Good Afternoon. 1435, sunny, 85F with 42% humidity. Forecast high of 80F{?} with 0% chance of rain this afternoon, and a low of 55F tonight.

Perfect fall day in NW Florida. But I worked late last night, so I slept in this morning. It was after 1100 when I finished my cardio and had breakfast. Now I'm cooking a pot of peas to take over to Sister's tonight. {who is feeling pretty good today, all things considered} My niece and her family are flying back to Denver tomorrow so we are all getting together tonight. Margie will be cooking her green beans w/ sliced almonds when she gets in from work. BIL is doing ribs. Should be a good eating. Pictures later tonight at http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/rural-living/288289-whats-supper-148.html

David {MFW} great news that the job search is looking up. Hope the one you land is the right on for you.

Everyone have a good day,

Larro

59F after a high of 70F today. The very welcome rain cleared out around mid-day.

The cabinet maker was here this afternoon to finalize the plans for a couple of cabinets that will hide our mini split refrigerant and drain lines.

We have an unsolved mystery: two nights ago two dog toys that we generally leave outside in the fenced yard disappeared. We've looked high and low and can't find them near the yard or in the house. Sira is heart broken as those were her favorite fetch toys. :p If you see a plastic green ball or a blue bone, let me know please. :D

Seriously we don't know what to think. Fox? Crows? The toys seem on the heavy side for birds to carry very far. Crows are not active at night. The ball is slightly smaller than a softball and the bone is 9"-10" long. Both are tough and dense enough to withstand some serious big dog chewing. A fox might be able to squeeze under the fence in one area but we haven't seen any sight or sign of the fox that was hanging around for a couple seeks now. He either got shot or scared off since a neighbor was shooting the same time the fox disappeared.

Any ideas?

Dave, some time the answer is just staring you in the face.
Alien abduction of course.
probably needed the toys for some earlier dogs.

could they have been buried?
can we rule out dementia for Sira?
where did I put my bones?...er keys.

Ya, alien abduction makes as much sense as anything at this point. It just one of those things that has defied a rational solution.

Not buried. Sometimes I am beginning to wonder about Sharon, but Sira seems to be of sound albeit limited mind.

Something interesting, well to me anyways, about the bone the ball and Sira. One of her favorite pastimes is parading around with both in her mouth; very proud she is. The only way both fit is if the bone gets picked up first, then the ball. She knows both will fit but seems to not realize/remember the order required. So, she very quickly tries it one way then the other until she has both. It's trial and error every time. I wouldn't say she is the smartest dog we have had, but it is an example of canine cognition.

I still think the ball and bone are somewhere to be found around here. What critter would search out and carry away two of something--other than victim chickens?

57 headed to 71 and beautiful sunny.

You know that you woke up too early when you are the first poster of the morning.

Dave, you know it is World Series time...so Sharon pitched the ball right over the plate, and Sira hit one out of the park. Then she threw the bat over the fence in celebration.

Or, if not, and not a raccoon or fox like you suspect, then I think Drew's theory is the only working one. You need to start a thread on this, and include the word "pallet" in your subject title to make sure it gets the right attention.

Hope things are okay in Hawaii.
