Actually, tornadoes are slightly less numerous than in past years, but reporting, Doppler radar and higher population result in more public reports.

Drew, are you going to tell us when you get lucky?
Why do you think his back is sore? :D

Drew, not in the fireplace, if the top of the chimney collapses, guess where some of those bricks are going to land.

Pretty day here, low humidity, and low 80's.

The problem with many storm shelters is that they are "too far" from the house. People try to get in them when it already impossible. Effective storm shelter should be inside the house or only few steps away or you need reliable warning system.

83.7F and sunny ... high is supposed be up around 90F or so. 88F tomorrow with a chance of thunderstorm, then a cool down for a couple of days to the mid-70's for highs.

Got two more lower panels fitted and tacked on the soil screen frame yesterday. Almost have the third one fitted.

Also got about half of the bucking done on the large red oak logs ... need to go finish that before it gets any hotter outside.

Will probably spend the rest of the day inside.

Good afternoon,

We had a mini tornado this weekend, in the shape of our grandson, who came to stay for a couple of nights. Have just been out to return him to his parents. Met them half way, roads were busy with cyclists, on the second leg of a triathlon after they had swam a lake. We had a lot of fun this weekend but looked almost as tired as the cyclists. Dog now catching up on his sleep. I wish I could nap too, but have arranged to take out a couple of bales of hay for a neighbor. Was intending to go top the grass and weeds afterwards, although a little nap may get assigned a higher priority.

Farmer, that 1,000 litre will hopefully last me the rest of this year.

Don, are those gaillardia flowers?
Very good, yes they are:
Gaillardia pulchella, is a North American species of short-lived perennial or annual flowering plants in the sunflower family.

Eric's grandson.

Good morning! 94˚ at 11am - Summer has set in.
A big hawk flew off my driveway inside my yard yesterday. I went to see what he had and it was a full grown possum (dead). I put my cat, gray 2, inside for the rest of the night.

I figure the best place during a tornado is under my BH.

it is finally dry enough to work on my spillway. 4 feet of sand 100 yards long, 10-30 yards wide washed away. The ground was nice and level and mowable, (for the past 20 years) like where my utility vehicle is sitting, before the spring floods. (the pic shows about half of the damage)

Got all the big logs cut up ... at least as far as I could cut them without having the tractor to roll them around and get the bottoms.

Some of them cut all the way through, others probably not ... didn't want to stick the chain in the dirt. Hopefully they'll just crack off when moved, if not I can probably cut them through the rest of the way with a pruning saw ... or mebbe get Cupcake to (wo)man the other side of the 5' cross-cut saw I have ...

Was not a particularly fun task, given the temp is now up around 88F and around 63% humidity (feels like 95F heat index) ... but some high, thin clouds made it a little more bearable.

Weather critter says we could have afternoon thunderstorms.

David, sorry to hear about Pele. We have a boxer girl that is 8 years old. I am thinking about getting a puppy, so she can train it. I have been busy working on my sister's place, my wife's shop, and our rental. Today, it was change the oil and filter in the generator, change the water filter, and the furnace filter. I need to work on my old beater chevy truck, the rear tail gate latch needs work. I am also working on my AC system at home. I can get it to work, but only by turning it off and on with the circuit breaker, I wired the contactor shut. Either the contactor is bad, or the thermostat, the cable, or the controller board is bad. The fan motor, compressor, and capacitor work, as I can get cold air. It's getting warm, and humid here, and the big unit ( wife ) does not like it when the air is out....:(

Got the air on, it's cooling off, the big unit will be home in a hour or so. Not gonna do much outside now, too hot, and it might storm. Have a good one!
