Summer is a good time to eat them, get some salt back when one is sweating heavily and does not normally eat much salt.
My garden is pitiful, half dead from drowning a second time. Next year it will be totally redone in a raised bed with irrigation.
This year I've gotten three tomatoes the size of cue balls and equally resilient. Oh well, I wasn't going to put one in this year so at least I learned some valuable lessons for when I get a little more serious. Some of my neighbors have beautiful home gardens, tilled to perfection, I need to get myself invited over there and find out what they are doing so well.
My potato plants have already croaked and look like they are ready for picking but it's too early. Just going to bide my time until I get too curious and dig one up.
