69 with another low 90s predicted. The dew has the grass wetter than it was after the rain.

Had a nice Fathers Day yesterday...my oldest son and wife cooked on their big green egg...squash and onions, kielbasa and kraut, and hamburgers. Sorry Larro, forgot the pictures for the Dinner thread. He lives about 20 miles east of here, and driving over there saw almost all farms planted in corn...unusual for around here...and some of the corn was already starting to tassel...never seen it this early.

73 out this AM. Upper 90's this week.

I got cleaned up from the gusher, when another one hit Saturday night. It was half as bad as the first one. Just under 2 inches of rain within an hour or so. The water moved a little better around the milk house, but the side door still let some in. The drains, although not clear did keep up. Now just dealing with the dank smell.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Stay cool this week and be safe.

64F, Plentiful sunshine once the sun comes up. High 93F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph. Very pleasant temperatures yesterday, and today we get more of the same. But by Wednesday it'll be into the hundreds again, 107 by Friday, flirting with the century mark for the next week. High 60s - low 70s overnight, so at least the house'll have a chance to cool off a bit.

RS, if you're gonna weld on those shafts, why not just weld up the keyways and have a machine shop recut them for you? Might cost a few bucks, but you'll be forever with a Dremmel trying to get something that in the end won't fit tightly anyway. Any slop in that key will quickly batter itself bigger, and you'll end up remaking those keyways a lot sooner than 15 years.

300, a couple years ago California changed things around so it was much easier to get probation than do time. Our neighborhood thief just keeps on stealing with impunity as a result. Worse, the legislature rigged it so that those that do serve a sentence get offloaded to the county jails which were never intended to deal with hard core criminals. The counties also don't have the money for jail upkeep and can't hire the needed number of guards. Unfortunately it's turned into a situation where crime does indeed pay, complete with occasional all expense paid vacations for those few lucky winners that manage to get caught, get sentenced, and get real time. Still, I guess it's better to know who the thief is, and be able to haul him in and search his premises every time something turns up missing.

Mostly - good luck with the shelving. That's usually the first job whenever I've had to move in the past. Without shelves, there's no where to put anything when all the boxes get unpacked!

Found out the pump on the sprayer draws 10 amps, and near as I can tell the alternator on the RTV should be putting out 50 amps. But that rating is probably at higher RPMs. When I'm going slow enough to get good spray coverage, that alternator's probably not turning very fast. Yesterday I opened up the flow on the sprayer so I could travel faster, and had no more charging issues. That worked fine out in the pasture, but down hill through the trees killed off the RPMs again. Fortunately I didn't have to do a lot of that. For now I think I'll just put it on a charger overnight when I'm spraying. Just to be safe, I'll pick up a set of brushes for the alternator next time I'm in town. At something like 3600 hours I'm sure they've never been changed, judging from the "expert care" the PO said he gave it. Ran out of glyphosate anyway: 5 gallons of 41% concentrate didn't go quite as far as I'd hoped.

Eric, who knows why people buy the things they do, let alone why they keep those things for so long. A fool and their money are soon parted, for arctic beer? Thanks, I'll stick with Newcastle. Good your pooch hasn't developed a taste for bird. Usta explore caves with a fellow who's dog liked bats. Chomped 'em then spit 'em out. What a mess...

Hope everything goes well at the dentist, Drew. Lots of folks think 30mg of Valium is fun, but feeling stupid isn't my idea of a good time. Probably easier on the dentist though.

Rip, hope everything dries out OK. That black mold is nothing to fool with.

Happy Monday everyone!

Morning all, high today of 82F, right now only 66F. Chance of rain tonight which could postpone the Windsor/Detroit fireworks.

64F and overcast. Mid-70's today with a small chance of rain.

We went out for supper yesterday and had fish & chips which was tasty. I have some tractor and garage puttering to do today.

75 this morning and headed to 93 today. Another hot one. May end up at doctor today or atleast this week. This sinus trouble is trying to move and it's not getting better. Boy is already on antibiotics for the same thing.

Have lots of bushhoging to get done the next few days. Then mowing and weedeating. Not going to help my sinuses. Along with keeping the chickens cool.

Drew enjoy the dentist. With that many meds it should be easy. Anyways good luck.

Getting tired of SMOKE! The fire down near LA has my area blanketed with smoke for the past 4 days. In the morning it's so thick it looks like overcast and visibility is down to a mile or 2. I've had to use the refrigerated AC instead of the swamp cooler due to the smell, which is unfortunate because the humidity is single digit and perfect for the cheaper operating swamp. It hit 117 a couple of days ago.

Hope they get it under control soon.

"Yep...crime...mostly due to the opiate invasion...is coming to New England.

Vermont Governor Schumlin thinks junkies need treatment...I say treat 'em like the criminals they are and a "cold turkey" treatment (in prison) is what they need."

I hear you Roy and agree,I'll stop there before I get rambling and might write something and get my hands spank. ;)

Good Morning. 1030, sunny, 90F {102F heat index} with 62% humidity. Forecast high of 94F with 20% chance of rain today, and a low of 77F tonight. It's messed around and got to be summertime around here. I just came in from the garden, and I couldn't have been any wetter if I had stood under the sprinklers. Still no rain for me. Where the sprinkler on the Armenian cucumbers wet the new rows of peas I planted last week, they have all come up. The rest of the patch, nothing. I laid down soaker hoses on the rows as far as they would go. I guess I will have to run sprinklers to the rest. I hate to do it because of grass and weeds, but if it doesn't rain, they won't be coming up otherwise.

I had to look up Armenian cucumbers Larro, they sound pretty good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmzTreayWVY

pick 'em small...
of course give me a garlic dill gherkin any day
Summer is a good time to eat them, get some salt back when one is sweating heavily and does not normally eat much salt.
My garden is pitiful, half dead from drowning a second time. Next year it will be totally redone in a raised bed with irrigation.
This year I've gotten three tomatoes the size of cue balls and equally resilient. Oh well, I wasn't going to put one in this year so at least I learned some valuable lessons for when I get a little more serious. Some of my neighbors have beautiful home gardens, tilled to perfection, I need to get myself invited over there and find out what they are doing so well.

My potato plants have already croaked and look like they are ready for picking but it's too early. Just going to bide my time until I get too curious and dig one up.

97 degrees out. Summer time.

Power is out here, the utility estimates a couple of hours before we are back online. We had a storm pass thru, and it tore up a small town about an hour west of us, Portland. We were spared that, but more storms coming thru tonight!
