off at the bases. I found the switch and ordered a connector for it, so yesterday I tracked down a schematic and figured out what other connectors were needed to complete the installation. Also found a place where I could order the correct blue-with-black-stripe primary wire for a piece of wiring harness I'll also need to make up and got that on order.

Meanwhile the cool and breezy temps felt great, enough that dinner on the patio watching the sun set seemed to be the thing to do. Lots of birds up in the air for company: Buzzards, barn swallows, hummingbirds, and many honking Canadian geese. A large flock of them circled repeatedly, first down low in the canyon, then buzzing the house at eye level about forty feet away (that was quite a site), then higher up, only to break into smaller groups and do the whole thing over, each on their own path in their own time. Perhaps they're exercising in preparation for the next leg of their journey north, but they picked a fine evening to be up, up, and away!

55°F and partly cloudy skies this morning, going up to 75° today. Some beautiful days ahead of us for the weekend, or so they say now.

This is Memorial Day weekend here in the US, and by my assessment during my morning walk through the shop this morning, it has mentally already begun for many people. I know I'm looking forward to the three day weekend.

Glad we don't have bears to deal with here (or gators, for that matter). We keep the bird seed container inside the back door to discourage 'coon incursions.

Monday-Tuesday in low 80s, yesterday cooler, today chance of rain and windy.

Fixed the water leak (may make changes later). The 1 1/4" galvanized steel pipe from pitless adapter to check valve had a hole. I thought I had a piece of pipe that I could cut to length and thread. Turns out I had 1 1/2" instead so off to town. Cut to exact length and threaded, I had to cut threads a bit deeper, but not much. Now we can get on with flushing the water system, have to dig up a couple hydrants and unplug one, repair another..

Glad we don't have bears here (at least not at the house), had raccoons and porcupines in the past...

My yard dog will take care of coon incursions.
