Don your folks continuing to improve?

Mom is slowly, very slowly improving most days but she is sad for Dad. Dad is fighting pneumonia and other things. Like Eric, somber mood.

64˚ clear skies, nice weather.

67 going up to only 73 and the rains are finally starting. Nothing yesterday or last night, went around us, but look at the national radar, there's a lot of water out there coming North.

have to go to the primary doc this morning and three more mornings to get my BP checked. A real nuisance but neither I nor the Doc trust the home BP machine I have. I've always had low pulse and low BP, now my BP is climbing for some unknown reason, probably just getting older...two of my friends take BP medicine and I sure want to avoid that, since I take too much other stuff already. I sometimes wonder if I should stop taking all the pills.
All a man needs is prunes. ;)

I swear by apples. ...and I would think all of those fresh peas should help.

cajun, sorry you hit an IED. Think in another five years you car will probably be required to slam on the brakes as it autodetects "something" in the road and you then get rearended by the bozo tail gating you with an older car
while texting.

rains coming in, much hotter here than expected, nothing showed up earlier. Just finished picking a colander of snap peas, brought them in, washed them off, put them right in the steamer and within fifteen minutes of picking i was eating. Yum. Sweet, good fiber, low calories, all good. Time to market minimal...

I hooked up the old Cub Cadet to the water wagon and I watered for hours today. If anything will make it rain, that will. They did a great job tuning up the old Kohler and it ran very smoothly. With new points it starts just fine.

That already happened to my daughter. He Isuzu Outback Eyesight detected a big truck on the road and slowed down to keep a safe distance. The guy behind her rear ended her. The only difference was that he was just following too close and wasn't texting.

Still cloudy and rainy today. I think the rain washed away most of the centipede grass seeds I just planted in my yard. On the plus side, I'm starting to harvest little cherry tomatoes that sprung up in the pot from seeds of tomatoes that dropped to the ground last year. I did nothing to the pot except for dropping in a spoonful of Osmocote to encourage the seedlings. They were crowded and I didn't thin them out either. A couple of them won out naturally and are bearing a good bit.

My prayers are with the victims in England.

62 going to 67.

Been outside getting chores done before rain hits...radar shows it has been creeping very close, surrounding us, but no drops yet.

Eric, prayers for your family and those of the victims.

59°F and light rain this morning, going up to 73° today with rain off and on.

My natural reaction to events like this Manchester bombing seems these days to tend towards anger. I'm angry that this still happens so frequently. I'm angry that there are people in this world who believe blowing up young girls at a music concert somehow advances their agenda. I do feel bad for those who were directly affected by this cowardly act, as well as those who will, for whatever reason, try to find a way to shift the blame to the victims or the artist.

Just angry today, mostly. My mug of hot Twinings English Breakfast tea doesn't seem to be helping.

Good Morning!!!! 75F @ 5:30AM. Abundant sunshine. High 96F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Fired up the A/C in the house yesterday for only the second time this year. Last week it was winter, with both highs and lows in the 50s, now it's mid to high 90s during the day and only cooling off down to the 70s at night. Whatever happened to spring?

Yesterday was full of sadness here as well, Eric, when I learned of the passing of Nicky Hayden, an American motorcycle racer that won the world championship in road racing back in '06. He was struck by a car a few days ago while out training on a bicycle, and never recovered from his head injury. Not only was he fast, he was kind, very friendly with fans, with a strong work ethic, a great ambassador for America in times when such people are getting harder to find. He will be missed.

Acts like those in Manchester only breed more hate, and against the cause for which they were committed. What kind of twisted reasoning leads to such acts? Understanding that is key to stopping the violence, but that may be an impossible task.

My mother's boyfriend stopped his meds, Drew. That's probably what led to his stroke, but the dementia is is why he stopped the meds. In the end he got what he wanted, as it was not a life worth living.

Off to start painting before it gets too hot. Siesta weather now, so a nap this afternoon during the heat of the day is probably in the offing.

And speaking of heat, is a Weber propane BBQ really so good they're worth two grand?:confused2::eek:

I grew up in a place where we were suspicious of every thing. A car, motorbike, bicycle, package, box, anything that is out of place is avoided. We constantly looked over our shoulders, looked at everyone else with caution. We were ready to drop and roll for safety behind structures that can serve as barrier. Even in schools we didn't play within grenade lobbing distance from the wall.

If we don't find a good balance between respecting privacy, equal justice, and public safety, we will wind up having none of them.

Almost forgot to mention that the Davis Instruments folks helped me get the weather station working again yesterday. The nice gal on the line had me put it into diagnostic mode, and she found another weather station signal was causing interference. It's a long way to anywhere that one could be located, but then I remembered the old Davis VantageVue that quit working, but I can't remember if I put it away somewhere or threw it out. Regardless, she walked me through changing the radio frequency of the new station, and now it seems to be working fine...
