Good morning all. 56 now and going to 81. Not sure what I am going to do today but I am sure it will be something. Missed the milling machine yesterday but the good side is I don't have to move it. :D

Eric You are very right about the Killer cars, They are almost everywhere, and very nasty to deal with.

72 this morning and headed to 90 today.

Well I gave up the WH install at midnight. The old is out, the new is in and the wet drywall is replaced and spray foamed. Although I think this is why it took so long to find it. The spray foam was holding the water. Until it got too deep. I won't go into why I hate double wides but that is one tight and badly located hole for a WH. No shutoff valves to WH so whole house was shut down. I glued on a shut off before going to bed last night so we have cold water today. The piping locations for the new WH are on top. The old was on the side. I didn't buy enough new CPVC to finish the install. Oh and the wire is too short also. So back to store today and get what I need to finish. Wife's still in good humor. She just said "That's your luck".

So it's a install the other shut off valve and plumb and wire in WH today. Then go rake hay for dad. It's the last of the spring cutting. Oh and sometime in there it's our anniversary so I have to take the wife out. Been married 11 years today.

Kyle. Sounds like a nice Father's Day present.

congratulations Farmer.

pick of the day, end of the beans, beginning of the cukes and tomatoes.
a few baby sweet red peppers for color; they look like they'd be good pickled.

Don, I've been up since only 6:45 mowing pastures. Just got off the tractor. 4.5 hours Maybe 10 acres.

Thanks all, I hope that we can all give the Lord the glory, and that the kids understand and have fun. I hope all of y'all have a wonderful Father's Day in what ever way you want to spend it.

I just killed a scorpion just before I walked in here, and let a silver dollar sized wolf spider go. Last week I killed a parent scorpion that had a dozen or so babies on it's back. Smushed them all in one giant leaping step for countrykind.

Farmer, I mainly like my double wide when the property taxes are due. I don't envy you for having to do all the WH repairs. Mine was easy to get to, and there was enough space for a larger one (which we need) but they didn't put in a big enough gage wire to run a bigger one. Doah!

Buckeye, I love youtube for appliance repairs. I would guess only little old ladies are the only one's calling the maytag man these days.

Ed, my daughter has the patience to fish a slow worm and she has caught some large bass. I think our pond record is 8lb bass.

Eric, there used to be an Austin based band called the Killer Bees.

84.4F and very sunny with low humidity thankfully ... headed up to a high of 89F.

Started off yesterday by putting up the bluebird house I had taken down a while back to clean. After that I got the weeds pulled out of one clump of the pampas grass that we transplanted last year. Then gassed the newly hatched house sparrows in the other bluebird house and took it down for cleaning. Got to do that today and get it back up.

After that I ran to HF and picked up a 10 pack of 4 1/2" cut-off discs, then hit ACE for birdseed and a couple of suet cakes. Later in the afternoon I ran by Valley and picked up another cylinder of gas so I wouldn't run out this weekend.

Late afternoon Pine Ridge came by and I welded a couple of brackets onto the vise he uses to build his stills. Might build him a landscape rake.

Set the live trap last night ... but no coon (or anything else) this morning.

Since the wind had really died off I had another bonfire last night ... got a lot of brush burned. Around 01:30 or 02:00 the fire had really died down and I was sitting on the tractor pretty much in a direct line with the driveway with my back facing it and got lit up by a pair of headlights. Someone was coming down the road ... and evidently they didn't notice me sitting on the tractor. I hopped off about the time when they got to the property line and they ended up hurriedly turning into the drive that goes up to the gas well and turned around and headed back out.

Dunno who it was but it was a pickup truck with very distinctive rear lights. Assuming it wasn't someone "official", they had no business whatsoever being on my property ... particularly at that time of night.

Today I need to move some large logs that the neighbor kid dropped off yesterday morning ... looks like maple and oak. Probably pretty well set for firewood for this coming winter. The berries on the early blueberry bush are getting ripe ... so those need picked. Probably see about gathering up more brush for a bonfire tonight.

Good Afternoon Guys. 1730, partly cloudy, 88F with 58% humidity. Forecast high of 87F with 20% chance of rain today, and a low of 70F tonight. Three big thunderstorms this week have laid my 2nd planting of sweet corn over three different ways. So far the sun keeps pulling it back up straight. The 5 inches of rain has sanded all the young stuff though.

I've been wrapped up in the garden, and haven't been following the thread lately. This is a picking from one day this week.

But the reason I came over to post, was this video I saw just now. It got me to worrying about Farmer. Apparently his profession is pretty dangerous.

You guys take care,

Larro

   / Good morning!!!! #46,872
Very good Larro. I got a good laugh. I'm not worried. Good to see you back. Nice harvest. Too bad sweet corn is all I have planted.

Well WH install took a turn for the worst. I got to messing around with it and noticed #12 wire. Umm... Wrong wire. So I go check breaker box and a double pole 20 in there. Ummmm.... Who in the he11 wires a water heater at 20 amps. Go look old heater it's 3800 watts. So it's good by 40 watts. New is 4500 watts not good. Call my electrician just to double check. Won't hold it. Is his response. So now I'm looking at a rewire. Yelp. New breaker. New wire which is all kinds of fun. You guys should try it some time. Remember it's a Mobile Home. :). Finish plumbing it in and wire it in. Finally about 3pm we have hot water again. All I can say is it's a dam good thing a Clayton Homes rep wasn't standing here this morning. I'd have kicked his ***** all the way to the highway over that wiring fiasco. I mean they saved maybe $5. Maybe.

Good news is we have hot water again and hay is raked. But wife didn't get her anniversary dinner, but she said we'd take a night this week and go eat. She's a good sport. Not the first anniversary I've worked through and probably won't be the last.

I've never worked on a mobile home, but a local guy specializes in replacing HW's uses shark bite fittings. He replaces a heater in 30 minutes. The electrical is interesting.

We only had 5 junior youth and 4 younger siblings show up with parents to fish. Really, it was kind of a relief not to have too many on this first time.

We caught over 30 bass and 6 perch.

It was a great day.

I've got a sore back. Advil time.

Good morning all and nice to see you have been keeping busy on your extended garden Larro.

We have 2, maybe 3 dry hours for me to go cut down thistles on the steeper parts, then it's all going to get wet again for the next few days. Last time I was on that slope my wheel caught a hole, where badgers had been digging for worms, jolting me sideways and my elbow knocked the gear lever, losing engine braking. It took only a matter of seconds to get the wanabe runaway tractor back under control, but that sort of buttock muscle workout I can do without. This time I intend to keep the left seat arm rest down and go even slower.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 56° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 89° with mostly sunny skies. Feeling much better now that I am off the high powered pain medication. It's my Birthday and Fathers Day. Nobody's coming over. But the phone will not stop ringing all day. Some NASCAR in afternoon.
HAPPY FATHERS DAY.
Good Morning All.

My dad used to have us walk the fields with a hoe and chop thistles. If you cut them off just below the ground they won't come back. If I had a $ for every acre I have chopped thistles on......... Hate to think of it. Ed

49 right now...heading up to 90 later today.

Wife and I went looking for a new refrigerator and cook top at Home Depot yesterday. Just one cook top at the store and that had been a customer return. We found a really nice refrigerator, but it was a bit too tall for the area it would go. I'm thinking about removing two cabinets above the nook.
Mowed most of the lawn after the afternoon heat subsided and did some trimming.
I loaded some trimmings in the Gator bed and drove down to the field to dump them. A pretty good sized tree had fallen onto the mowed area of the field. I hadn't been down to the field in a couple weeks and have no idea when it toppled. Not too surprising as it was pretty rotten. I don't have a gas powered chain saw so I'm going to trim whatever branches I can and see if I can push it off the field. Not today though...going to hit 90 and I'm not good in that kind of heat.

Kyle . nice fishing.

Dad busted the tail light fixture on the L5030 on an apple tree limb. He got revenge by pushing the tree out since it wasn't oroducing anymore.

He got 300 squarebales from this 2 acre section in the orchard.

Happy Fathers Day.
