Evening fellows, got up early and spent the day stripping and shingling my son's roof. Back at it tomorrow if I can get out of bed, a little stiff right now.

I'm baaaaaack! :D

Took me an hour to catch up with all the doings in this thread. Good to hear mostly good news from all of you.

We went on a little trip to Asheville, NC with our Cleveland, OH college era friends. We have been meeting up yearly for the past six years. Nice town to visit. Good eats and I had never visited the Biltmore Estate--nice little place in the country. So many nice folks work there. It's quite a well-managed, well-oiled operation; that is really clear to see. We think next year's rendezvous will be in Burlington, VT.

We drove home via Albany, NY, Route 7 east & 11 through Vermont to I-91, north to St. Johnsbury and US Route 2 to home. The leaves in NY and southern VT were at their peak, a bit past the peak farther north in some places. Leaf peepers were at their peak everywhere. Plenty of traffic all over the place. Yuck on that but a good trip overall.

Good Evening. 2135, partly cloudy, 71F with 88% humidity. Today's high was 93F and tonight's forecast low is 65F. I've been too busy today to get outside other than taking out a bag of trash a customer left. I had too many events for a seamless day of football watching:D And I'm going to have to watch the race in the morning. Just too much football for me to give it my full attention tonight.

My niece and her family is flying in from Denver tonight. I heard that the little boy got away from his daddy in the Houston airport and ran out of the security area. He had to chase after him, and the tickets were in my niece's purse, so he had to call her to come with the tickets before they could get back in.

I've still got a good while to go here at work. Maybe my customers will go easy on me until the good games are over with.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend,

Larro

30 right now....high of 60 today. Good day for mowing, I think.

Got the shower cartridge installed yesterday....had a heck of a time finding a water cutoff for the shower. Every other faucet had valves in close proximity to the faucet...not the shower though. I finally just turned the main line off. Pretty easy job after that, but I got the wrong handle. I'll be taking both the new (replacement) handle and the original handle back to Home Depot on Monday. We have two showers, so everyone (wife, step-daughter and I) will have to use the main shower for a day.

Coffee is brewing. 29° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 59° with mostly sunny skies until clouds move in late in the day. Going to sit back and relax today. Feels like I am coming down with a cold.
Good Morning All.

Roy, go back to sleep, it's Sunday...

low sixties here, going up only to 71 today. Weather is really whipsawing, back to mid eighties tomorrow. No rain, radar is clear, but after our shower yesterday, my first trip today is to Lowes to stock up on downspout gizmos to spread the water out on the ground. Now the new gutters work so well the water is trying to take the gardens with it. Problem is those extensions are ugly, and not sure how to hide the whole thing unless I start digging up the whole front lawn and putting in underground piping. But the land is so flat it's hard to get an angle to move the water. Time for Ditch 102, dealing with front lawns...as it is now my front sidewalk is now the conduit for water to the driveway; not a good idea; those pavers won't last long. Sigh, but they all have to be pulled up anyway and reset; as they have sank and are adding to the water pooling problem. Not hard to do but a lot of work and not high on my list right now. Not when I have trees to plant. :dance1:

I'm supposed to be unboxing dishes today, OR I can go play with plants and trees.
Cool sunny day. Dishes or trees.
sorry dishes...:D

31F or 33F ... depending on which version of TWC you wanna believe ...

Looks like it might be our first time below freezing this season ...

Still 69F here in the house ... can hear the blower on the wood burner cycling on and off ...

Came down to the house yesterday afternoon for a little nap ... wasn't too long after that, that the nephew showed up with the chainsaw ...

Lower back is a-hurtin' ... too much standing on concrete I guess.

Now that I've got the brackets off the bucket and am actually fitting them to the Titan SSQA brackets, I can see there is a little spacing issue ... the brackets from the bucket need to be spaced back a little for the cross tube to clear the locking mechanism ...

I'm thinking that some of that 1 1/2" x 3" rectangular tube scavenged from the old dump cart bed should work just fine ... although I do need to look at the wall thickness and verify that it's thick enough. If not, I'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Haven't seen many birds on the feeders since I refilled them ... although I have seen some flying around other parts of the property.

Hope everyone has a fine Sunday.

Interesting. The wood floor in the great room is 1 inch oak (Missouri Ozark grown) and has yet to cup or warp or move or squeak. Other than having the urethane redone when changing the hall from carpet to oak floor has no been touched :cool2: :drink:

I've never had anything other than solid wood floors before I came here, but everyone has told me not to use them in Eastern Carolina due to the moisture. The plywood underneath the heaved floors looked ok, very strange, I expected it all to be bad. And as the house started to dry out in dryer weather, the solid wood flooring slightly relaxed and the Hump went down maybe a quarter inch.
No more Hump now. The new floor is really a super thick oak veneer over high quality plywood. I immediately asked how durable it was and was assured never a problem. Well, no high heels, no dogs, well not yet on the dog...and I'll have a runner rug in the hallway so I'm sure this floor will far outlast me.
