Last month very very little rain this month so far might have to pump the garden...soggy ground.

Enjoy the day all.

57 out. Suppose to be hazy, hot and humid for the next few.

Need to get the fields cut. Other than that, nothing on the agenda. A clean slate, well no projects anyway. Wow....

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning! Clear skies 71˚ - going to be one of the hottest days of spring. I re-planted the drowned water mellon patch and started watering the new plants again. Siesta season is here - working only in the mornings and evenings. Most of my time this week has been spent at the hospital, he's out, doing better but still - something is going on with my Dad, I woke up suddenly at 5:49 yesterday morning with a possible cause - back to the Dr. to run my theory by him. It's a one in 10,000 shot its the cause - but, someone has to be the 1.

65 this morning and headed to 94 today. It's a hot one, but good hay drying weather. Need to move baler from dads. Wife has several tons of pea gravel to spread still. Her bucket load everyday has turned into every other day. Looks like I'm going to end up spreading it. Have a couple of trees to cut off my fences so maybe that will happen today.

Don hope you figure out what is wrong with your dad.

Nice, sunny morning with a breeze. Around 80F and dry today.

TXDon Good luck with your Dad's medical issue.

Eric That sounds about the same for the wool market around here. We have a small but dedicated group of people in Maine who are active in fiber arts. Some of them raise a few sheep more for the color of the fleece than anything else.

70F currently. Rain showers early with scattered thunderstorms arriving for the afternoon. High 79F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

Nice break from a string of 100F plus days, but it's headed back up tomorrow through the weekend.

Don, hope they figure out what's going on with your dad.

Eric, the sheep sound like a labor of love...

RS, pics of the receiver welding, please. Got one to do here, too.

Drew, you're not alone in your quest for more professional trades people. Seems like the ones that do call back aren't busy for a reason...

More paperwork on the agenda for today.

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Evidently the Wood Fairy paid me a visit sometime during the day ... probably twice from the looks of it:

Apparently the kid wasn't kiddin' when he said it was a "big" tree job.
<snip>
With logs like that size IF you got them in oak, maple or better it is a shame to see them burned. You should cut them like a bureaucrat cuts red tape, lengthwise. A small Woodmizer LT15 or a Norwood MN 26 "wood" keep in you plenty of lumber for all your projects.

<snip>
This could be just my impatience, but there seems to be no sense of time for businesses here. The surveyor doesn't call back for a month, though he had done his homework in the interim. Plumbers, forget about it. Electricians, oh we're on a big commercial job now. Tree guy, oh we've been waiting for dry weather. Three months waiting?....<snip>
Drew you've got a northern attitude. I've found that in the rural south business ROUTINELY gets interrupted. Didn't happen in Vermont and rarely in Virginia. I think it may be because the weather is always such that if they can't do it today they always can do it next week and they try to accommodate their friends and relatives first.

The contractor plans to do YOUR job BUT someone more "important" (relative, close friend) calls them up to do something. They think "Drew can be put off a day or so". It's not like it's going to freeze or Drew is so dang important.

I frequently hear things like "I WAS going to be there at 8 am but my MIL had a leak in her bathroom", "Well I was on the way over but a calf got out".

Sometimes I can just tell them never mind, I did it myself. You said you were going to be here. To me the worst part is when they are delayed and DON'T call so I end up waiting for a day for nothing. Excuses are cheap and easy to come by and the professionals (plumbers, electricians, etc.) usually know they are about the only people in town who will do the work so you have no alternative.
